  • Who is that wanker in the white?? Is he taking the piss or something?? He deserves a kick in the bollocks for that! It's an insult to be on the same stage as Pavarotti and sing like that!!!

  • R.I.P. Pavarotti

  • Deep Purple sucks and song in english sux too... Pavarotti rocks!

  • @Overloaded5530 GO FUCK YOURSELF,,,,,But before that, go suck some dick......

  • haha pavarotti is like the good in fron of his friend for Afghanistan

  • pavarotti el mejor de todos los tiempos....

  • Awesome!

  • You do realize that his name isn't Deep Purple right? Deep Purple was the greatest rock band in the world (imo mind you) and the name of the singer is Ian Gillan. It's like saying Metallica is the singer of Metallica and not James Hetfield. Fuck me, you're such idiots... Also, if you can be bothered, look up Deep Purple - Child in Time and listen to it all the way through. You see, he used to be able to sing. I agree with this combo though, Nessun Dorma is not fit for anyone except a tenor.

  • Fuck Deep Purple! First learn to sing, then join Pavarotti!

He's murdering and torturing the song!

  • @ErnstJoy Fuck You Cunt.

  • performance magestic....

  • hmz i am very talented and open

  • Ouch

  • maravilloso SIGUES CANTANDO PAVAROTTI, AHORA LO HACES DESDE MAS ALLA DE LAS ESTRELLAS. GRACIAS POR TU EXQUISITA VOZ QUE JAMAS SE ACALLARA. DISFRUTO DE TODO TU REPERTORIO QUE ES INMORTAL.

  • maravilloso SIGUES CANTANDO PAVAROTTI, AHORA LO HACES DESDE MAS ALLA DE LAS ESTRELLAS. GRACIAS POR TU EXQUISITA VOZ QUE JAMAS SE ACALLARA. DISFRUTO DE TODO TU REPERTORIO QUE ES INMORTAL.

  • Ignoring the vocal quality, he should have at least sang it in Italian as it is an Italian song.

  • @pmytial Esatto

  • @pmytial Agreed ...

  • very hard to sing with the great opera singer !!! but he tried , bravo for his effort , nice

  • very very pretty !!! mersi

  • but pavarotti is my best

  • he had balls to stand up next to Pavarotti and sing......and this was horrible beyond any word can express..... :\

  • eterno

  • Its not bad, and there is a huge connection between classical and hard rock why not opera?

  • if Ian Gillian from Deep purpule tried this years ago probably would've be a bizarre but tolerable expriment....the things is Ian can no longer sing a shit, if I was him i would've put my life away myself after the most horrible voice and performance in the world, not to mention that Pavarotti clearly got the shits and his sensitive sense of hearing fucked. Love Deep Purple that's fore sure.

  • pavarotti was a fan of deep purple. although, this was a bit 'off' in terms of quality, it is more about the spirit of harmony between styles. no one in modern music can actually stand and match pavs in terms of power and quality. neither can pav sing the other styles. its about 'harmony'

  • @babystinky Totally!!

  • as painful as it was ,yes like ketchup on ice cream BUT we in 2011 will never forget this so thank god we are still alive to hear, see and talk about it re TO LIFE, AS WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS .........love and peace to all xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Amazing.

  • Pavarotti picked Gillan to sing this together. And thoug his voice is not at its best I think Gillan was amazing. He stood there next to Pavarotti with the RIGHT ATTITUDE and sung with his heart! After this pavarotti said " Obviously he is (Gillan) a GENIOUS"

  • So where is the rest of Deep Purple? To me it's just Ian and Pav, where Ian should have go back stage after the first note he sang. Sorry guys i'm a big fan of DP, but this is a big no for me.

  • most beautiful voice ever.

  • If you are looking for a GOOD rock inspired version of Nessun Dorma, just listen to Manowar's version.

  • pavoratti has wonderous eyebrows!

  • @PearlVisionBirch or Child In Time *gg*

  • Well, Ian Gillan in 1970, when he sang Jesus Christ Superstar would have done this amazingly. Time is not kind with many rockers, I see... Still he had courage to sing with Pavarotti.

  • @miki03soimu Pavoratti PICKED Ian Gillan for this....PICKED him....

  • Wow. So painful to watch. I cant believe white suit actually signed up for this ... he sounds SO bad.

  • Pavarotti owned Gillan! ;D

  • @PearlVisionBirch Child in Time would be better, but now he's dead

  • Embarrassing...Some random guy in a white suit trying to match it with The PAV.

  • made me nearly cry! ....

but not because of Gillan's not very impressive performance,

    but because of Pavarotti's singing.

Look in his eyes and you will see that this man clearly knew he was dying.

And still such a beautiful voice and a great way of singing.

    @KnightOwl2006

    you're completely right.

watch "symphony rockestra" with nessun dorma (Dream Theatre meets classic)....

    hard to take....

  • i think art is art and ian gilan and pavarotti are greate artists..........

  • i love purple & pavorottibut i"m sorry, that was painfull.

  • Poor Ian, all that screaming has dulled his voice.

  • Garbage. Luciano looks like he is thinking "what the fuck did I agree to do for money?"

  • @PearlVisionBirch He is a lttle bit...You know...Dead...

  • hum..... is this the right version? why sings songs which are written for others... hum.... i am not sure....

  • Like water and oil.

  • @PearlVisionBirch I'm sorry but Pavarotti is dead 4 years ago....

  • superb!

  • wuácala

  • wuacala

  • OUCH!

  • This singer:IanGillan from DeepPurple also did an album in the early 80's with Black Sabbath!!! Quite the contrast-going from that to this-lol!!!

  • grande IAN GILLAN, IDOLO ASSOLUTO.

  • This is just wierd, whats the point?

  • Pavarotti and friends.

Pavarotti with James Brown FANTASTIC !

Pavarotti with Ian Gillan " deep purple" PAINFULL !

  • That was NOT Deep Purple-it was just Ian Gillan.

  • why did Pavarotti walk off like that at the end of the song?

  • @PearlVisionBirch

pavarotti died in 2007, you´re aware of that right? ;-)

  • @PearlVisionBirch

du weiß das pavarotti seit 2007 tot ist oder? ;-)

  • the first time u can see Ian u could believe he's crazy O.o

  • Sounds like Ian can't hit those high notes anymore.

  • Would have been GREAT with the Ian Gillan of 1972.

His voice is shot, if this video is characteristic.

  • Ooooh noooo!!!! Deep Purple noooo!!!!! why you did it????? whyyyy???? I had a good concept about you ;'(

Pavarotti, why???? why did you let'em do it???? ;´´(

  • appena finisce pavarotti subito va via...non l ho capita sta cosa!

  • When Pavarotti sings, you can't hear the band/orchestra/his partner.

  • Gillan could have done it amazingly in the 70's...

  • ah fige apo do hamou re gillan!

  • God, I never heard this before, wow. thanks for posting.

  • come on gillian

  • big respect for both... great names, great singers... but as a combination - not so well

  • I dont think deep purples singer quite had the right pitch on that last note.....

  • @OFortuna3 He had the right pitch, but it was different than the Pavarotti´s one: Gillian just sang the final a third lower, because he probably wouldn´t hit the very high notes so that it sounded nice.

  • Very impresssive !!!

  • Wonderful production

  • Ian aint no opera singer; but, the maestro, Lucianno had his back! What a wonderful thing!!

  • have him sing smoke on the water and child in time

  • @Macovic and the gypsy

  • Maybe Rob halford could have hit those waves and high notes better. Smoke on the water Ian's finest hour.

  • dai è un paragone che non esiste... io amo i deep purple ma niente a che fare con il maestro pavarotti

  • Pavarotti 1

    Ian Gillan 0

  • Um homem formidavel.

    Melhor cantor do mundo!

  • und der Idiot will Nessun Dorma singen?

    Ist ja ein Witz!

  • 1:01 pelo-amor-de-Deus... alguém mate esse cara !!!! that shit

  • @pindamonhandaba que mico !!!!mico nada pagou um gorila !!!

  • FAIL - WOW - give it up Ian and stick to singing Rock and Roll. Man, that was painfully horrible.

  • I like Pavarotti, I like Deep Purple but these forced rock meets opera efforts are painful. Like putting ketchup on ice cream.

  • @KnightOwl2006 odd cos Jon Lord started life a s a classically trained pianist beofre becoming keyboard player to The Artwoods and then of cpurse Deep Purple

  • @KnightOwl2006 komment 100+++ !!!

  • @KnightOwl2006, I agree, man. Let Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) be a rocker. Pavarotti could have never been Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar the way Ian Gillan was... At the same time, Ian Gillan cannot be Pavarotti... LOL

I love both of these guys as well. But they ARE different as you said.

  • @KnightOwl2006 there is two guys that can glue rock and opera, one was Freddie Mercury (Queen) the antoher is Eric Adams (Manowar)

  • @plutao I've seen both Mercury and Adams in concert and you are correct: they both have operatic voices.

  • @KnightOwl2006 yes, i became metal fan after a duet with Monserrat Caballé and Bruce Dickson (Iron Maiden), but when i listen Nessun Dorma by Manowar, was a kind of magical experience

  • lol no one wanted credit for the idea

  • Somebody check Ian's pants...

  • das ist nur Geil da bekommt man eine Gänsehaut

  • Only...I mean only...when hard-rockers recognize the human face a a guy singing for the suffering...they prove they do not live-in-a-hardrock-bubble...

    but are Well-world-and-life-aware-PEOPLE!

    Bernard

  • ROTFL Ian is a fun loving dude.

  • Wow! The Deep Purple guy was TERRIBLE!

I think I heard the audience openly weeping (and laughing?).

  • @DrDeist I was THERE and you should have heard the laughter when Pavarotti tried to scream when performing DP`s Child In Time . Pavarotti`s management banned the recording from ever being released.

  • oh please how incredibly STUPID must you be. for pavarotti to sing rock songs are you soooo stupid that you don't understand that the styles are totally and completely different? Deep purple is just dumb to participate in this-can't you hear it ?Rockers are screamers-classical artists sing VERY cleanly-if you don't get this just shut the fuck UP!!!

  • Reminds me of the film The Untouchables where Sean Connery get's murdered.

  • What a Fucking Joke! Long live the king... RIP Luciano Pavarotti. Why he did this thing I have no Idea.

  • wonderfull song

  • increible!!

  • I would like to see that dueto when Gillan was young... it would be amazing!!

  • this is the only way to make Ian sounds like chicken!!!

  • very great

  • Esta no la tenía!!! espectacular dueto.

    AL AMANECER VENCERÉ!

  • The greatest song ever written...and sung by the best tenor of all time.It doesn't matter if Ian can't hang....they are combining their efforts for a cause born of love...that's what matters

  • argh!

  • when Ian starts to sing The sicret is locked inside my heart ... OMG it makes me dizzy :D

  • I think Ian did pretty good, I mean he's not a opera singer.

  • Ow, this is EMBARASSING.

  • ugh. pavarotti good. other guy... well thats just a shame

  • The maesto bids a hasty retreat when asked " whose idea was this?" LOL

  • Cheese pizza with no crust, all cheese! served with Vintage bottle of Pinot Noir.

  • Pavarotti wouldn't do that if Ian Gillan's voice wasn't good. Gillan tried his best and achieved something good. Pavarotti was just great.

  • WOW....They should bnned this video and burn all the evidence.

  • Pavarotti with James Brown was simply transcendent.

    This is merely a curiosity.

  • This reminds me of a decorator who doesn't known when to stop adding little oddities . . . they create a mess. Well, the simple brilliance of Luciano just peeks the horrible lack in Gillian's and the choruses part. Why fix something that's not broke. Well, if it was Pavoratti's idea, he must've been getting senile.

  • Aint Deep Purple, (is just the singer) but, still amazing song

  • @davidrmh So you recon that at 1.35 when the camera pans around that those two guys on guitars are not Roger Glover and Steve Morse.I better get my eyes checked then cause it looks like em to me.

  • Hey, no a bad Idea ! Cheers

  • By the way, this was EMBARRASSINGLY HORRIBLE for the Deep Purple singer here--just AWFUL. Pavoratti musta got paid a LOT to sing with this chump!

  • EH...Eric Adams from Manowar did it better....

  • Well that... Was interesting...

  • This is good. Ian Gillian has a lot of character in his singing!

  • Grande Gillan

  • Says it all really ,the master Pavarotti walking off stage without so much as a backward glance, leaving Gillan with egg all over his face.Ian best sticking to what you know, which is good old fashioned rock.

  • @macivor73 @macivor73 . It says nothing of the sort. Why do you small-minded people insist on comparing lemons wth apples? Pavarotti was a bloated, self-indulgent misogynist whose lifestyle killed him prematurely. He had a wonderful gift and he wasted it on behaving like a pig. But it's a stupid comparison to make in the first place, and your comment was pompous and ignorant.

  • Yawn~ LOL

  • valeu Ian Gillan Deep Purple ok....

  • THIS IS PAINFUL

  • Honesly it must have been fun to watch it. I'm still laughing my ass on it. It was worse than I could imagine but it was for children. They were both old past their prime. But Ian Gillian had truly an off night - disgusting.

  • So... am I the only one imagining Ian Gillian and Pavarotti singing Child in Time?

  • @lummond good idea! unfortunately impossible, because of Pavarotti

  • @reneemarieesther all true - but Gillan is not a tenor. he's a rock singer. And I wouldn't swap his 70s performances with purple or in Jesus Christ Superstar for anything. It ain't an operatic aria - I love opera too - it is just in another class altogether.

Not better, just a different place.

  • @MrWombat21 plz don't forget..opera plays rock music..you should study the history of rock music..good rock singer able to sing with opera or orchestra..

  • This just does not work....in fact it is absolute crap. A classic aria butchered !

  • @TheBadgerfat any time these guys try to mix the styles they screw up. always sounds great in theory though.

  • I love Deep Purple... But come on. What a bag of shite!

  • hahahahaha wtf Ian??? I guess it was for charity. Favorite part? "Who's idea was it?...Pavarotti: his, (walks off)" For the record, I love Ian's work with Deep Purple.

  • excelente cancion

  • Ok, this was just... horrible... Only way to save it would be to edit the non pavarotti dude out...

  • It's not Deep Purple, its Ian Gillan....

  • udire Vasco Rossi? - io ascolto AC / DC

NON LASCIARE MORIRE LO SPIRITO DEL ROCK!!!!!!

  • verissimo

  • Bravooooo...magnifico...total.

  • BRAVO.......!

  • Interesting. On the last chorus, they BOTH are singing sharp.

  • @plangentmusic You're right! Gillan pulled Pavarotti off key. LOL

  • Mmmm, Ian isn't cutting it.

Actually, Eric Adams of Manowar does a great job with this piece.

  • Que contraste de voces no?.....Resultado= Fenomenal....

  • A literally murdered aria. Ugly.

I like how Pavarotti doesn't take responsibility for this... "it was his idea!" lol

  • Deep Purple SE MATA PRA FAZER O "Vicerooooo".

O PAVAROTTI FAZ COM UMA TRANQUILIDADE HAHAHAHA

  • Why not just let Le Pav do it himself? Why does the audience cheer while he strains his voice and goes far out of his range? At least Pav knows his limits.

  • oh my,IAN is fantastic here!PAVAROTTI and IAN,what else is there to ask for!

  • Bravo ; )

  • jajajaajajajajaaaa.... pavarotti sings and go out jajajajajaja....

  • Why pollute such a good tune with a burned out Ian Gillan.

  • You awful cocksuckers what a pile pf shit.

  • If you can sing better than ian gillan?? GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

  • My kiss will end this cold and long silencio... ahahahaha I can't get over that part!

  • hahahahahaha

My kiss will end this cold and long silencio???

    I cannot stop laughing!

  • what a load of steaming hot shit!!!! deep purple????? what the fuck???? how dare they disgrace a legend with that rock/pop idiot??????

  • Go Fuck Yourself.
