  • Sony and Dell are the worst. I use to have dells in the past, until I bought a dell mini..the ssd failed, they wouldn't cover it. 1 month out of warranty and 0 sectors read. Sony viao, that experience is the worst. Of course there is more to this, but the two companies that will never see my business again.

  • customer service may vary from day to day with any brand. they have different employees working on different days. Some days there may be things going on which interfere with regular work this is typical of any business. I agree with you that it should not be that difficult to return a product. Dell is a company like many others that sells multiple products. when it comes to dell computers you are buying cheap generic equipment. IMO dell makes good monitors. don't buy anything else from dell.

  • Uh oh, I'm watching this video on a Dell. So far, this computer has worked great for me. My opinion is that Dell makes great computers, but when they do have trouble, their support isn't very helpful. The main reason I bought this laptop is just because it had good specs and it was only $390. I'm planning on just using this until I can make enough money for a Mac.

  • This teaches me something. I will always record my conversations with customer service, no matter how long they are. I also will NEVER buy new equipment online. eBay is different, you kinda expect to get screwed there, you take a chance :) . But with telephone customer service you have the blade, not the handle.

  • The bad thing about Dell is that they care more about the big corporations that buy computers in the hundreds rather than the causal customer. If you want a good product, ago with a (modified) Compaq, Asus, or build it yourself.

  • I used to have Sony vaio, and a Toshiba Satellite (2002) model, and the customer service for both sucked! I had problems with viruses, and so I decided to switch to Apple macbook pro (early 2008) and iMac 2010 model, and I have had no problems. When I call tech support to help me set up my airport extreme wireless router it was an American that helped me, and she was very professional and friendly.

  • dell computers rock but ther customer service over the phone suck's. your best bet is to do it over ther live chat on dell.com worked great for me. how ever your best bet is to take advantage of services like black tie and total protection at best buy. at least there you can see a person face to face.

Every time you need customer support, they send your call over to INDIA and you can't even understand the person you're talking to which means you never get your problem fixed. Boycott Dell.   • The transferring to the various departments is called the bureaucratic bounce. Apparently, these idiot customer service agents are not well-trained in their jobs, and it's very annoying and frustrating. That's what's wrong with customer service nowadays. It's a lack of job knowledge.

  • I drove 80 miles to pick up a reserved HP desktop computer. When i got there they couldn't find the computer in their stock room. They tried to send me away with a Dell with the exact same spec for the same price as the HP. Shortly after that they found my computer. I am so glad I didn't walk out of there with the Dell computer! After this video I will never buy a Dell, well I wouldn't anyway after what I've heard from people. :)

  • Dell hp acer whatever. all oem's all have ridiculous costumer service. Microsoft itself is the worst. apple's customer service is good but i always feel like i am being rushed off the phone when i call them. so they all suck. but apple sucks the least. :-)

  • I am very sorry you had to go through that. I went through Dell Hell for 2 years with their products, gave them a 2nd chance a year ago and they lost me for good. Now I'm with Asus for the time being.

  • About a yr ago I bought a dell Studio 1737 Laptop loaded with Vista Home Prem 32 bit

    As I had nothing but problems with Vista I purchased the only Windows 7 that would ungrade from the Vista on my computer(which is 32 bit)

    On loading 32 Windows 7, I have major problems .

    Dell Service (what a laugh) tell me they do not have the 32 bit drivers and just told me that they could not help me get my computer working properly.

    NO NOT BUY DELL .. they dont care about after sales service.

  • I had a bad experience as well. They would say everything from "You bought this in the Netherlands" to just a simple runaround as well. I finally emailed the corporate office and got someone with authority (as well as a senior tech) who took care of the situation. Horrendous that they are so misinformed and treat customers this way. I too am hesitant to ever give my money to them again.

  • I bought an extended service contract for my Dell computer. When I call them for tech support they say there is no record of my purchase. I have been hung up on numerous times and once one of their techs went into my computer and uninstalled a bunch of stuff. My computer was so messed up that I couldn't use it. I finally did a factory image restore myself to fix it. I will never own another Dell computer.

  • Good for you hun! i stopped dealing with dell a few years ago. I bought a desktop, Put a DVD/CD burner combo in it, i got the CD burner, not the DVD burner, and they charged me for it. They DIDN'T want to hear it and claimed they put in the DVD burner, they didn't put it in though but i was charged for it......The only Dell I want to get now is a 10 mini v but after seeing this vid, I won't. I was going to just hackintosh the thing anyway. I'm actually glad I purchased an HP Mini 110 recently.

  • I ordered an Alienware computer 1 week ago, this week while browsing their site, notice they were offering a rebate from the same one i bought last week. So i "tried" to call them to make a change to my order, and all it go was dropped calls, transfers, etc, etc, at the end in just cancel my order and by looking at your video i'm glad i did. Been doing some search on Dell CS and so far it's all about horror stories.

  • that's why you should buy computers from fry's or best buys. All you have to do is go to the store and tell them you want an exchange and if it actually does have the problem, they exchange it right then and there.

  • I've got a Dell, never had to deal with customer service (Sounds like a good thing too) but i agree that Dell have definately lost their ways. And don't even think about getting a cheap computer from dell, something as small as uploading a vid on you tube, can slow your computer down, so much that you leave the room for an hour and it's still loading up the internet. i uploaded a vid about 10 days ago, and my computer is still really lagging.

  • I have seen Dell computers die within a year. I dont know what it is but they tend to do that. Customer Service these days is usually a hassle. I have a Gateway right now and they have actually been helpful! I have sent it in three times. That is the bad part, but at least they have decent customer service to deal with it.

    AT&T hung up on me when I was trying to find out why my phone wasn't taking the internet I had subscribed to. After 2 hours, I hear someone say "just hang up dude"

  • I will never buy another Dell computer either. You can't understand their support people, they hang up on you, and they think there's nothing you can do about it. They're wrong. Many large companies have gone out of business because of just this same arrogance. I have had my last Dell computer.

  • I've had x2 broken monitors , and x2 broken Alienware towers, (broken lights, graphics card, headphone sockets, and fans). They are HIDEOUS to deal with (I'm in the U.K) the staff are really nasty, (thats if they can speak English) totally screwed me over...I've spent over £200n on phone calls .... NIGHTMARE!!!

  • When ever I call any buisness I always ask for a supervisor FIRST!!!! Dosn't matter if i'm a new customer or exsiting. I can not handle the air headed agents that like to act like they know how to help you and don't.

  • I think this is an important, well delivered video, people down below are saying yeah but their tech support is good - it may be, but that's one area - there should be a rounded service not "well he is a killer, but you know, he's great with the kids". I am going to do a video about Dell for a friend who's become a cash-cow for them. She payed slightly late and has incurred massive fees despite having payed her contract in full already.

  • If I ran a company like Dell and wanted to limit my returns and didn't want to be bothered once a sale was final, i'd have to adhere to the law, but I'd make it very difficult for anyone to get help after the sale. One way is I'd pick a really irritating tune when they're on hold with my company - say, ooh, "Lollypop"! I really think Dell are in trouble financially and their customers are paying for it. I've a friend on contract to them who's in debt 2 them having payed up! Dell=hell.

  • khesap, I am sorry for your expericnace. From your video I think that you got transfered from Tech support was becasue they assumed that didnt take want it troulbeshooted, and as they were Tech support you got transfered to C/S. Then when you got C/S they assumed you wanted it troubleshooted first. They would not have 'kept notes' as you was on the same call the same day. I have had on the whole good C/S from Dell at every level. I would say that its not allways that bad. But I feel ya.

  • Thanks for sharing your personal experience. It has been many years since i had to deal with Dell support. I had a computer arrive with a dead optical drive, and they exchanged it no problem. Obviously Dell has gone way down hill since, and I will defiantly think twice before buying a Dell.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I bought my new dell computer around April or May of 2009. I called them for about two week per month for a year. In November of 2009, they sent me a bent refurbished commuter. I will never order from Dell again. In addition, yes, I am very familiar with the lolly pop song. My husband and I listened to your story. I had the exact problem, but mine lasted from around May 2009 to December 2009. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM DELL.

  • Last year I bought a Dell laptop and swear never to buy a Dell product again. I discourage every one I meet never to buy a Dell again. I have had so many problems with this laptop and their technical support has not been able to resolve my problems. Here is what takes the cake: they have my laptop registered in some one elses name in another city. And they are unable to correct their records for one reason or another. So take my advice - don't ever buy a Dell again.

  • Hi. I hear a lot of problem with Dell services or products. I recommend you a Hp or Acer, is very good I think. I use both brands (for desktops, laptops and netbooks) and no problems.

  • I ordered a refurbished dell laptop, that has dark spots on the LCD screen and won't charge. I was on the phone with dell for 5 hours they gave me a reference number for an exchange not confirmation number and said it would take 25-30 days to get me a new refurbished unit... So on monday i'm going to call them all day until they send it out over night shipping, this is bullshit. Sorry you had to deal with this, it's unfortunate they make amazing products but have horrid customer support.

  • Wow. Between watching your video and Jon4Laker's, I have scratched Dell off any future purchase list. My blood pressure is up just listening to your experience! We had to return something to Mac (it was not even their fault), and they were wonderful. Customer service is everything.

    You should post this as a video response to jon4lakers newest video. He will be talking with Dell execs tomorrow 10/1/09 about his problems and they want him to make suggestions on how to improve their service. But he first wants to hear from us YouTuber's in the comment or video response section if we have experienced past problems with Dell because he is going to quote that in his meeting tomorrow.

  • That sounds awful. Getting a defective product when it's new. Also, this seems worryingly parallel to Jon4lakers story. If everyone is having these exact same issues then this is a massive oversight by Dell. I guess it links back to what you said at the beginning about the "Apple tax" and the great customer service, not to say that we should excuse it.

  • that's insane!!! argh, good to know. i have been thinking about getting a netbook too. i bought one for my friend but it was asus i am glad i didn't get her a Dell. if you got it from best buy then they would have had to deal with Dell. people don't take pride in there work anymore. stick with Apple : )
