Don't belittle other services or other people just because you don't get it. If you haven't served in combat, but heard a mortar go off at night and claim your combat action ribbon with a serious face, and tell stories back home, "Yeah, I was over there; it was bad", then save your BS for someone else.

I was a Marine (4 years from 93 to 97) in the states. Never had to deal with any of it. I feel for each person that is over there and comes home with PTSD. I had a few beers at a 4th of July BBQ with a few combat hardened Marines and watching then jump with fireworks went off was...eye opening to the whole PTSD thing. ive had a extreme case of ptsd and am 100% disabled. the painful part is when the neighbor kids cant play with my kids because they are afraid of me. possible employers wont hire me. they dont say why but i know thats why i never get the job. i cant even get a job at the local animal shelter. i love and pray for all of you. getting stable is the easy part. wait till you have to deal with the discrimination.the cops harass me all the time. i think they want me to fuck them up. they taunt me often

I served in the first Gulf as a cross trained Medic. It was the end of the road for me. I have PTSD but would still go again if I could. My brothers and sisters in Arms can still use me. Cognative therapy did not work for me.
