  • Fuck you zoo bitches! Give them more food, you dont feed them enough. they are not for entertainment ass hole, they are living things just like the rest of us

  • Apes will rise. C:

  • those people i love the great apes i think thair realy sweet i would love to get a hug from one of them

  • For all those laughing that the little girl was worried that it may have been a meerkat that got out: She was probably saying that she didn't know if it was a large animal that could easily injure a person, or something small that was less of a threat. Regardless, meerkats are vicious little animals that won't hesitate to take off a chunk of your skin. Yeah, they're adorable. But they'll also attack a fucking snake for looking at it wrong.

  • Clever orangutan. Next time she will go to the food court and order a fruity slushee.

  • ahahahahah, "a lion... or a Meercat.

AHAHAHA, look out for those meercats

  • hahahahha LOL INCASE A MEERCAT GOT OUT~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHAHAAHAH i went to school with that girl

  • The little girl was saying none of the zoo goers knew what was going on/what had escaped...if it was dangerous or not ,"if it was a lion or a meerkat". Since either way they would close the park to catch the animal.

  • I do feel sorry for orangutans in zoos - they are so intelligent and it must be a dull life for them. But their species is so endangered and personally I believe that keeping a few of them in zoos is important, both for ensuring the species is not wiped out entirely, but also for educating the public. For example, the anti palm oil campaigns going on at the moment would be useless if people weren't able to see these beautiful animals and be inspired to protect them.

  • free the animals

  • This orangutan wants to be in the rainforest!! :-) Intelligence of a 5 year old? Might be higher than that to avoid electrocution.

  • orangutans are 97% human

  • @freshsmiles305 No, they're 100% oranguatan. Sharing genes and being the same aren't the same things.

  • lol meerkat

  • look its a meerkat run for your lives, oh look its a lion who cares

  • WTF? im sure the girl with the pink jumper that talks gos to my school...

  • Fucking people and their fucking zoos. What a bunch of animals!

  • @viniciusb Yes. Animals don't want to be in zoos.

  • @viniciusb They'd die in the wild, half of them have been rescued or cannot physically keep up in the wild, idiot.

  • A few months ago, a young male orangutan named Barani at Audubon Zoo in New Orleans escaped. The orangs had been given t-shirts as favorite enrichment items for years until Barani wrapped one of them around the electric wires and climbed out. After a brief taste of freedom, he decided that he had enough and calmly climbed back into his exhibit. T-shirts are no longer given to the orangs.

  • The ape knows naught of electricity. It was simply twisting wires out of boredom or play. Anthropomorphism = more apes kept as pets. Please do not try to "Humanize" them. It will only lead to more trouble for the apes, and a huge danger to Humans, too. This was made all to clear in recent by a case in U.S. where a person was mauled near death by a "pet" chimp.

  • chimps are more agressive than orangutans, and not as smart.

  • chimp's can and will rip our arms off if they feel like they want to when they are angry. But orang utans are stronger then us humans, so they could do the same if they wanted to.

  • Well thank god it wasn't a meerkat that got out that day...

  • Clearly, this orangutan so brilliant, she must be a Democrat.

I suspect all Democrats are closely related to orangutans.

  • "it could've been a meerkat"

What? Timon can hurt people now?!

What has the world turned into!!!!!

  • LOL that orangutan short circuited the wires.... LOL.

  • OMG!!! thats preetyy clever

  • aww shes a sweetheart.

  • Sounds like she's a lot smarter than a five year old human.

  • She knew that the wires needed short circuiting and she figured out how to do that. She's as intelligent as a 5 year old? I've never met a 5 year old who was that smart! She should be given human rights. Nice one Karta!

  • podobny do mojego szefa:]

  • if u r reading this u look like a monkey and ive wasted 10 seconds of ur life

  • thought it was a ginger

  • Comment removed

  • asdassa

  • haha one smart orangutan...nice

  • wtf she short circuited wires? rofl

  • it wanted that popeye 9 piece for $7.99

  • just like humans... they want freedom!!!

  • I wouldve just stayed in the Zoo. Fuck that, i payed for a ticket i wanna see my Bears!

  • i dont like monkeys

  • There's probably a good reason why the ape wanted to escape for a bit, taste a bit of freedom yeah?

  • let the fucking monkey go, it doesn't want to be in a fucking zoo!!

  • its not a monkey its an orangutan

  • its a type of monkey

  • no it isnt, their classification is different :P

  • pfft, ha.

  • hehehe XP

  • Orangutans are actually classed as apes, like chimpanzees, gorillas and humans. The difference goes back a speciative event in evolution when some monkeys lost their tails. The way to tell ape from monkey is this: no ape has a visible tail, all monkeys have a rather impressive one!

  • Please read this because it acually works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1.Put both of your hands on your chest

  • Mrs. Obama? Or perhaps a twin!

  • weak

  • Nah, the Sasquatch is not that smart.

  • Pro-God,

Man you are losing it. Australians are a handsome people, intelligent and thrifty, living in a tough land. Their women are beautiful, their men tall and strong. Whatever their past, they are an advanced people anyone would be proud to claim a heritage. Except for their obsession with gun control, Political Correctness and a few minor things like that they represent the best of the Western Lands.

  • theres nothing wrong with gun control... :P

America has one of the highest death rates involving guns.. australia have one of the lowest death rates involving guns..

i think gun control is a good thing.. only reason i think american wants guns, is coz thier consitution states they have the right to own a weapon :P

  • We just don't trust out own government. Also just because you control innocent civilians from obtaining guns there is no way to control illegal trafficking of guns. So now only bad guys have them and us goodies are defenseless.

  • No, in America, gun control is a bad thing.

I am American, and I think there should be no guns at all, but you have to understand both sides of it.

Most people have guns in there home to protect themselves from intruders. If guns were outlawed, the law abiding citizens would get rid of their guns, but the criminals are criminals. If they don't care about killing people, what makes you think they will care about breaking the law and having a gun anyway?

  • I totally understand why americans have guns.. both from the consitution to people wanting to protect themselves...

A lot of the killings are though of people protecting themselves.. which is my point why the fatality rate is soo high over there..

I totally understand where americans are coming from...

What im saying is.. the chances of me coming face to face with a gun wielding person is very slim.. therefore i feel safer.. thats my point :P

  • its too out of control in america to change peoples way of thinking.. so gun control wont work as effective over there as it does here..

Most criminals here wont be able to get hold of a gun.. therefore you dont have to worry about being shot in your own home..

where as in america you just dont know whos got a gun.. one person makes a wrong move.. BAM someones dead.. simple as that..

  • "Also just because you control innocent civilians from obtaining guns there is no way to control illegal trafficking of guns. So now only bad guys have them and us goodies are defenseless."

    this... this is why.

  • Hmm.... rather negative mindset to have. The system isn't perfect, but it still wouldn't be any perfect if guns were even easier access to those who just 'consider' being bad for a moment of a phase.

  • Its not a negative mindset, its a realistic mindset.

  • I understand why you might feel that way. But if you wish to speak in terms of 'realistic mindset' you should also acknowledge the whole picture and not just a small corner and point to claim 'oh, it's a fact' when it's just a small part of the abundant truths that also contain good. I live in America.. and it is quite dangerous. I feel bad for people who have to work at convenient stores, or go to a bad school.. cause you never know when the next 'casual' person might just --BAM! lol..

  • But even then people still move on with their lives. Not everyone actually LIVES with a gun, and when you do, you need a permit. That means bad guys can have permits too. Then walk around with it like nothing. I think I'd prefer to live in England. I wouldn't like it to change since the rates seem lower compared to ours, anyway. So if we can live our lives despite the dangers.. it shouldn't be too big of a worry for others over there. It's just not 100% secure. But chances are still lower. =)

  • well, that small corner is actually bigger than you think.

those occasions when a casual person goes crazy (not that often)... in my opinion it doesn't outweigh the benefits of protection from gun ownership.

  • Well, frankly, life is whatever perspective we give it. So I wont argue with how you see life and how that makes it turn out.

However, in my opinion.. if small corners are "bigger than I think" then imagine the entire room! Which is what I was aiming at. But this conversation isn't really going anywhere when something is being enhanced and focused on with the mind. So I'll leave it at that.

  • you understand where i was going though.

"life is whatever perspective we give it."

    i agree.

  • You should also agree that life also brings you what you expect of it to lol.

Then you'd comprehend my sudden concern for you.

But I wont get into the complicated theory/explanations.

I'll just hope you have a good life. take care. xD

  • lol, i just used to live in the ghetto thats all. so my perspective is altered from first hand experience.

I'm done with that stage of life though so all is good.

  • omg, it's very difficult for people to believe me in this stage of my life, but i too, was raised in the ghetto from my childhood.. all the way through my early teens and it truly is spirit-breaking. But your mindset really can and has changed lives from the very worst, to the very best. it may sound too good to be true, --it isn't. But now I understand better where you were coming from, trust me. I'm glad things are past that stage for you now, though.

  • thanks :).

  • i agree. to focus on just one corner - and make it your entire life- when u have the entire picture to also consider is kind've dumb. lol.

  • yep.

  • I agree with you that gun control is a more rational option. It's pretty funny that some people entertain ideas that owning a gun is going to help them rebel against the government if it tries to "get them." Let's be real. If the government comes for you you're a goner.

That being said I don't think guns should be outlawed in America because they're already so widespread. It's very difficult to retract them.

  • The main reason o have a guns is to overthrow our government if it does not serve the people.

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."

    Benjamin Franklin

"When people fear their government there is tyranny. When government fears people there is liberty.

    Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. -- Thomas Jefferson

  • how come no one overthrew Bush then? Oh right, brainwashing is much more effective than forcible rule. America's already at the state of mind where we are apathetic enough not to do anything even if the government was blatantly corrupt (which it was and still is).

  • Ha-ha that's funny... I've even heard of some morons electing a monkey to be the leader of their country.

  • Orangutans are pretty smart. They have been known to use currency in the past.

  • You obviously aren't very far up the food chain yourself. You can't spell, talk about things you know nothing about, and are crude and make nasty comments about an entire country. Australia's prisoners died out long ago. Its an educated country that offers full health care and quality college education to all of its citizens. Did you get your education watching cartoons? Time to turn off the boob tube and get a real education.

  • wonder what PETA think about this news.. Their 'client' go back to the 'jail' by their own free will :D

so can we assume not all animal fell trapped in zoo?

  • The thing is Orangutans are not here to be mocked and humiliated by humans. They are noble and intelligent yet the activity of humans must depress them.

  • Curator: "I don't think that we feel a little bit foolish."

What the hell does that mean?

  • Umm, not sure if you're serious....

    But hes saying...

"I dont think we feel embarressed about the incident"

Basically... hes saying the animal is smart, and its one of things that happens..

it escaped.. which they were pretty sure it couldnt.. until now :P

  • humans think animals are stupid. ha yeah right they are smarter than humans. if animals where in charge of the earth it will be peace full planet not wars. go animals.

  • Don't all you PETA whiners have a salad to toss or something? Use that brain of yours for a better hobby.

  • furry

  • A 5 year old doestn know how to short circuit an electric fence.

  • I take it you havent seen rugrats???

Those little buggers carry a screw driver in thier nappys

  • This is really sad. No species has the right to jail another. She should be free to be herself and not just be an "exhibit." She is a conscious, feeling being. No one should wonder at her intelligence, they should just be ashamed at their own lack of it.

  • i guess i would tend to agree with you.. if they were treated badly...

Zoos i've been to tend to treat all thier animals with upmost respect and allow city folk to admire the wild in which they otherwise wouldnt be able to due to thier busy lives..

  • Not to mention... most of the animals in zoos these days are animals who just wouldnt make it in the wild.. ie. EX Circus Animals, conficated animals from people without permits.. and also captivity bred animals...

Which because of the human contact.. will never make it in the big wide world due to poaching and the tough nature of the wild..

  • This is why humans need to be exterminated. The planet would be better if we all just disappeared .

  • yea ok, why dont you go ahead and get started on that. if you put a bullet in your head that'd be one less human and we would be closer to extinction.

  • Dumbass, if it was legal I would be pulling the trigger on all you faggots.

  • you sir are misunderstanding. if you truly feel strong about your opinion then be a real man and prove it. its very easy to state that all mankind is horrible when you do nothing to further your cause, make yourself a statment and pull the trigger on yourself, wich is alot harder than pulling the trigger on others my little lap top gangster friend.

  • No you dumb fag, pulling the trigger on trash like you is much easier...and enjoyable. Mankind can thank me later once the human race eliminates you parasites.

  • @PurpleWolvyz Modern Zoo's are above just showing creatures off, talk to any keeper they are all passionate about their animals, I went to the orang-utan exibit at Adelaide zoo yesterday and the keeper there was so passionate about the conservation of these animals and the sad fact is many of these animals are so close to being wiped out by greedy humans for the invented concept of money so basically Zoo's might be the last place these animals will exist outside of text books :-( ..

  • @SprattyD This is sad but true, we humans are the greatest threat. Watch them close, because they are watching us, I'd really like to know just how inteligent they are?? Ive seen them use Canoe's in rivers, use saws to cut wood, use hammers to bang nails.

Just from observation, then of course you have trainers coaching them for public shows. Ive heard stories of Monkeys soak in volcanic hot soaks, only to kick humans out, have a burst in health & subsequent population growth.

  • Kata FTW!

  • I don't think they needed to shut the place down Orangutan's are very peaceful animals you can feed them by hand and pet them they won't attack unless you hurt them.

  • it was just a precausion.. :P

If for some reason she did get threatened.. and attacked someone.. their safety record would be tarnished...

I think it was a good idea to close until she was back in her enclosure..

Though i feel sorry for the families first day out at the zoo :P

  • You are so ignorant. These are wild animals, no matter how long they've been in captivity, they are unpredictable. Its people who think like you that keep these kinds of animals as pets and act all surprised when they rip off your kids face.

  • I just watched a movie about them and even wild ones almost never attack its just not apart of they're nature. They're like the hippies of primates yes when threatened they will attack but what animal wouldn't.

  • And i've never heard of a child killing anyone either... until the first one did :P

  • Since you saw it in a movie it must be true. Of course. Sarcasm duh!Now what part of "wild animal" don't you get. These are primates that belong in the wild not in zoos just so you can pet them.

  • you can't really pet them in wilderness as they aren't exactly social and would run into your arms if noticed :D

I think it was best for the orangutan's safety that they evacuated the place - people are as unpredictable as any wild animal.

  • i think she just wanted to prove a point.

i can escape so you better start treating me with some respect.

  • OMG KILLER ORANGUTAN!!!!

Oh no, thats just a ranga.. Phew...
