There was a 2nd commercial too where the family pulls up to the window and gives Seth Green a credit card. He then says, "Master Plaster, ca-chunk ca-chunk!" and just uses the credit card over and over again and laughing demonically.
The association with the Saints happened when a local sports reporter did a piece on the 1991 Saints Defense at the middle of the season. They had recorded so many sacks that they were ringing them up like Seth's character in the commercials airing at the time. That weekend, the Superdome started playing snippets of the ad every time the Defense recorded a sack, sending the crowd into a frenzy, and creating the second-most popular phrase in the Saints fans' lexicon behind "Who Dat".
Does anyone remember an alternate Rally's commercial...i saw it aired during an episode of SNL back in 92 or so..Seth Green wasn't in it..The guy pulls up to the window in his car..gets his burger fries and soda (or so he thinks) and drives off..The music from 'Jaws' starts up and he ends up pulling over to check his food bag and it turns out to be 'fish'! Anyone remember that one..was better than the Cha-ching one...i'm really old...
I guess this disproves the rumours. When I was younger the rumour was they found the Rallys guy dead in the cha ching postion.... never knew it was Seth though.
Ha! I think I agree with your theory. I've seen the commercials in every state I've been in but have yet to see a Sonic's. Maybe Sonic's is part of some vast government conspiracy to trick us.
I love Sonic, maybe they are just in the south there are several of them close to me in Texas. I love this commercial and had never seen it. Yea for youtube.LOL
yeah i live in louisville, ky and i have a sonic and rallys both less then 2 minutes away from me. rallys are also better known as checkers in other places.
new orleans saints use this

I have such a soft spot for this commerical. I was 2 or 3 when it first aired but it was on a recorded tape that I watched all through my childhood.
It's awesome that it was associated with the Saints. There's a picture around here somewhere of little me in a Cha-Ching shirt!

Do you have the follow up commercial where Seth is fishing with a toy and pulls in customers'
kids, and he says something like " More bait Cha-Chung Li"?

The story that aired had all of the parts of this commercial in it, interspersed with sack highlights from the season to date.

I love the fact that the "Cha-ching" phrase was popular the last time the New Orleans Saints were doing good.
I'm bringin it back because the Saints rock and Seth Green is just a beautiful man lol

I've never been to a Rally's, I don't think there was one anywhere near us when I was young.
I remember this commercial though.
In ten years, I'm going to be thinking the same thing about Sonics. Remember the commercials, never eaten there.

i don't know anybody that has ever eaten at Sonics

I'm starting to think that they don't really exist. Like SNL commercials, they tempt us with fake products.

Clever. Get us to buy gas, then waste it driving around looking for one.
It's like a treasure hunt with no treasure.

I've eaten at Sonic's. It was in Kentucky. I've seen Rally's in Michigan and Florida.
Rally's and Sonic's are both hard to find, though...
