  • soo wait he went to thai land to learn how to hold thai pads, thats unreal

  • joke

  • wow he looks dangerous

  • girly men

  • Lots of Internet World Champions out there. Fact: Duke Roufus would beat any of your asses with both hands tied behind his back. Shut up and watch his videos; you might learn something!

  • @thegreatbluigi Internet world champions :D, that made me laugh.

  • The student is like well trained puppy :D

  • He doesent kick very hard and he doesent even protect his face while kicking, big fail.

  • @KalleNoPro you are fucken stupid

  • @macheetah49 No, i am right. Jerk.

  • Svara på det här videoklippet... 0:42

  • he trained pat barry

  • scary, now I feel like watching some ernesto hoost footage.

  • ostia pega duro el tio

  • love to train this in australia lol good luck to that eeey

  • I personally prever to do a switch left knee, instead of walking in! With the switch its more explosive than stepping in.

  • I thought I was big and strong... until I held pads for a (much smaller) high level kickboxer for an hour. The next day my muscles were so sore that I honestly wished he would have accidentally missed a pad and knocked me out early in the training session. If shown/done correctly as in this video; holding pads can be as much of a workout as striking.

  • @GrandMasterKolbasa it wont really be a workout, just some bruises from the impact.

  • i will never learn muay thai frm an american only thai or dutch

  • @farscope His brother beat Ernesto Hoost and Rob Kaman.

  • @farscope i bet you would never go to a black doctor too? Racist!

  • @nomilkforsanta am not racist but if were to learn muay thai i would go to the countries that actually produce bad ass muay thai/kickboxers.

  • this is a great vid for me, thanks going to help my training

  • wat the hell , no punching tutrotrial :@

  • @rohailable tutorial

  • u guys are fucking idiots hes a world muy thai champion what the fuck r u guys nuttin but assholes on computers stop telling him how to do his shit

  • Jason kicks like a wrecking ball on concrete !

  • dangit why can't they teach Muay Thai around here?!.. is there any possible chance that anyone knows where Muay Thai is taught in New Brunswick Canada?

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • I really love this black youtube. Nice vid though.

  • DUKE what up brother. It's been a while since you came out with a new one!

  • Thai is awesome!!sagat was solid

  • His teep kick and round kick is a very bad demonstration. He could have better power if his technique was better. He needs to be fine tuned. Good with the basics tho. Roufus is just a big copycat!!!!!

  • Love his kicking , good video !

  • What if you don't have a belly pad?

  • just my 2 cents lol

  • Duke sounds like the dude from family guy. Thar wass no wayyyyyy. Good instructions.

  • i like turtles

  • Ive trained with him,and yes he is awesome with an incredibly hard skull

  • Whoever gives advice to DUKE ROUFUS IS HILLARIOUS. Take a seat... He is one of the worlds greatest trainers.Period. People on here are funny

  • I`m not going to ile, that stutent scares the shit out of me .

  • I'm not going to lie, that student scares the shit out of me.

  • @nogiwarrior pussy [;)

  • how can you YOUTUBE KEYBOARD WORRIERS give this guy an expert in this field and yh giving him advice wtf!

  • anyone that can make matt mitrione a half decent fighter must be doin somethin right

  • who gives a shit its not about holding pads its about being alble to kick and shit right?

  • @bodrie4 hahahahahah good joke

  • fucking americans. Just keep making hamburgers please.

  • @Donlino85 Just wondering, what is more important for me, some good kabob and fresh burger, or greene smelly weat made by small europian africa, what do you think ?

  • the dude kicking scares me, but his foot jab is awful.

  • @lunker73 that was a great fight. Made me like the ufc again.

  • Holding the pads together I find very uncomfortable. But my instructor does it that way but obvoiusly not up at his face like he showed it in the beginning, but down like he shows except he's got 'em open. If you have it open like that, you're smashing the top of your foot more than your shin. I've smashed my foot up good even while they are together and after a continuous kicking, your foot's veins will be busted to shit and completely blue and in pain, lol.

  • @SleepingPeace True but after a while you dont feel the pain in your foot, trust me you get use to it.

  • The smash to the stomach while kneeing is what my trainer does to me. He gets pissed if I pause after he hits me because he says that if you pause you are showing that you are hurt so always hit back immediately.

  • His Pushkicks sucks! 2:33

  • @Jiox67 looks ok to me. more hip maybe?

  • Would love to train and learn with Duke. The guy is awsome.

  • when you kick the pad midheight you come at a 45 angle right?

  • Solid Video

  • muay thai is my sport.all day everyday.thanxx to my trainers andre and todd i can be more andvance and keep up my motives as necessary.

  • I use this method after watching this video a long time ago. I also said that Roufus is is one of the better if not the best Thai boxing coach I have ever seen. If you dont know who he is just watch the upcoming bout Crocop vs Pat Berry. Berry is going to smash Crocop. Rufus will be in Berry's corner. I have used a lot of Roufu's techniques when I hold pads and not only does it work but it is way better for power and stamina for your fighter.

  • awesome lesson...just got muay thai pads and will use these tips...thanks!

  • whos duke rofus again?

  • ammm muy bueno (y)

  • hahah

  • This simulates not the kicking in fight,

if I kick the way how he describes, I

would always kick on my opponents

ellbows. The Pads have to be upright,

so he needs to turn his hips.

  • @Ashvael88 hahahahahahahahaahah!!!!!

  • @Ashvael88 It really depends on the height of the opponent or the placement of the arm of the opponent when you land the kick so it's all about the timing and aim with whether it lands on the elbow or not. And in Muay Thai, it's pretty typical to kick the arm or the shoulder of the opponent and you actually score points for that since that's considered as one of the target including the shin of the opponent.

  • i was thinking of joing muay thai and getting out of boxing but i dont know what to do can one of you comment on m channel

  • Great teacher

  • idiot u get the power from dropping ur hand and balance

  • Lol at anyone on Youtube giving advice to Duke Roufus.

  • @Kcusnza Could'nt agree more. Unless they hold more world titles than Duke. Then maybe, but even then I'd still train with Duke before I'd train elsewhere. I'd take him over Gregg Jackson's anyday.

  • @Kcusnza i agree

but think about it what if duke gave someone else advice on youtube

you can never know someones history on youtube

  • he drops his hands every kick

  • ye i noticed 2, he would get a switft kick in the face like that, especially since muay thai is very focused on the element of surprise.

    Peace

  • @synapse84 thats how you throw thai kick. hes not leaving his chin out, and snapping that hand down is what gives you power

  • @synapse84 A lot of top Muay Thai fighters and kickboxers drops their hands like that when they kick(each having some variations). I've actually never seen someone who puts both their hands up and kick while completely covering up their face. That actually takes away power from the kicks and makes it easier for aggressive inside fighters to take the kick and come in.

  • @cruelgrotequeblood 100% right

  • WOW I see we got alot of experts in here hahaha. Where are all your instructionals to show us how it's really done???? It's really not hard to post a vid on youtube so please post I wanna learn from all these guys that should be teaching Duke!

  • @washappnin

    im right by you brotha!!

  • that jason is an animal!!!!

  • When I'm coaching and my guys open their arms up on step knees i just pop em in the head. In response to the "maximizing power" it is possible to maximize your power without flailing your arms. Boil the movement down. Its your shoulders doing the counter rotation on the strikes so just move your shoulders freely but keep your hands where you can see them. No disrespect to Mr. Roufus what so ever, mans a genius.

  • these guys are beasts, excellent video

  • good video

but the kicker shud be protecting his face wen he kicks...

  • or his groin

  • the hand he drops when he kicks should cover his groin, his right hand should shift to the left side of his face

  • @mattlencfc he is right hand is up the whole time

  • @jonshultz, no , watch when he throws the sharp shin, his right hand comes down behind him, it should fly accross his face, not behind his back

  • @mattlencfc Depends on the kick. Dropping the hand generates balance and power.

  • @mattlencfc

    Yeah..

But you gotta admire that switch before his kicks.

  • @mattlencfc hahaha head butt his foot as it makes contact. HAACHUUU HAAACHUUU

just playin, I train BJJ and Mui Tai and this video is great for trainers and coaches!!!

  • @mattlencfc man if duke roufus listened to you maybe his fighters would knock people out have the best kicks in mma.

  • Comment removed

  • @mattlencfc fyi pads dont hit back. they do protect their face when sparring .. but hitting pads is for more power. protecting face is a technique problem that is worked in sparring.. not in hitting pads..

  • i do that, its very helpful. but im the only person who is doing this way. my instructors and other ppl r doing the wrong way that u showed first

  • Yeah i get that problem too, its kinda frustrating. I know exactly how you feel.

  • After about a month my thai coach taught me that way to hold the pads.

  • what?!! how do u feel horny by watching this vid?

  • thank u, now i know how to hold the pads, thank you!!!

  • i really dunno the point in this videos, i practiced Kick-Boxing for 3 years and had a really good Sensei (Master) to teach me, and i have still better technique than this fella here. Putting the arm to the side when kicking and kneeing? like, wtf? If he did that against me he would do that only once, the next time i would knock him out easily. But hey, just a noob talking :\

  • man u would be doing really well if u were 2 last even 1 round against a thai boxer! kick boxing and thai boxing are completely different styles.1 object in muay thai-destroy your opponent!

  • N00b.......Ok.... this isn't a fight it's pad training. The reason he keeps his hands to his side is to maximize power. I find my arms drop to my side too when I kick but alright: Why don't you make a demo video of how you'd take advantage of this blokes alledged "poor form."

  • haha are you kidding me this guy is a fuking beast... he kicks once your done no next time haha

  • it's make a lot of sense..good good..

  • And with TKD, hold one little focus mit, no bracing stance needed for their "powerful" kicks.

  • Yup, 'pushing' the pads benefits the holder and the striker.

  • muthafuckin street fighter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hmmm sometimes they hold too wide and i got my toe nail broken lol :D.

  • Good vid!

  • iiisssshhhh culero mama guevos...

  • Great video.

  • thx for the vid me and my brother always have problems with this everytime we self train at the garage.

  • Don't push down too hard if you are an average person kicking for health and exercise. It jars the body because you make contact before you are expecting to.

This might be good for a fighter but I can not remember once when my opponent threw his body into my kick. The same with the focus mitts. Don't push them into the punch. That can jar the wrist and again; who throws their head into a fist while fighting?

Let the weapon go to the target and not the other way around.

  • If you do that anyone with a good kick will knock you off balance, making follow up kicks and techniques impossible to do safely. It also makes full power punching dangerous from the lack of resistance.

It's not a big movement, it should occur just before contact would normally happen, so there's no real differene in range.

Check out some of the other Muay Thai clips on here and you'll see them doing the same thing. It's

  • Argh, that was supposed to be a reply to MADebunker

  • I held for NFL running backs and there is of course some resistance. I compare it to what you so just before someone tackles you. You brace yourself but not push too hard into it.

    Good videos.

  • An NFL running back doesn't kick for a living. A professional Muay Thai Kickboxer does. Not pushing into the kick a bit will get you battered and knocked around, possibly even injured (I've seen broken noses from people not pushing into the kick).

  • I too hold for and train Muay Thai Champs. There is some bracing and yes some forward movement but pushing down into the kick has never been needed. I have never been battered or knocked around from not doing it.

With focus mitts as well. This can injure the wrist. People's heads do not thrust forward into your fist as you hit them nor do they throw themselves into your kicks. I see no need for the hard push into the strike. Never with a recreational kicker (most people are recreational kickers)

  • actually if u move into an opponent in a fight it stops them from generating to much power, tho it doesnt work if they've got a sweet one inch punch, this is what shaolin monks do

  • translation: you won't need to push down if the person kicking has no power to their kick. That's your clue to switch schools. LOL.

  • Very good attention to detail. I like!

  • lol now i understand why my teacher was thunping me when i was kneeing him i was like what the fuck??!

  • porrra manero esse vidio

  • Great vid, i had my trainer watched it.

It has been a great help

Go on with this, it will improve my class and myselve

  • great video..lol @ "see what happens.I get hit in the face!"

  • Like those pad holds - different from what Chai taught me years ago. It does take a lot of practice to hold them right - so many seem scared to take the kick and move away instead of into it.

  • The man attacking the pads has very good techneik

  • Now I gotta show my partner this...he's the worst at feeding the pads...yesterday he lifted the pads higher as I was kicking and my instep hit the point of his elbow...now I can barely put weight down on my right foot. -_-

  • SamrtFist I HATE that too!!! Being a good pad holder is hard work and if they flake out you either spike your instep or you have to wait for him to get the pads into position screwing up your combos.

  • Very frustrating indeed man.

  • Yeah i get the same problem when people dont hold pads properly.

  • I think the key is to start nice and slow from the beginning and then build intensity as you move along.. this builds confidence in your pad holder once you get in rhythm... mistakes like that should never happen.

  • I hear you on that one.

  • Among the best teaching I've seen

  • this is an exellent video.....

  • World class fighter and world class training.

    Fantastic.

  • good video.

  • this is the shit!!

  • he calls push kick as Teeb? oh that's thai word!

  • teep

  • awesome kicks man is that jason day?

  • you fight him retard

  • Why not come on down here to Milwaukee and ask Duke or Jason yourself

  • the dude kicking looks like a computergame caractor

  • its a shame that he didnt fight derek panza at cffc 6... Panza would have knocked him out

  • The dude kicking scares me lol... He looks like a Muay Thai robot

  • watch his back hand when he kicks (middle kick)...tut tut...

  • Very well spotted

  • This is coming from a guy who said that it doesn't take any technique to throw a leg kick.

  • beautiful form

  • nice, i learn something after 4 year training MT

  • great vid

  • THANK YOU.

  • BRAV-O! it's about time someone who knows how to teach CORRECTLY finally does!

  • good work guys

  • awesome video

  • WOW! What a video! That was awesome! I totally agree with all previous statements.

  • great instructional vid!

  • im a wrestler and a bjj guy. i have to say i wish i had a striking instructor like this. im impressed. a striking instructor like this would really improve my standup. this guy has great instruction and proves how other techniques are not as useful. great set of vids. do you have a seminar in the future??

  • Thats power
