just wondering, if i go for the 10 week summer option, how many people will be there? someone told me less than 100, but it sure looks like more than a 100 to me here
Yeah when i originally gave my OSO my app we decided on the 10 week PLC-C option. However, I just saw on marineocs website that this summer's PLC-C may be canceled / combined with OCC.
I believe to be an officer you need your degree - so in order to actually become a 2 Lt. you need to graduate. Double check that though.
@ badonkulos- That is true. I just graduated from PLC Juniors this past year and if I choose not to return then that is entirely up to me. But its stupid not return to because either you want to be a Marine or you don't. If you're considering it, that's awesome! But don't waste the Marine Corps money, and even more importantly their time that they will invest in you (as you will learn if you're accepted to go to OCS). Hope this helps.
@badonkulos if you have that mindset, you shouldn't be going in. but, i am 90% positive that your recruiter / OSO is correct. im saying 90% because i dont want you pissed off at me just in case im wrong ;)
@TsangBokyan thanks tsang and i understand. If i finish the program i will take my commission. I just want to make sure i will be able to finish school if something does happen, but after college if things dont work out i probably will join a service. GL to you
@KRJ220 What was the hardest part aboput PLC juniors? Im thinking of doing it next summer. My PFT as of now is 11 pullups, 22:30 run, and 102 crunches. I got a lot of work to do i know, but im doing it. What about the leadership aspect? Thats probably what im most worried about failing.
@R7300 Those are pretty good PFT stats. I would work on getting your run time down to about 20-21 mins. I am a female candidate, however, all our training evolutions are with the males. Our SI's were running us at about a 6:30-7:00 pace many times (There's only about 5 run events in juniors as they're geared towards UBD's). You'd be surprised how much faster you'll get with the motivation of your peers and SI's. Stew Smith has a great workout program for OCS and it made the PT there seem easy.
@KRJ220 yeah i figured about a 21 is where I want to be, since i stopped lifting and lost a bunch of weight in the last few months i think i can get it there. I used to be at 21 when I was the weight I am now. Its all about being skinny lol
@R7300 Yeah, if anything the big guys were the first to go. OCS as more about endurance than strength. Focus more on plyometrics and lower leg stuff like squats and lunges. Running with a weighted pack will help you drop time as well and prep you for the humps (which if your short and weigh like 110 lbs like I do then they suck!). Throw in some fartleks about 3x's a week. It's all doable, you'll be fine.
@RedFang4 OCS is Officer Candidate School. For the Marine Corps all officer candidates must have a college degree, or be enrolled in college during their time at OCS. There are multiple pathways to be able to go through OCS, though PLC and ROTC are the two most common. Check out officer.Marines.com for their officer recruiting website. JROTC will neither help nor hinder you. What is more important is to have excellent academics and extracuricular activities, preferably with leadership experience
@RedFang4 PLC is a 6 week OCS that you take during college of your freshman and sophmore year, then in your junior year, its 10 weeks. during the summer and its hell
@Biodeltron Real Marines are made by Marine DIs. OCS, Parris Island, San Diego, doesn't matter. The Corps doesn't discriminate, and neither should you.
@BKPLDD1 Doesn't really matter, any degree is accepted. There were art history and music majors in my platoon. The instructors gave them shit about it, but it doesn't matter, we all do the same training.
@USMC2800MARINE I didn't go through boot camp. I wanted to enlist after high school but I got a really good scholarship, so I decided to go to OCS. I'm not sir yet, I don't pin on bars until I graduate.
so after OCS are u consisdered a US Marine in the same way you are a basically trained marine when you graduate from enlisted bootcamp or are u only a marine after the basic school
Awesome video- I graduated from PLC-C this summer. We started with 49 females, ended with 15. Congrats to all of those who have made it- good luck to those who want to try.
@JTF1023 The info on when and where to sign up is on the net. Yes, you get to keep your uniforms and there is very little difference in the psyical training between enlisted and officers. More attention is paid to teamwork among enlisted basic trainees vs officer trainee ability to lead and make tough decisions. The PLC is taught by experienced NCOs and they ensure any officer who may lead them in the future is very well trained. Otherwise they flunk out.
tell me about it. I'm trying to see if I can get permission to use the audio. I went through the Platoon Leader's Class and I just finished Seniors this summer and have two semester before I accept my comission. Are you considering trying to become a USMC officer?

I have a few questions to the uploader, considering doing PLC myself.
1. How soon do you have to sign up for PLC before it begins?
2. When does PLC start in summers?
3. Do you get to keep your fatigues outside of PLC?
4. Do the physical requirements differ from Enlisted?
Thank you!
