Hyacinth is such a legend in her own mind. Her obliviousness, and her spectacularly exacting bombast, remind me something of Ignatius J. Reilly in "A Confederacy of Dunces"... If actual reality ever managed to intrude on her carefully constructed world, it'd fall to pieces. Like it wouldn't be 1/10th as funny if she ever realized that everyone is terrified of contact with her and flee at her approach. Even on those one-sided phone conversations ("Oh, you do remember, vividly! How nice." XD).

Delightful show, makes me feel special since I own my own set of Royal Doulton china, only mine has hand-painted roses instead of periwinkles ;) Hyacinth makes me feel that I am in good company and removes some of the guilt I experience from staring down the people that clank my Old Country Roses tea set around.
