The problem is that those who are in favor of beastiality can say you can not discriminate against them because they want to marry an animal and that they are equal to humans etc. Gay activists want equal rights, so why can't those who are in favor of beastiality have the same?

Listen, this is pretty simple. Marriage is between two consenting adults - Merriam-Webster's Dictionary agrees - but Oxford Dictionary disagrees. In the U.S. we use Merriam-Webster since Oxford Dictionary is meant for Brits - we don't spell color as colour like in Oxford - otherwise you flunk grade school english. Most of our college dictionaries use Merriam-Webster's.

I'm glad to have seen this. To me it seems like "religion" has gotten too involved in gov't. Also, personal opinions seem to be more important than basic rights. We all have opinions, and that's fine. But just because my opinion doesn't coincide with the majority, doesn't make it any less important. It's just an opinion, not a law. But opinions seem to be mixing in with the laws now. Just because you disagree, doesn't make it wrong. I represent me, not a "group." Am I making sense? :-)

If you think that, then why don't you just leave it up to the churches. Putting marriage in the hands of the government courts and legislatures to decide is, by definition, involving the government.

I'm a strongly progressive liberal, and I'd argue why we don't just have the state issue what ought to be their function- a certificate of civil union? If you want a marriage, then go to your church and have them perform a service and issue a marriage certificate as an addendum.
