the gridding is called smart snap, it doesnt look useful yet it makes your bases and contraptions AMAZING. you can adjust the square count and size in menu and helps with precision welding and stuff

there are two things you need to have before making a perfect house -

1st - Smartsnap <-- for accurate precision on props

When welding, I advise to weld the item A to item B and then vice verca. This keeps the item from wiggling around.
