Maria Bello is a GREAT actress, but she was HORRIBLE in Mummy 3 and she ruined the role. She looks like she could be Brendan Fraser's mother and he's my age. Secondly, it was a SAD mistake for a storyline. Sure, they could go to other countries, but it isn't what made the movies work. The backdrop that they used was right for THIS movie. It is a symptom of a bigger problem that it was changed to appease the group of people this was aimed at (as opposed to the first 2 movies).

Not to mention I doubt anyone can claim to be a modern Egyptian. Like America, Egypt was mixed race, some were meds, some were nubian, some were copts, there were different skulls/mummies recovered. For the most part, there would be little benefit to claiming Ancient Egyptian ancestry since the civilization is gone. People that use ancient civilizations/peoples to claim superiority are just compensating for their own failures as a individual and human being.

it's mainly people wanting to use it for their own racial political agenda. It's annoying to hear blacks claim Egypt was black simply because it was in Africa as much as it is annoying to hear Nordic people claiming whites built it. We know they were a Mediterranean people, many of the skulls are Caucasoid. Caucasoid can be both white, black (ethiopian/somali) or central asian/middle eastern. I'm all about facts, not skepticism promoted as fact. Need evidence.

Mummy 3 was one of the worst movies ever made. It was bad enough that Maria Bello butchered Evie, and that it was about that whiny brat kid turned whiny man, and John Hannah was reduced to a caricature cameo, but they absolutely ruined it with trying to pander to Asian cinema that has taken over action pictures. What the heck kind of Mummy picture is called that w/o the actual MUMMY?? Plus no Ardeth Bay? What is the point! There was NONE (I loved Michelle Yeoh in this but she's always great)!

What was the point? so them having a Chinese mummy ruined everything? they can't be in egypt forever. there are SOOO many ancient civilizations around the world that they can work with, such as the upcoming forth one "Rise of the Aztec" who knows whats next 'the spirits of the natives' heck i dont know. Maria did a good job, its just that we werent use to someone else taking Rachel's place. she was not a bad actress at all.

Also , Ancient Egyptians came in two major emmigrations one from the Mediterranean and another from the South of the Nile , they were extremly mixed together and they had (and still is ..) mostly this bronzed skin tone which varies from very fair-white to brown .

i find it strange that you have to post this twice to rant about a very very good egyptian movie. now i do agree with you on SOME things. but the guy who played Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) was actually born in Pretoria South Africa. he doesnt entirely look white. he fit the role perfectly. why hate a movie just because the people werent black? not eveyone in egypt is black, that is NOT true at all. and they werent white either. but i do agree that they should change their racial choices more often.

David who played the scorpion king is is half black and canadian. so they had pretty a good mix of racial backgrounds in this movie.
