Yeah I know what you mean, but I think you have to realize the difference between the American usage of words like "Irish" and that of the native people, of course a person from Ireland isn't going to think you're Irish as they have grown up there to 2 Irish parents surrounded by the sports, the accents, the history and general modern Irish life which an American wouldn't have a clue about, it's not an insult or anything, it's just 2 very different backgrounds to be called the same thing.
