I do that to myself a lot cus I have hard ear wax like east asian people, even though I'm white from Sweden. I didn't know it was a socially accepted behaviour in other areas of the world.

My doctor has told me that it is dangerous and that you should never put "anything sharper than your elbow" into your ear. Even using soft tips from a pharmacy can be very damaging, but I do it anyway cus otherwise I'd have hard earwax, or ear skin pieces tickling in my ear.
