  • How fascinating!

  • Lol, it was snark. I was bashing the deniers.

  • something under the water in the middle of the picture is stopping that curved edge change as the ice melts....interesting.

  • That glacier is moving fast and dumping a lot of natural history in the water at its edge. I would be interesting to take a quick peek with a robotic submersible and see what is piling up on the ocean floor.

  • The earth has its own seasons, there have been atleast 3 ice ages that we know of. Who knows maybe the dinosaures were driving too much.

  • hmmm. I seem to remember a time when glaciers melted before, it's called the natural cycle of the Earths climate change.....go worry about something else.

  • Most solar powered cameras are set to operated for a year.

On another note, due to the high levels of carbon in the air, the columbia is rapidly dissapearing.

In another 50 yrs it will no longer exist!

  • @TheDirtybomb What high level of carbon in the air co2 is less than 1/2 of 1%

  • This has obviously been edited, see how the light changes? It's like they took a bunch of pictures and put them together to try and make a film. Nice try Climate change hoaxers!

  • @Giamilton of course the light changes. It changes every day.

It was snowing here yesterday so it was quite dark wereas today it clear skies. strangly today it lighter... odd that.

  • I'm sorry, I shall attempt to make my sarcasm more apparent in the future.

  • @Giamilton What part of the word 'timelaps' don't you understand?

  • how long was the time period for this video?

  • About 4-5 months.

  • 7000 years

  • When the English Channel was formed from the retreating arctic ice shelf in what is now the North Sea do you think cavemen were responsible for global warming? Maybe the mere proliferation of lifeforms digesting food and then farting en masse creates each ice age due to the build up of methane causing a greenhouse effect. Mass extinctions gone by could simply be the point at which the sheer numbers of farting animals causing a greenhouse effect. 6 billion people all fart daily so were doomed.

  • Over 20% of man made greenhouse gasses are from cow farts.

  • Whats the ratio of chicken farts to cow farts per kg of meat produced? Maybe we need an animal fart index to assess which is the least gas-producing animal to eat. Maybe fish fart the least?

Then again its still cooler now than during Roman times, if the records of growing grapes in the UK are to be believed. What exactly is the 'right' temperature or is it preferable to simply not have it any warmer than it is now?

  • lol the glacier hardly changes... it goes in and out... im confused, how is it melting if it is moving out then in and then out again...? if you're an expert and you know these things then i don't want to question you but to me that looks like nothing shocking...

  • Yeah it is hardly changing. It's only receeding very slightly. All glaciers ablate (loose mass) where they terminate and accumulate (gain mass) where they start high up in the mountains.

  • The ice that is being lost during this sequence is due to melting and ice berg calving. This lost ice is simply being replaced by more ice that's flowing from higher up the glacier. Even if a glacier were advancing it would still be melting at its terminus, but there would be more ice being gained at the top of the glacier and so despite the loss the glacier would move forward. There is nothing shocking in this video.

  • Shock and Awe!

  • It's perfectly normal. Ice is accumulating further up the glacier and is loosing mass at the terminus (in the video) through a process called calving. The ice is flowing from the accumulation area to the terminus to balance the losses at this location. Overall the glacier only retreats slightly in the video. This might not be global warming, but just the regular cylical activity of the glacier.

  • What would cause the cyclical activity of the glacier? Global warming?

  • What the hell...

Sure global warming exists but the world has had 3 ice ages so far (that's what global warming causes-wierd huh) and humans, along with many animals have survived all of them. Get over it.

  • All glaciers are gettin smaller, it's a process know as ablation, they're all retreating uphill leaving recessional morraines (big rocky mounds)

Hell yeah I payed attention In geography

  • Do you want to borrow my snorkel...?

  • It's faked - there is NO such thing as global warming...

  • oh yes I (blub, bub ) agree (bubble ,bubble)... splish

  • Ofcourse theres such thing as global warming. The question is: Is there such thing as the Green house effect?

  • i seen 2 penguins shagging at 00.17

  • there aren't any... i looked :-(

  • epilepsy anyone..?

  • i don't get it

  • I'm not sure I quite understand... is this a bad thing that it is melting? or is it normal?

  • i think its normal ..if the glacier was getting smaller(which a lot of them are )then thats bad)..

a aint no scientist though ,so dont quote me on it..

  • eeep.

  • That's pretty cool

  • very cool..
