  • 2001: a Snack Odyssey

  • Geez, this clip makes me dizzy!

  • Definitely inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey.

  • Mondo Weirdo...

  • Oh my god, it's all worth it to get to 3:40!!

  • My god....it's full of popcorn....wtf

  • WOW, that Wizard of Oz trailer had a bit of the "Triumphal Return to Oz" sequence that got deleted from the film! How come no one's noticed this yet?!

  • Wonder if Arthur C Clarke saw this...

  • Whoa, I remember that

  • "My God...it's full of POPCORN!"

  • oh my god.......it's full of stars

  • @sugaryourmind

    And those stars are delicious.

  • HE. SOLD. HIS. SOUL.

    FOR ROCK AND ROLL!

  • Seemingly inspired by the famous Slit-scan projector images produced for the 1965 era 2001:A Space Odyssey

  • This snipe would have been even better in 3-D. Imagine the popcorn coming right at you!

  • Screw the Sprite Intermission, check out that Wizard of Oz trailer!

  • after all that it was sprite and what an awsome wizard of oz trailer. a lot of still is cut differebt for theatreres even trailers, ive been hooked on this youtube clips for the last few night, i'm favouriting them all, their all rare now, great upload

  • Watch it to the end. You'll be glad you did.

  • Notice that at 1:48, there's a tiny clip of Dorothy's triumphant return to the Emerald City after she'd managed to get the witch's broom as demanded by the Wizard. This huge sequence, filled with hundreds of extras, got completely cut from the finished film and this fragment in the preview is the only footage that survives.

  • Instead of discovering the mysterious, awe-inspiring space child at the end of the psychedelic light-filled journey, we instead see that the culmination of the ordeal is actually a giant paper cup of Sprite.

  • And all HAL wanted was a fresh hot dog.

  • I last saw that Sprite ad on the big screen in 1986. It would have been more impressive in widescreen (then), but it still looked good.

  • You know, instead of going to Jupiter and finding immortality, Dave could've simply gone to the drive-in and discover that the truth of all the universe is buttered popcorn.

  • LOL

  • i've seen 2001 about 4 times now, and i never here ANYBODY say "My god, it's full of stars!", but people are ALWAYS quoting that. I'm not sure if that is in the novel and not the movie, but i've never seen it in the movie..

  • It's in the novel.

  • like whoah I think is where Heath Ledger got his drugs

  • wtf?!

  • LOL, Kubrick hack.

  • "My God, it's full of stars!"

  • Is that Orson Welles reading about the Wizard of Oz?

  • This ROCKS! Looks like that scene of out Willy Wonka where Gene Wilder and everyone was travelling on the Wonkaboat.

  • I want popcorn now... And candy. And some soda...

  • Mind blowing intermission!

  • Fantastic color!

  • This is actually titled, "Sprite Space" (1970). You want something really trippy? Play the soundtrack backwards for some surprises! ;)

  • What does it say? " Buy Sprite, you want some candy?"

  • Nothing nefarious, it just reveals the sources of the sound effects. :)

  • ill take some lsd with my candy please...

  • I remember seeing this one at the drive in in the late 70's or early 80's it is pretty cool.

  • that is some bizarre shit. awesome
