I did piano lessons for years. HATED IT. Seriously, it sucked. I know more from watching videos and reading articles for a few months than I did in all that time. I like classical music, but the amount of classical that was in these lessons made me hate it at the time. Seriously, who cares if you can play Bach or Vivaldi, you can`t impress bitches with that! Learn somthing like "don`t Stop believing" it took me like 2 weeks to master it and bitches love it.
Ive been teaching piano, guitar and drums for years, and you are right what you say, very good stuff, learning any instrument should be fun. So for the last several years Ive been teaching hardly any theory at all, and people stay with the instrument, I also found that when they started to get a little better they asked me about theory. Any excellent stuff man.
I've got the same experience as you. After about 7 years I then started learning chords...they are so valuable...now I am trying to learn playing by ear
i agree. when in life will this happen: aliens have taken over the earth and are about to kill the president and all you can do to save him is to play a song from 1324 that no one cares about.
You r completely right. For 1 year i took guitar lessons i got so bored that i quited it.
Because it was difficult. But then after years when i came to Christ (became a christian) and i took the guitar and i started to learn accords and then in no time i could play songs and sing along with it. While i went for 1 hole year and couldnt play anything.
it might be true that only learning the classical things is not the best way of learning the piano. i started learning it at the age of 8 with some child pieces and went on with some easy classical stuff... after a year or so i began learning some popular music and changed my teacher. since then i´ve played mainly classical pieces but only now i recognized the beauty of these pieces. if i´ve got questions on popular music, i may always ask my teacher and he helps me. so, i recommend both:cl.+pop
Totally agree. In my view, the ultimate musician knows every scale and the position of every note in the scale, can recognize the intervals between every note, and can transpose instantly. Perfect pitch isn't needed because if you can transpose instantly and recognize pitch intervals, you can just change the key!! Sightreading is good, but by no means necessary!!
your correct!!!!!! but there are some things you have to learn slowly. i am fine learning sheet music cause it makes me know that i have an intelligence that few people have and i can share with others. and if the kids really wanted to learn how to play piano they would not have drop out of there lesson
the real reason kids get bored of lessons is because they don't listen...period. But it's not their fault, it's the teacher's for not letting them listen!
You make an interesting point. It's somewhat similar to teaching a baby to read before they can even speak. For kids, I imagine this would be a practical approach.
I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your piano videos. I've always had a good ear for picking out a tune, but I've never had lessons. Learning the piano always seemed a little intimidating. After you're video about learning to play in three minutes, things just kind of clicked and I wrote my first song. It's still a work in progress, but I'm having a lot of fun. I can't wait to see more videos.
