Fram say's they use paper end caps because paper end caps with glue adhere to the paper filter elements better and therefore they told me that's why they don't use metal end caps. Only on there Xtended Guard filter do they use metal end caps. I say because they are cheap is why they do that, LOL!
@ozscorpio7 Fram has a gotten a bad rep for these @ 3:09. If the glued bond is compromised, dirty oil bypasses the filter media back to the engine.
I had a bad LEE (now defunct brand) oil filter once. It must have had a steel burr or shaving in the threads. It went fine onto a s/b Chevy, but the filter could not be removed until the last cunt hair of engine block thread was cleared. I ended up tin-snipping the can down to the base and making a spanner wrench with rods to fit the filter base.
@ozscorpio7 The pure ones have grip dip over the entire surface, I have never used the cheaper purolators, I think the ones I use for my car are like $8 each lol. I manage to get them on super sale for less than even mircoguard though.
lolfram
One of the worst filters you could ever use on your vehicle.

@Chupria Most likely painted on. Either dipped into a vat of textured paint or sprayed on, something of that nature.
Crazyfomo 2 months ago
@Chupria they probably dip the filter in a vat of it. its basically a paint with texture in it.

@ozscorpio7 Gotta wonder about cheap filters like microguard, there is a reason why I use purolators.
BlackandChrome 3 months ago
@BlackandChrome Yeah, purolators are really good . The only good thing about these Frams is the suregrip idea.
