Emerging to what? Are they planning to print a new Emerging Bible? I don't think the Bible we have now will not work with their plan. The Bible is firm about difficult life issues. They require a daily surrender, forgiveness, and love.

@changeishere2008 - A lot of the emergent churches are now using the "bible" called The Message. Ugh! That is NOT the true Word of God. They didn't like the true Scriptures, that's why they wrote their own. :(

Apprising ministries has some great articles on Bells new friends he hired names Shane Hipps, who says all paths lead to god adn Bell calls us divine dirt clauds! Romans 1 anyone!

I would view Bell as more of a threat than Brian McClaren even. McClaren is more clearly diverging from Christianity, but Bell sneeks in under a seemingly harmless guise of "wrestling with the truth," until you start enjoying being mystified, and go decide to fight for world peace and forget the need for justification by faith. I know, that is exactly what happened to me. I am a victim of his "wrestling."

Even what these detractors are doing was predicted before 70 AD in the book of Jude, 2 Peter, ACts, 1 and 2nd Timothy Revelation. So that we may know the truth. Bless you

I don't understand WHY you guys are so mad?!? Bell says at the beginning of his books that he is wrestling with scripture and this is what how he interprets it..tells us not to just accept it, but wrestle with it ourselves. Whether hes right or wrong is a whole other debate..you guys are tearing apart someone that God LOVES and that (regardless of hes right or wrong) is devoting his life to discovering and revealing Christ.

Satan is devoting his entire existence on deceiving people of the TRUTH.

It does matter if a preacher is teaching false theology. Regardless if Bell says he struggles with scripture, what he spews at the pulpit he believes is his truth of how he believes the scripture to read to FIT his way of life. His gospel message is a false gospel.

Tell me j, why did Jesus come down from His thrown in heaven to walk with us on earth?

That is really funny, bc nothing in scripture tells us to wrestle, it tells us to repent and believe and walk after him ( Jesus) So what appears to be subtle and unassuming- is down right deception. We are called to contend for the faith ( Jude) not play with it. And the young ones Bell is stumbling? Oh Lord have mercy. Paul said not to stumble a brother and Jesus said their punishment is ramped up for influencing the stubling of babes...Millstone necklace anyone ?

There is a spiritual warfare everyday. Satan is working over time to kill, still, and destroy people. We have to arrest and bind everything that is attacking us in Jesus name. ( The Holy Spirit reveled this to me long time ago but I still struggle in my faith.

Bell doesn't believe God, period. He states that scripture is NOT divine. He further destroys the Faith of the new believer and is drawing them into the New Age - One Word Church (Warren/Olsteen/Hybels/etc) that will accept the Anti-Christ(anti=copy). Wake up the TIME is SHORT. Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand!!

Hey, Karen, thanks very much for all your videos on the Emergent Church. I think Bell has some good points in Velvet Elvis, but as Jim said, there is sort of a disrespect for Scripture throughout the book. It is very liberal and postmodern in nature, and Bell's theology is far too man-centered.

"Velvet Elvis" by Rob Bell may be more radical that some of the Emergent church proponents, but he displays a common thread...a dis-respect for the Authority of Scripture.
