Btw, the lever on R.hand side of petrol tank is attached, by that long rod, to the reverse gear lever. 4x forward gears & 1x reverse. Very useful for parking your bike+sidecar! I have a 1981 Dnepr MT11 outfit with same engine.

@starbuck680 Suzuki 2-stroke twins from late '60' and '70's had left-hand kickers, but with the shaft running across the frame, unlike these boxer twins. The kickstart on this Dnepr rotates OUT from the bike! I have a Dnepr MT11 and a Suzuki GT500. And a 'Guzzi Cali 1100i, but that's just got 'lecky start. One of the weirdest kickers I've ever used was on a mates Jawa 350. That had a R/hand kicker that was also used as the gearchange lever :-)
@starbuck680 Hi. Yes I'd never seen that arrangement before, or since! Unfortunately 'though the Jawa went well(-ish) in a straight line it handled terribly-originally it had a sidecar which had twisted the frame.
Result? The bike would almost fall into R.hand corners but you'd have to literally hang off it to get it round lefties! Or was it the other way round? 30yrs ago-can't remember! Lol
Dnepr's have good torque but def. not for thrashing. This is a nice chop-I like!
