I didn't like Clapton that much, but my husband did so I surprised him with tickets to see Clapton for his birthday. He closed the show with this song, I have been in love with him ever since. All of his music is so powerful!! Love it!!
@samuelgier The DVD is One More Car, One More Rider. My mom has it in a set of 2 live CDs and the live concert DVD. I believe it was recorded at one of his performances at Madison Square garden but I'm not 100% sure. You can buy it for sure at his official website e r i c c l a p t o n . c o m (I can't post a link or else it'll be marked as aspam er something you know lol) I hope this helped!
You did it Eric. You have always been so very very good. You just have gotten better through the years. You can even singing is good now. Now you have just gotten down right , and this is a very good thing, Funky. I can think of no other sounds in music I like more then the sounds your music makes these day. Thanks.
Actually it's not the same guitar he played at the Concert for Bangladesh-a show that he played for free along with dozens of other artists to help a friend raise money for hungry children. Sure, Clapton was a mess in the 70's and part of the 80's. He cleaned himself up and started a treatment center for addicts. What have you done for your fellow man lately Bigruss?
This is excellent. So many people have tried to follow Judy Garland with this song and I have yet to see anyone do it as much justice as Eric Clapton has.
@OropherThranduil I've heard Kamakawiwo'ole's version and I agree that it is great. As far as a cover that pretty much goes by the same tune, rather than making it something almost entirely new, Eric Clapton takes the cake in my opinion. I'd love to look into the other version you mentioned though. This is one of my favorite songs.
Saw this show at MSG a few years back. They were originally playing this as a sound check, and decided at the last minute to incorporate it in to the set list. Unbelievable rendition.
@62brian62 Really? Thanks for that tidbit. I'm glad they included this in their set list, otherwise the world would've been unaware of this wonderful version.

I wonder if 2m44s was rehearsed? Whether it was or not, the roar from the crowd immediately after says it all.

Israel Bruddah Iz Kamakawiwoʻole
his version is so great, so full of love and joy,
and believe it or not, even the cover done on scrubs, covering Izs version with 4 part harmonies provided by Teds Band (The Blanks).
my favorite covers besides this one here.

the one from scrubs is kinda like the beach boys harmonizing to the tune, and they were great at harmonizing on melancholic beautiful tunes.
