  • Christina And Mariah is the bestssssssssssssssss . by far,

  • Mariah and Christina is the bestssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • i love mimi

  • Mariah has to struggle with her whisper register, because she can't hold the note, it's broken up. No offense to her but she isn't a natural she can just manage to do it. That's what I think and don't try to argue with me, just my opinion.

  • @ILuvCaroline You could never do what Mariah does. Pshhh she struggles with her whistle register. Did she struggle to sell over 200 million albums?

  • @tweetygeee Do you know how many each album sold? I doubt she sold 200 million. She only has about 10 albums and a few only sold about 1-2 mill. I would like to see your proof, since you seem to know it all. And plus I have taking voice lessons for 15 years and Mariah is not the only person in the world who can hit whisper/whistle register, get real.

  • @ILuvCaroline only 10 albums you say...ONLY!!..thats alot plus she has 18 number 1's so probably they meant 200 million records....

  • @ILuvCaroline Mariahs not only an American artist LOL She has sold millions in Japan, and all over the globe. No in America she hasnt sold 200 mil but combined totals give her more than any other female artist EVER. Except it but it doesnt take away from whomever is your favorite. Mariahs just the 1 to beat LOL

  • @ILuvCaroline She has 13 ALBUMS and SOLD over 200 MIllion If you Know your MUSIC like you say you Would know Billboard Doesnt LIE!!!.... and Yeh people can sing whistle but guess what their not MARIAH!!! sorry though.

  • she is my favorite singer ever .. mariah careys really have a good high note voice .. ♥ it so much !

  • unfortunately Maria can't do this anymore.....

  • she really pushed her chest voice on Against All Odds!

  • One of the best singers on my list

  • 0:46 " Can't take that away from me" - Rainbow

  • 0:57 "Emotions"

  • miss you mariah carrey

  • what song 0:57?

  • Mariah can sing a scale up to 6 octives.. She is the shit:)

  • @Cerecedo1992 No, she is a 5 octave and beyond that is whipser register. You have to sing the full octave to be considered for each one.

  • great video. i see you bought a new lighter

  • 0:46 those notes are so crisp and and detached and.. Wow she is a great vocalist I am pretty sure no singer that's popular now can do a vocal run like that. She is amazing. By the way can anyone tell me what song that is please? :)

  • She can BELT without screaming..thats amazing!

  • THIS IS THE HARDEST LIPPED I EVER SEEN..EVEN DRAGG QUEEN CANT DO THIS...

  • @babyjamesprieto haters dont even know what they're talking

  • Please make more music to inspire us! And please save your voice. Don't talk and shout a lot...

  • @dude4dude12 That loud note? Not a shout it's actually whistle register which is an extremely rare register and it would only hurt her voice if she over did it as in like every other note.

  • @Gleek1able I know but it has to come to you naturally. I see that she struggles a bit to do it and can't hold the note for very long. But I know from experience that is does hurt at first until you become used to it.

  • The best singer ever! The queen!

  • Amazing....who can ever compare to that?

  • WHISTLE REGISTER IS GREAT,BUT DOES NOT MEAN THE BEST SINGER.SOMEBODY CAN SING IT IN FULL CHEST VOICE.

  • @youmel3 I strongly agree!!!

  • Watch ABBA The Concert and you will see Agnetha doing the ear/pitch thing. So there bigblyeeyes1234

  • I love how other singers have since copied Mariah's hand-in-ear-whilst-singing. I know Mariah does it to hear herself better, but no one really used to do it before and now artists do it even without having an ear piece in.

  • @BigBlyeEyes1234 Ella Fitzgerald had a tendency to do it when she sang, long before Mariah.

  • @crazy2hazy Yes, but Mariah is more well known for doing the finger-in-ear thing while singing and is a lot more likely to have inspired current R&B artists than ABBA. Since Mariah came onto the scene, loads of other artists have started doing it as well. So there, @Timberextra

  • @BigBlyeEyes1234 It's really not that uncommon. People do it to hear themselves better so they can be in tune. Mariah's more well known than a lot of artists, so I don't doubt a lot of people have imitated her.

  • @crazy2hazy Not anymore. And that's my point. Mariah is best known for doing it and pretty much anyone who does those high whistle notes (and also inspired by Mariah) do it too.

  • @BigBlyeEyes1234 People don't only do it for whistle notes. It can really be done for any note, but most people do it for belted notes that they're not sure will be in tune. They usually don't just do it for no reason.

  • @crazy2hazy The reason they do it is so they can hear themselves better in their ear piece, but a lot of people do it out of habbit (from either imitating Mariah/other artists or from the amount of times they've had to do it in the past).

  • @BigBlyeEyes1234 Ok then.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

  • that is why she is one of the best

  • i cant figure out the first song on this video is

  • what song was she singing 0:56-1:07? I don't remember the name...

  • @stevenfreeman52 Emotions.

  • Some of those performances are lip synced.....

  • she had an advantage cuz her mom is an opera singer

  • YOU BETTER FUCKIN SING!!!!!!! <3

  • mariah should be thankful 4 her mom being an oprea singer or she wouldnt learn how to do these high notes but anyways i bet she is

  • SHE'S AMAZING!!!!!

  • omg! her whistle high notesss how can she do that!

  • looking for Monica Naranjo and her high notes

  • looking for Monica Naranjo and her high notes

  • ahhh...! Cold Chils. I love her ! with my whole hearttt. such an inspiration.

  • where is 0:08 ?

  • her mom was a professional oprah singer, thats why she sings like that

  • Best whistler ever!!

  • @iwilljudge thanks

  • show'm girl eat that beyonce!

  • Best whistler!! Everyone can imitate her except the voice

  • She is really great!!!

  • wow! speechless me..

  • @TheCris1621 why, what happened to Xtina?

  • Comment removed

  • wauw....wauw....so out of the box :)

  • 0:24 what song is she singing?

  • holy crap

  • @skyedots OK

now i know rebecca black is the best for you LOL

  • She's amazing!

  • Mariah should save her voice for later on you saw what happened to Christina aguilera

  • @TheCris1621 She's been using good technique for most part, so her voice'll be mostly intact for about another 20 years.

  • @TheCris1621 Mariah has been using proper technique. Christina has not.

If Mariah hadn't been using proper technique, she would've burnt out a long time ago.

  • @TheCris1621

christina still has her BIG voice,if anything its bigger now days, raspy, yes but she hast lost her voice at all

    Mariah has!!

  • Mariah is the best

  • they put there finger to there ears to hear there voice clearly and blend it right

  • Which song is 0:43 ? :)

  • @romi9225 Can't take that away from me :)

  • I think all of her songs has hardest notes

  • shiiiiiiiiiiiit :O!

  • mariah is da best hands down !!!!!!!! love her!!! sooo beautiful

  • she moves her hands a hell of alot lol

  • this is hard? might be for others..but for mc..well hahaha idk..whistle register is her trademark and thats what she does best..

  • Some singers put their finger on their ear in order to hear their own vibrations which makes it easier to clarify the note if its too hard to hit. Just like singing bass on a quartet, some legends did the same such as JD Sumner, usually covering his ear when going low.

  • wspanialy glos cudowna kobieta i artystka kocham i wielbje calym sercem od zawsze muzyka bez niej stracila by dla mnie sens

  • Yes it does help Mariah to put her finger in her ear! She can hear herself better so she hits the right notes and sounds amazing like she always does! Especially as noisy as it is during a concert!

  • Comment removed

  • i don't think those whistles might b hardest for her. apparently for others without legitimate head register, but not for mimi. and there are actually a lot of notes that even mimi struggles to hit. you should have put other nicer notes.

  • Holy mother of god O_O lol DAMN!

  • could somebody tell me what song is that 0:42-0:49?

  • @MrAnthony1604 it basically has 2 names, the official name is Can't take that away, but mariah calls it mariah's theme :P

  • @MrAnthony1604 cant take that away from me

  • i love your voice

  • lol squeakity squeak squeaky squeak @ 1:05

  • The Best forever and Always CRT Forever

  • she puts her finger in her ear like the middle eastern do ...

  • The reason why they put the finger there is to get the feel of the resonance in their head to hit the high notes

  • what is 0:25

  • What song is that at :20

  • @XanderLiveTV Mariah Carey- Against All Odds From Her Rainbow Album ;)

  • I prefere her Belts but still she is the best singer/musician with the whistle

  • LOVE HER!

  • REGINE VELASQUEZ is still better than Mariah Carey in reaching those high notes and singing without even using the so called "whistle note".

  • @solobear88 hell naw, regine velasquez sounds annoying. she sounds like an ambulance siren wailin to cut traffic and as soon as she passes the red light she turns into dunkin donuts. irritatin!

  • @solobear88 Dude Regine Bitch Sucks Dick And Screeches............... Poor Dogs In Asia Have To Put Up With That Missile Like Noise. Mariah Is The Best And Will Always Be The Best At Whistle Or Any Other Notes.

  • I think emotiones is her "highest-notes" album xD

  • @juanruff013 Technically yes, she pulled a G7 in a live performance.

  • what was the song on 0:43

  • @LovableNails Mariah Carey- Can't Take That Away Rainbow Album

  • @1marisolmc thanks! :)

  • She can still sing, you should listen to Merry Christmas II you: Mariah Carey. ABC.

  • can somebody tell me why singers who is going to do one of those high notes always put theire fingger to their ear. does it help in any way? :P

  • @TheDevillon I think she can better control her voice when she puts a finger in her ear, because she's not disturbed by sounds that come from outside.

  • @MimiLiciousGirl

    ok, that makes sence ;)

  • @MimiLiciousGirl I think it may be because she have this earplug in her ear, so she can hear herself. When she presses that in, she may hear herself better.

At least that's what I always thought..

  • @MimiLiciousGirl it's because you can hear the pitch you're singing more accurately. If you're just trying to hear through your monitor you won't hear the correct pitch and it can screw up the rest of the song if you don't hear the correct pitch.

  • @MimiLiciousGirl it's because you can hear the pitch you're singing more accurately. If you're just trying to hear through your monitor you won't hear the correct pitch and it can screw up the rest of the song if you don't hear the correct pitch.

  • @MimiLiciousGirl i thought it was to help her with tuning issues because like think about it. put your finger and to your ear and sing a note. you can hear yourself better. thats my opinion. idk but yours could be right too haha

  • @MimiLiciousGirl its also because you cant hear the other pitches coming from the background singers

and it makes it easier to hear her own voice

  • @MimiLiciousGirl They so this to hear what they sing clearer! It's obvious! Have you ever noticed that earphone?

  • @MimiLiciousGirl thts true it helps to hit the right note coz she can hear herself better coz of the band and other noises and so she can stay on the right note and not go too high or too low without mean too

  • @MimiLiciousGirl no, its for the ear piece.

  • @MimiLiciousGirl No its because you can hear your pitch no matter how loud you are or the people around you or possibly for that reason too. :)

  • @TheDevillon As MimiLiciousGirl says, it helps her control her voice because she can hear herself, which helps her stay in tune. They make us do it during house music so that we know what we sound like

  • @TheDevillon , i think for you to hear your self better, especially when you're in a crowd with so many people.

  • @TheDevillon I do voice lessons, and even for my high notes I need to cover my ear. I think it's due to the echo from inside that you can hear and control your voice better, but not because of other noises.

  • @farzona49999 that, but covering your one ear while hitting high notes helps you listen to yourself so you wont go flat or go off with the key. try singing with one of your ears covered, its a good exercise to learn how to listen on your own notes.

  • @TheDevillon singers put pressure in one ear to hear clearly the note. when not, you hear your voice plus the vibration in the head made by the vocal chords which will make you not hear the right note you are actually producing. it is usually done when the note is high, especially head voices. :)

  • @rhoby0 cool, are you a singer? You seem like you know alot about it :)

  • @TheDevillon im an aspiring singer, should i say. haha!

  • @rhoby0 haha okay x)

  • @TheDevillon actually mariah who made that famous... she does that to hear herself better so she doesnt fail during the whistle

  • @TheDevillon

As your reading this, put a finger in each ear. You cant hear anything can you? Now speak to yourself, you can now probably only be able to hear your voice, thats why she does it, like the other person said, its gives better concentration and better control. =] x

  • @TheDevillon it helps you hear how you sound to other people, sometimes you hear your own voice differently than everyone else does.

  • @TheDevillon Whistle notes can sound very thin in your head and are hard to hear yourself sing especially in a large area...its so she can keep control and doesn't end up breathing out gasps of air with no noise

  • @TheDevillon maybe they do that so they can hear if they sing it clear? 'cause i think it's hard not to make it sound out of tune..

  • @TheDevillon It does help, when you're in a concert sometimes the instruments are so loud that it might be hard for you to hear yourself. Putting your hand or finger on your ears will help you tune, you hear yourself very louldy in your head!

  • @TheDevillon when your ears are covered, you can hear your own voice a lot better.

  • @TheDevillon you can hear the note better and get it on pitch easier.

  • @TheDevillon You can hear yourself better.

  • @TheDevillon

It helps you listen to you and only you, So you can get the pitch right

  • @TheDevillon Actually there's an inner set in her ear that plays the music while she's singing. When she sings that high notes it bounces whatever note in her ear which can be painful. So she's turning the volume down. If you've ever seen a performance where she looks in pain while doing it, that's why. Look in any artists ear and you will find one. Her's is usually diamond encrusted. It also helps her make sure that she's hitting the note right.

  • @TheDevillon Because when you put your finger there, you can feel and hear the whistle note while you're doing it, and it helps you stay on pitch. Sounds messed up, but it works.

  • @TheDevillon It helps you hear your self too

  • @TheDevillon so that the singer could hear him/herself (clearer n better). not for high note only but low notes too. U may try.

  • @TheDevillon because she has a little button that activates the whistle register. lol jk she can hear herself and control her voice better. some singers also do it when there's a lot of noise even if they don't do high notes.

  • @TheDevillon the singers put their fingers there because they have much control on their voice, sometimes they're afraid to damage their voices and hear the whistle much better

  • @TheDevillon so that u will out of pitch/tune

  • @TheDevillon it helps them hear how they sound when they are singing

  • @TheDevillon I think she does it because she can hear her pitch better

  • @TheDevillon When you put the finger in the ear you listen louder your own voice, like when you're in the bath and pool, and hear so clear your breathing and also your voice, cause you hear this from the chest.

  • @virgirocks That's right! That's the real reason for the finger in the ear.

  • @TheDevillon it's so you can hear what everybody else hears. Like @mimiliciousGiel said it also blocks out other sounds. The sound is different from what you typically hear. You can hear what your voice actually sounds like.

  • @TheDevillon Air is coming out of the ears, its painful..

  • @TheDevillon ...yeah, its basically a sound check thing... usally when the background sounds, noise, band, etc. is at a volume, that when your on the stage, you can't hear your own voice above the background sounds, and also when the theatre is large and the time it takes for the sound of your voice to go through the mic, and out the speakers and then return to the stage, where the singer, etc. can then hear the effect, not the creation of the sound, it's too late. It isnt, just for high notes.

  • @TheDevillon ..iot's also for simply the setting of a tone, form the sound of the note within your head, since you usually can't hear your voice, from mouth to ear, when its lous around you. It has to do often wit the step jump between notes, you don't know where to set your voice, to strike the note dead on, to start with, without swoomping into the corect tone Most performer have either wireless, nearly invisible, little ear jacks that pipe in thier own vocals, like when you record in a studio

  • @TheDevillon ..but often, it's for very disconnected notes, different volume of that note, or notes ina differetn register of your voice, so as to know where you have to approach hte note, in terms of placement and pitch and how close to the Mic you have to be...Mics are a bitch when you have to go into harmony, switch from chest ,mixed, head,to whistle tones, when they can't be set for all of them with the same ability to receive all the sounds identically to their original sound production

  • ..so you have to hear literally just your voice, isolate it, so you can be dead on, since it's so small in volume next to a huge orchestra, and the mics for them versus you, are set differently, to start with , in terms of ability to receive the background sounds...also, the rule usally is, to press your ear back, cup your closed hand to the back of your ear, and create a cup, to bring your actual voice to to your ear, likme a phone. When there is so much ambiant sound, you have to literally..

  • @TheDevillon ... place your finger(s) IN your ear, to not just hear your own voice, but to hear it "through" your skull, not even from mouth to ear,lol...it's why when people sing along with their Ipods, with their earplugs in, they usally are off key, because they can't sense the muscular sensations in their throats, with the accuracy of the final executed tone, so they just " feel" the sound, but don't know how to adjust volume, placement, pitch according to what they feel. I hope that helps

  • @TheDevillon she is pushing in the ear piece that singers wear so they can hear them selves. its not for anything but that.

  • @TheDevillon Or maybe she's pushing the earpiece that allows her to hear herself, farther into her ear so she can hear herself more loudly.
