i didn't know of the alternate version it is all very interesting but i have to say i had the record with the wall in 1981, i was a kid it was one of my first records and i loved it!

the line where friends may be drunk shot or die away from you... I wonder if he was thinking of John when he wrote the song... This song makes me feel chills and I cry every time.. NOTHING LASTS... it huers to read that but it is true... The writings on the wall so make of it what you will...

He wrote this line thinking of John-shot dead- and Ringo that was fighting against his adiction to alcohol.

But wasn't the original album recorded before John's death?

Certain songs were written before Lennon's death. When Harrison presented the album to the WB executives, they rejected beacuse they thought the songs were "downbeat". Then Lennon was shot, and Harrison could work out the song "All those years ago" that was initially meant to be a song for Ringo. (Please, check out my video "Blood from a clone").

This song always makes me cry... I don't know why but All I can do is cry... DAMN I miss that man.. I better get out of here before I cry again...
