The shure sm7b is used by many artist, recording singing and growling. It's even used for many radio stations (for example, Vakna med The Voice is a Swedish radio station that broadcasts everymorning and they only uses SM7B's.) So yeah, in my opinion, it will be good for any type of recording.

The "Depths" album, in its entirety, is among the most well produced in the genre of Hardcore Deathmetal.
