A fine first effort. You might try folding the tank from different rectangles (legal paper, A4, etc.) to get an idea of how the proportions affect the tank's appearance.

Is there an origami group nearby where you can teach (and learn) in person? The OrigamiUSA site lists all the local groups they know about. If not, consider starting one. Llibraries are usually happy to make space available. Newspapers and local radio stations often have community calendars where you can advertise for free.

I think you did pretty good, too. I'm looking forward to folding one of these with my son. I agree with some of the others here: use colored paper and ditch the floral tablecloth. It would make it easier to see the folds.

Also, you should check out 'Between The Folds'. It's a documentary on people who fold paper. I really enjoyed it.
