  • wow i found an rz350 1 year ago on e bay in AU and decided to go for it . it had been passed in a 2 auctions before. it turned out to be a good one.upon opening the whole engine my friend dale only wanted to replace rings and clutch+ all seals and gaskets. He told me :" You got a good one"! this is 26 after the bike was produced. i do not missed my tuono 1000 any more. BLISSSSSSSSSSSSSS

May i add it has Toomey pipes .....let's burn some hydrocarbons in style , shall we?

  • sex

  • looks like its got the same motor as the banshee. sounds just like it

  • Nothing sounds better than a twostroke

  • Really nice to hear the RZ again. If you still have it can you make another video please? and maybe a longer one with it being ridden? It would be much appreciated thanks.

  • Lanny there is a video.. There. look in the all videos section its called TRIAL RZ350 Flyby.

  • same engine on banshees

  • Toomey's do sound good.

  • sounds just like the banshee

  • The Stuart Toomey pipes sound so good.

  • In Italy Yamaha RD (that means Race Developed) was never labeled RZ.

All the versions, from the late 60's to the middle of the 90's, air or watercooled, YPVS or not, are labeled RD... we use to refer to the different versions using the frame or engine initials... 4L0, 31k, 1WT, 2UA or 1GE, 47X etc.etc.

If RD means Race Developed... what's RZ for ?

  • Now why Yamaha never made a Banshee with the RZ500 motor I have no idea

  • weight

  • An RZ350 is nothing like a RD. Water cooling and variable exhaust port. The banshee doesn't have the variable exhaust port either. The RZ motor was designed before the banshee. As for the Toomey pipes, I have a pair on my RZ and they are bad-ass. They can be expensive on eBay(no longer produced by Toomey).

  • ACTUALLY in canada the RZ350 was labeled the RD350LC( in america it was made too, a few years before the RZ350 came out)

  • There is a Canadian version labeled RZ350 also, and it is a little faster/lighter than the US version.

  • This is only because of the pipes. The fairings were a touch different but the the candian versions only had more power because of the no emissions and were a couple lbs lighter because of it too.

  • The Canadian spec RZ also had lighter wheels, i had one, and my friend at the time had a US version RZ so we were always comparing them.

  • Actually Lanny, your friend "at the time" had a 1985 U.S. Kenny Roberts, which had the same wheels as the Canadian of the same year. The lighter wheels were released in late '85 for the '86 model year N2/F2, which you had. Regrettably production for the U.S. died in '85. Your bike was a monster, you should track it down.

  • Speedy, You are actually correct that the emissions restrictions were the difference in the corresponding years. In actual fact though there were performance enhancements with the N2/F2 across the board. The combustion chamber and porting changed (port shapes and timing, particularly the inlet port, where a secondary port was added linking the intake and scavenge ports. The expansion chambers also changed, but both Lanny and I ran Toomeys. I feel the RZ/RD and Castrol call!!!

  • @Lanny615 The Venezuelan version is the same as Canadian, woth out regulations, specialy the RD350LC limited edicion, the RZ are wird with this YVpS, I have one RZ`california yellow KRoberts, is nice, but I beleve the RD350 LC is faster.

  • RD or RZ , is basicaly the same engiine, but gear box is totally different, the 2 weel bike is superior.

  • a banshee street bike....siiiiiiick!!

  • no, the banshee is an RZ quad.

    ;]

  • haha. well to the young people (like me) its a banshee street bike. btw, can you mill and port an rz like you can a banshee?? would be sick to see a cheetah cub rz350!!!

  • lol im 16

    =P

  • agree

  • technically the engines may look the same,

but the RZ has a much sharper power band, its almost on or off.

the bashee's engine are generally smooth over the whole range.

  • i agree but lol not when its built. with a built shee either your stopped or your hanging on for dear life. lol

  • not really... it's pretty sharp too the only thing they did to it for the banshee was change the port timing for more bottom end, but it's still a night and day difference

  • WOW! those toomeys sound good. I had an RZ many years ago and i put on a pair of toomeys and a jet kit, made the RZ fly low.

  • nice bike i have a 350 banshee with the same pipes but mine is a quad

  • Are these bikes loud?

  • they sound close to the dg's i put on my '85!

  • where do you get these pipes from, all i could find was info on the banshee?

  • The pipes you could find on Ebay, But I doubt they will be unexpensive, they are outstanding quality, Look under RZ350 Or Banshee engines, You need to find people That are into 2-stroke, that will tell you about these pipes, and aswell they are rare to come by because they were only manfufactured in limited quantities... :(

  • what tyres are you running on your rz

  • I beleive them to be Pirelli ^_^
