  • trying not to, but they are coming down my cheeks

    brilliant acting

  • I'm not a fan of the show, but I can't think of a better way for a character to die. That's how I want to go.

  • A great talk between Jack & Molly

sad that they are both dead :(

  • Way to go Jack!

  • OH! my heart strings ;______;

  • Perfect!

  • i spent the whole half hour trying so hard not to cry.

  • In tears at the final scene with Tyrone... Jack will be missed...

  • ITS GONNA AIR IN CANADA TOMORROW!!!!!!! SOOOOOOO EXCITEDDDD

  • I am watching Corrie a year behind here in Canada. Then I found someone who is doing videos that are not. Sadly theres a gap. Very glad to have seen this. Jack and Vera will be missed after 30+ years. What an exit!!

  • Sooo sad........sob!!

  • This had me bawling at thhe very end when Tyrone said "goodnight dad"

  • Originally they wanted to kill off Jack during the tram crash. However, it was Bill Tarmey who suggested this exit and managed to persuade Liz Dawn to make this emotional cameo appearance.

  • Going to miss Jack,so sad r.i.p.

  • OMG I'm sitting here bawling me eyes out. Silly cow. LOL

  • Tyrone Says Dad. Superb.

  • jesus wept I'm a mess

  • My mum said this was sad but I didn't believe her. I've cried my eyes out!! :*^{

  • This brought a tear or two, what a beautiful way to go, such peace, grace and dignity and getting to see his Vera again, that would be such a blessing to see the one's you have loved and already passed coming to meet you.

  • jack and vera in love

  • there is only one word that can sum up jack's final episode and that word is perfect, a perfect send off

  • brilliant send off! very Ghost-esque.

  • What a sweet ending i loved it tysm =^;^=

  • @WrestlingMega Me too and also get to share just one last special moment with loved one in the afterlife, just like Jack did with Vera here.

  • @Lighteningpictures Yeah it was really emotional, but beautifully written and in some ways makes you believe is this what the afterlife is really like.

  • @MeBenHalpin What a wonderful sentiment. I feel the same way.

It brought tears to my eyes to see Jack & Vera together again.

    Ms Booped

  • @MsBooped Yeah it was beautiful, just to see them together for one last on screen moment.

  • Such sad moment, actually missed this when it first aired in November, Jack and Vera will live on forever in the hearts of so many devoted Corrie fans though, God bless them.

  • As endearing a send off as Stan Ogdens when Hilda got his stuff back from the hospital and Stan's glasses were in her hand. Perfect acting all round.... Well done Corrie...... I'm in bits here!!

  • that was so sweet, it made me cry!! it was good to see Vera again tho!!

  • Tear jerking!

  • After 49 years and 11 months, possibly the best Corrie moment of all time. SImply heartbreaking, yet uplifting. Beautiful.

  • @Coronationstreettube Couldn't agree more and so cleverly done by the writers, to capture the audiences imagination of Jack, passing away peacefully in his sleep and his beloved Vera there waiting for him on the other side, for the pair to be re-united for just one last on screen moment, as you say so heartbreaking, but yet uplifting.

  • arwwwwwww

  • What a beautiful ending.

  • awwww i love jack and vera

  • 10 people have no heart

  • I loved this scene I cried loads, it reminded me of my my Nan and grandad

  • @moodyacrobaticwhale Mine too, they were cross between the Duckworths and the Ogdens always bickering, but love them and miss them forever.

  • @TheDiddlysquat going by what William Roach has said in past interviews, he pretty much wants to stay on the show till either his health won't let him play the character anymore or the creators have had enough of him though given how much the creators like him/his character I am going to assume it will have to be his health that gives out first, William loves playing Ken and doesn't wish to stop till he has to.

  • No wait I mean coz he sees Vera again

  • I know it sounds like mean but I think jacks death was probably the best moment of coronation street in the last decade

  • I never really cared much about Jack and Vera, I thought they were well played by the actors who played them and likable characters but just not characters that I really paid much mind to but even I had to cry at that sweet scene between Vera and Jack, it was a beautiful way to end his time on Coronation Street.

  • <3 jack xx

  • What great storylines corrie has had recently keep it up

  • This was such a beautiful, sweet and simple end to a soap character's life and to one of the best and most honest and true to life soap partnerships on television. Isn't it such a lovely and comforting thought to think that when we die someone so close to our heart comes to collect us. Magical.

  • magnificent

  • being from New Zealand, we will not get this episode for 16 months or so, .... Jack Duckworth has been an awesome, consistently likeable character, I'll miss him dearly, Vera not so much LOL, nah they've been a great couple to the end.

  • Did Ken know Jack was dying when he raised his glass to him as Jack left?

  • @mrutty1 It seemed like he'd (Ken) put two and two together and came up with four, unlike Deirdre and Audrey who can't count. XD

  • @mrutty1 No the only people who knew Jack was dying was Tyrone, Molly, and Connie. He kept the rest in the dark.

  • I've been in university, so I didn't know good old Jack had gone!!

This was so bittersweet, Jack and Vera always were and always will be one of my favourite couples on Corrie ♥

  • i think they should have ending the episode when the camera goes through the roof.

  • @0:39 what the hell does he say?

  • @hod05 speaking a voodoo curse on jack

  • @hod05 "Baby Jack is Kevin and I'm so angry I could..."

Doesn't quite make grammatical sense, but that's what he says.

  • @hod05 The line was written as: 'Baby Jack is Kevin's and I'm so angry I could scream' but it's partly inaudible.

  • Episode should of finished at 5:20 and it would of been perfect.

  • Comment removed

  • It's great they persuaded Bill not to leave in 2009.

  • will miss the old guy

  • I'm trying so hard not to cry.

    Oh, sod it

  • "Has he gone?"

No - he's still slumped there mate, Ambulances aint that bloody quick - neither are you Tyrone!

    Good scene.

  • i just want to punch audrey in the effin face sometimes!

    soo sad )':

  • Havn't watched the street for years but as mum passed away in july , thought I would watch this. It was very good. What Coronation street used to be best at. Simple effective drama where no buildings blown up or ridiculous crime scenarios. Anyone know what the song is ?

  • @Simon88889999 'Softly, As I Leave You' by Matt Monro.

  • awww this made me cry watching it & I have still got like 6 months before it happens here in Canada.

  • Moved to tears, well done corrie

  • I'm from New Zealand and won't be seeing this for another year and a half. I'm 25 and have grown up watching Coro - I've seen Jack on screen for as long as I can remember. I'm sitting here at the computer soaked in tears - haven't cried so much in years. What a beautiful ending though - big props to Coro for getting it right. JACK AND VERA FOREVER!

  • it was nice to get her back to send him off

  • Lol

  • What a beautiful way to send jack off on his way...with his little swamp duck.

This won't air here in Canada for almost a year-I'm going to have a devil of a time keeping quiet about it to my elderly parents who've been fans ssince it started airing here in '66.

  • Did Jack have a preminition of the empending tram crash, when he came out of the Rovers, onto the street? He looks towards the viaduct in horror as the sound of sirens wail in the background.

  • @bobbydoll76

    wow...bobby

Corrie at the moment has had many little sneak hinters in there programmes.

For example, on Friday night during the East Street spin off featuring Eastenders and Corrie, Eileen Grimshaw and Zainab Massood are having a cup of tea, when suddenly a very very loud noise of the tram drives past, Zainab is in shock, while Eileen goes 'That tram will be the death of me some day'

    hint hint ;)

There's probarly loads more, but I haven't really picked up on them.

  • Fuck that connie one, glad it was just jack and vera in the end :'(

  • R.I.P. Jack Duckworth

    HE IS REAL TO ME

  • jack was at my bro's christening, held him. got a video of it somewhere

  • Is it just me or does it look like Ken knows this is the last time he'll see him and why the birthday is specail?

  • This is how a soap character is supposed to pass away, with love and dignity! This moved me to tears as he was same age as my dad whom i lost in 1995 and it still hurts!

  • jack will be missed rip

  • God Bless

  • that was a very touching final scene, its was good of Liz Dawn to reprise her role for one last time, that was beautiful!

  • the only bit i didnt like was when they walked in they straight away knew he was dead, wouldnt they just think he was asleep

  • Jack & Vera THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i missed this but its just brought a tear to my eye r.i.p jack

  • Awwww ~ I was around (but didn't watch that I can recall) the first episode of Corry. The long standing characters like Jack have been a weekly part of my life since 1960 and I truly feel a sense of loss when they leave the show. I wish Bill Tarmey a wonderful retirement!

  • looks like molly and tyrone have gt their baby his first christmas present a jack in the box

  • whatsa the sinatra song at the end ?

  • :( thiss madee me cry!

  • OMG, i missed the final moments of jack as i was working, my god glad i didnt see it at work ive just sobbed so much, a fantastic way for him to go, brilliant sceens xx

  • Jack DUckworth Death scene= Best Moving Death In Soap History!

  • Nicely done: they managed the rather bizarre bit with Vera appearing to him really well. The best bit, though, is Tyrone's tears at the end: when I watched Corrie (last seen about five years ago) he was treated as little more than comedy relief, so it's nice to see the actor get a dramatic moment.

  • I'm only disliking this cos Jack died...and it made me cry.

  • so nice to see vera <3

  • Really well done i must say, haven't seen this show in years, i remember as a kid i used to watch it with my Mam, used to love Jack.

Well acted and quite touching ...

  • jackey D!!!! legend

  • end of a vera mmmi mean era!!!

  • so so sad:(

  • that was so tastefuly done thats why cory has lasted so long

  • He's Ty's Dad??

  • @GanEdenAustralia he has been a dad to tyrone more than his real dad

  • @GanEdenAustralia

no he is not but his is NOT by birth but he is as gd as his dad

  • @GanEdenAustralia Sort of not his byolodgic dad amotinal dad same with Vera

  • Perfect ending

  • Oh my golly gosh, that was sad :( Go Jack, back with Vera at last, so cute!!

  • dad i think

  • what did tyrone say at the end?

    goodnight dad or goodnight jack?

  • @Livibox goodnight dad

  • @Livibox dad

  • Kevin: Curreh?

  • I cried

  • Such a nice ending for Jack. Now reunited with Vera.

  • beautiful scene, simple, effective. I havent watched Corrie for many years - busy with life etc, but I used to watch it with my Gran every week, and we used to laugh real belly laughs at what Jack and Vera got up to (as well as Hilda and "Our Stan"). I think when scenes like this upset people, what they are really getting upset at is the memory of something similar that happened in their own lives, the memory of a loved one dying for instance, but it is always sad to see the end of an era.

  • Very, very good send off, but 2 things would have made it perfect, for me.

    1) The scene at the very end, with Tyrone, should have went on a bit longer. Just a bit more time.

2)Silent credits, or some alternate music like Julia's theme. For me, personally, Corrie's main theme just ruins the mood. It does for most endings.

Still, beautiful episode. Will probably win best Soap Exit in the upcoming awards.

  • To jack and vera duckworth, without you corrie will never be the same, sleep well my treasures.

  • That was so beautiful. If it was overdone it would've been cheap but it was so simple. Beautiful.

  • "fly me to the moon". :) , god bless jack.

  • omg!. i couldnt watch this i know i would just tear up. and im not gay. atleast i can admit it.

when i watched this on telly i had a wee smile but it wasnt in a funny way it was nice but very sad.. gave me butterflys then teared up at the end especialy when vera came. thumbs up if u know what i mean. he reminds me of my granfather.

  • that would make dexter cry

  • AWW SO SAD i love how vera came 2 get him and Tyrone is the man

  • I started calling it "Cremation St" a while ago.

But Matt Munroe singing "Softly" - nice touch

  • I noticed they playing Bill Tarmey's version of Wind Beneath My Wings on the jukebox. Nice touch!

  • There will never be good actors like him again, it's all gays, lesbians and slappers now lol

  • He`s had that same coat on for fifteen years. R.I.P coat.

  • i like the part where jack does his last scenes from coronation street

  • British soap at it's best - fitting tribute to a great character - good night Jack

  • Audrey is my auntie

  • @bealeboyo Are we meant to believe that?

  • 24 race pigeons for sale, shed included.

    Manchester area.

Contact Molly or Tyrone on 01612345678

  • @ih8puppies Hahahaha.

If you created that joke, you're a genius.

  • @ih8puppies Lol your a joker.

  • @ih8puppies Friggin hilarious!

  • @ih8puppies

Cant get through to Molly, she's snowed under at work.

  • one of the most beautiful, moving, poignant scenes I've ever seen on television. coronation street treats its own history with such utter respect and this was the best exit Jack could have asked for. and of course we weren't just saying goodbye to him, we were saying goodbye to Vera, and an iconic soap partnership. end of an era.

  • Best soap exit ever for two of the greatest soap characters ever.

Supremely moving, delicately acted and wonderfully understated - with these sequences I believe Corrie hit a standard of storytelling brilliance no other soap has yet managed to reach. Can you seriously imagine Eastenders trying to tackle this kind of scene with any of the subtlety, personality and beautifully judged light touch that they managed here?

  • Why..do they take the legends out and leave the craapy characters?. xxx

  • Watched this when it went out and it was emotionally brilliant. Very appropriate to have Vera there. Just simplistic in its best wasn't it. Jack Duckworth is a ruddy Legend. I know its only TV but its corrie and its a national thing isnt it, A big deal where we all seem to respect the Death of a soap character lol Good ol' corrie, R.I.P Jack.

  • Lets smoke a big fat cigar...Talk about the good old days and tell tyrone that it's not his kid.Haha

  • @RfcSnipez aww..your so caring?...x[

  • Did tyrone say 'goodnight dad'? thts so sweet :)

  • @lucymn1 I was doing alright up til then! Now I'm fillin' up

  • What did she mean by "there's a bus at 12 past"? Do buses take you to heaven?

  • they really go all out for these sorta things, and it makes such a difference like. That shot at 2.47. Steadicam, if they did that more often it really increases the production value

  • wow that was moving

  • I hope when i die the person i love will be waiting :) i'd wait for him <3

    R.I.P Jack

  • @Rachie2k9 aww thats a well nice comment :) wish everyone was as light hearted as you

  • Aw, this is lovely (:

  • That was beautiful

  • So are they suppost to go to heaven?

  • i've never watch Corrie. but i'm crying like mad. D; so sad. </3

  • I dont watch Coronation Street yet i still had to wipe a tear away!

  • never watched corrie in my life but this still managed to make me sad :(

  • A sweet and dignified ending for our beloved Jack. Someone pass me the tissues .... :'(

  • When jack is in the rovers the song playing in the background I think is jack singing I might be wrong .

  • @mty113 No your right it was him he used to be a club singer before he got into acting :) :)

  • An amazing end for an amazing character, I haven't stopped crying for about fifteen minutes. I've just watched the 'Goodbye Jack' show on ITV1, and I came to see the ending one more time. Wonderful stuff, especially the bit with Vera.

  • Jack Duckworth..............LEGEND.....

  • @legionaire08 ur right there mate, best corrie scene i ever seen, so upsetting for a legend to leave, what a shitter! eh

  • :')

  • Its a clever ending. To have Vera appear to him is bloody genious!

  • I cried for a full hour when I watched this! R.I.P Jack! :'(

  • Goodbye Dad.

that was lovely. Very sad moment in the history of Corrie.

    Long live Jack Duckworth

  • this is so sad but im glad he died with vera in his dreams showed she come back for him well glad there together again but the person who plays jack we are gona miss you you have been a great actor xxxxxx

  • I'm in tears, I'm soo sad. But I'm happy he met Vera again. Even if it was in his dreams :'( R.I.P.

  • goodnight dad :-(

  • So...... Vera Duckworth being the harbinger of death was an unexpected twist.

  • @lrb662003 ha ha ha that made me laugh, mate :-)

  • deffo just cried a little.

  • Didn't expect him to die at all. Corrie legend R.I.P

  • Most emotional Corrie ever! R.I.P jack!

  • Best moment is the subtle glass tip by Barlow to Duckworth, didn't need any words, just two on-screen legends saying good-bye. Fantastic piece of television!
