Friends singing Kareoke, kids showing off their singing skills, Video game streams of tournaments and Let's plays. things like that. People will say common sense says it's parody and they can't do it. The trouble is, there is a precedence that if the margin is narrow enough then limitations on your freedoms may be imposed. In this case limited only to streaming.

This means that theaters and cable TV are now obsolete and there's no reason to maintain them.

Well, you're exaggerating quite a bit. This bill is quite bad, I cannot deny. But it would not remove Netflix, as Netflix gets permission to stream films from the filmmakers. I'm pretty sure we would still know things. America will not become communist due to this. And it will not make the economy fifty times worse. That would employ no economy at all. @sonicangel15 Exactly, we need the internet.
Streaming videos has already surpassed the need to go the theaters and the need for cable TV.
This means that theaters and cable TV are now obsolete and there's no reason to maintain them.
At least make us pay a few bucks to watch a movie online when it's new and make us watch movies for free when they're old. That's if theaters no longer exist and they have no choice but to sell them online.

@Eltro920 And if no has the need to go to theatres anymore, then Disney, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Universal, and DreamWorks wouldn't be making as much money as they are right now. The same goes with music: if no one has the need to run to Target, Best Buy, or F.Y.E. to buy the latest CDs, then the Black Eyed Peas, Avril Lavigne, etc. wouldn't be making as much money as they are right now. That's terrible, isn't it?

@sonicangel15 You do realize that money is going digital, right? I'm not saying "watch every movie for free" I only said "we should at least pay for new movies". And by "new" I don't mean "new until 3 weeks".
OR buy movies online until its gross revenue surpasses the budget 2 fold, but still can go to stores to buy movies too.
The main problem is money, it's too broken to still work in the present day.

if this bill is passed, the entire internet would have to be shut down. the only way to watch what you want is buy DVDs again since netflix would be gone. in order to get gaming news, we would have to buy magazines, since game streaming would be illegal. we will no longer know anything anymore. the USA will become a communist country hellbend on making our lives miserable. not to mention, our economy will be 50 times worse than it already is now! LEAVE US ALONE!!

Well, you're exaggerating quite a bit. This bill is quite bad, I cannot deny. But it would not remove Netflix, as Netflix gets permission to stream films from the filmmakers. I'm pretty sure we would still know things. America will not become communist due to this. And it will not make the economy fifty times worse. That would employ no economy at all. Now, onto the bad parts. Jobs of many Partners/Directors would be jeopardized (Mike Mozart, Seananners, etc.)

@KeepSpeechFree What people aren't realizing is that THE INTENDED RESULT IS NOT TO SHUT DOWN YOUTUBE COMMENTATORS OR THROW YOU IN JAIL FOR A POKEMON PICTURE ON THEIR FACEBOOK. The intended result is to not allow people to upload the full season of Lost, or have a public Studio Ghibli marathon on UStream. This bill is about protecting copyright. Copyright is a broad thing, obviously more broad than the writers of the bill thought. Learn the facts before acting like an expert.

These stupid copyright bigots need to get used to the fact that the world will now mostly play music on the internet, put up amvs, etc. No one is going to buy CD's, or cassettes anymore, so they ought to either adapt to the modern era, or else die out altogether.
If they want to make us pay for what we watch, fine. But don't go removing music videos, because we sometimes upload things that someone has never seen before, and that makes that person want to go buy that band or show. It's good!

i agree that quite a few dirty tricks have been used in the past but i don't see how this is one of them.
