God help us if they get any more power, Republican's have done enough damage , they are simply incapable of running this country. There ill affect's are still reeking havoc, dividing this country. They have managed to get the whole world mad at us, Outsourced our job's, run us into deb't, Billion's in cash disappearing in Iraq, Taking our right's away, Trashing the Constitution, Torture, Wiretapping, Supreme court appointing Bush, Illegal war's, It's just endless. Please get out and vote D.
@ratsnacage1 The name suits, I hope you never get out of the cage, after the dems and Obama, you won't know how to spell "rights", Obama has taken health care, the auto industry, and the banking, the new bill, gives him the power to decide what companies fail or stay in business, and F. Mae and F. Mac are not included, the gov. controls the mortgages of which they now own 96%. The debt under Obama is the highest in history, the New York Times recount in 2000 proved Bush did WIN.
As long as Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin remain the headlining Republicans, then the party is going to have a hard time resurging in any meaningful way. They might pick up a few seats in congress and make it even harder for Democrats to pass legislation, but they're not going to redefine American politics.
If they want to come back, they should re-establish a track record of responsible governance on the state level because the next Republican president is going to be a former governor.
2009s gains were clearly an illusion. republicans gained 2 gubernatorial offices that have no influence whatsoever on national affairs, while losing a congressional seat that they held for centuries amid internal conflict between rational conservatives and fringe radicals. the republican party has no cohesive principles save corporatism and opposition via malinformation and obstructionism. many of us conservatives are yearning for a sanity that republicans have forsaken by siding with extremists
ideas & liberal dangerous laws & policies that limit American's rights & choices. I don't care about who is voting for the right or left, I just care for my country & that's one big reason why I served in the military. I don't really care what you think because you're obviously a hater & you can't agree with anything anyone says. I guess were all wrong & you're right? Right, I bet. Most people I know, & have met from traveling alot don't like Obama & don't like what's happening. You take care.
I laugh at the idea of a resurgence of the republican party. I just plain laugh at it... They're driving away moderates faster and faster with all this paranoia, fear, and ignorance. The more poor people they're policies make, the more people who will flock to the Democratic party.
Too bad you took "new math" and can't read statistics. The independents are running like Jesse Owens from OSambo and the rest of the lib/Dim/commie party., Rasmussen, Zogby, even Gallop all show the Kenyan Commie Boy losing faster than even that moron Jimma Carter. LOl! I know it's eating you poor little libs guts out, but shit happens. In2010 we vote out the commie leaders and retake control . Then O Sambo does what he is told intil 2012. Get over it. Even SNL is making fun of the nigger. lol
your completly wrong and medicare is better managed than the insurance companies are. Theyare gouging the hell out of americans and we need to get the medical industyr under control at least for those who are exclued from insurance or priced out of medical help.
Medicare & Medicaid are both heading for depleted funds in the next few years. Mismanagement is just one of the many reasons why. Our govt. is incompetent. You really want to trust them so far as to having control over your health choices for yourself & your family? I have private insurance & my insurance is pretty good. I have no complaints about mine. If this bill were to become law taxes are going to get even higher & insurance WILL become alot more expensive. That's a fact you can't distort.
the claim that they are out of funds has been lied about since the inception of both those funds. As far as you having your insurance good for you till you get kicked off for some reason. This govenment insurance is necessary to coverthose who areexcluded for preexisting conditions and to insure that every is covered so hospitals dont have to shut down from coveringa all the uninsured
anothething. Insurance companies claim they need about 12% to cover their overhead to run thier compnaies medicare covers their overhead with around 6% so whose more competent.?!. You need to read more my friend and try to find the turth not just things and people that confirm your beliefs
the complete lack of locgic in stating that your insurance will cost more is pure bull shit the insurance companies are afriad of the competiton thats all if anything your rates could very likely go down and you will be able to stream line your coverage better more competiton especially from something as large as a government insurance compettor will only help reduce rates my friend use your head and quite spouting hysterical right wing incompetent bull shit
You my friend opened up a can of worms & gave me the right of way to call you names since you're calling me some right wing nut. Let me ask you something, do you work in the medical/healthcare field? Are you working for the govt at a level that is dealing with this subject of healthcare reform? It really doesn't matter if you do or don't but what I can tell you is that you're wrong. Prices will go up higher, wait times will be longer & people like you will regret ever supporting left wing nuts.
Your delusion that prices will go up is completly unfounded my friend and yes I have a brother who is a surgeon and a father who ran a hospital so yeah i kinda do know that you right wing losers are only playing to the song sung by the insurance and pharmicutical companaies who are deathly afriad of any cometition
right-wing nut is perhaps a bit too strong, however, reactionary is a term that is more descriptive and fitting. And a reactionary will be the one most resistant to any kind of change, they always have been, and always will.
What kind of change? The hope & change offered by a fool like Obama & his people??? It's funny how a bunch of former Clinton era people work for him & he spoke of change. How is THAT change? I'm confused. I'm not confused though about the kind of change that's happening right now as we speak. This change, this hope is more like a deceptive way of controlling American's lives & forcing us into the wrong kind of change. I like change, even some adversity but not on the route were heading.
Show some respect buddy. I've shown you respect. I'm a Iraq war veteran & I think you need to get some education you fool. You're calling me names on what basis? You fool, don't act arrogant on here because it makes you look silly. What is your problem anyway? Answer me.
Here's your answer ...... you have a chip on your shoulder. Grow up, and get an education yourself. It's not arrogance that's your problem, in fact, it's more like intractable hubris that makes it hard for you to communicate effectively where someone will listen to you with respect. I, nor anyone else, owes you anything. If fact, as a vet, you are doing your fellow soldiers in arms much more harm than good. Everyone want's to love and revere a soldier no matter what decisions are made by
Furthermore your delusions about Obama make people like me question the integrity of people like you. Answer this. Do you know how many people who voted for him wished they didn't now? Quite a few. Not that it's important but you're nothing but an old man trying to make a point in this newer world of changing policies, differences & follies. I have an education, an ongoing one & it pleases me to take on idiots like yourself. I remember one like you who ended up without a tongue. You idiota.
A chip maybe on your shoulder. The only harm I'm doing is telling you that you're acting as an imbecile. Don't preach to me about respect when you were calling me names. I haven't said things like you're a bigot to you. Who said anything about being owed anything? You're not as smart as you think you are & trying to play psychological b.s. with me isn't working. You just don't like that I don't agree with you. That's your problem bub. If you don't like what I say then don't reply to it. Simple.
You grow up. Stop insulting others on here because you have an inferiority complex. You're not as smart as you say you are. Come say it to my face on top of it, we'll see who walks away.
Your have your teabagger parties with angry old fools who listen to the idiots on the Fox Propaganda network And I will express my opinion wherever I see fit.
and you're a poorly educated or uneducated individual who probably comes from an isolated background, who , like Sarah Palin, hasn't traveled much. (with the exception of the military.) And I don't care if you disagree with me. I do care about the misinformation machine and the cloning of propaganda from reactionary sources who thus far have failed in both foreign and domestic policy now for many years.
Oh buddy, I've been to more places than you. Count on that. Not just in the service but in my personal time as I know that it makes me more rounded & cultivated to know more than just the U.S.A. I don't even like Sarah Palin, she's a fluke. My background is far from isolated. It's more of a deep & far reached background. You keep throwing poorly educated out like it's candy but you don't know me. I'm far more educated on today's world & the past history than you want to know bub.
Your attacks are weak. Give it up. Your psychological b.s. doesn't work on me. I've seen more action than both your sack ever have or ever will. I just want the United States to sustain itself & grow. We need to stop outsourcing our jobs to other places that don't care about us. We need to stop voting for imbeciles who think that the voters don't matter. I wouldn't mind having a good debate with you or anyone else but I don't like know it all's. There's always something to learn.
The govt. doesn't have any right to get in the middle of private sectors business. A govt. run healthcare will take away our freedoms even more as far as our choices of care go, how much we pay, fines (tax is what it really is for those who don't want any insurance), longer wait times & budget deficits will be higher for years! Other consequences such as our govt. will get more balls to tell us we can't eat certain foods, drive certain cars & so forth. It's all true whether you like it or not.
Really? Like Bush tellin ALL the school kids they HAVE to pass a certain exam put out by the government? hahah m,y friend the government has every right to secure basic human needs in a society
Health care is a COMMON BASIC need in society like cops and schools and road etc you thinink that it should be left up to private buisiness when that HAS FAILED is hilarious dont try to start arguments whith men far far more experinenced and educated that you pal or yu will eat those worms my friend
Besides you typical parinoid right wing luny NO ONE is going to take away the option to buy any insurance you want THATs pure propagand put out by the insurance/pharma companies idiot
the reason for mandated insurance is the same as car insurance being manditory in every stae now it wasnt till every stae realized how costly that was to innocent victums NOW the victums are hospictals who MUST give coverage to the uninsure at the emergency room and hospitals have closedd THATS you losing your choices my friend
No one is asking for an ALL government run health care system FOOL just a way for EVERYONE to have SOMe insurance WHAT PART OF THAT CONCEPT GOES OVER YOU LIITT pin heads?
Laughing: No, you're the fool for one, trusting anything our govt wants to do & 2 for yelling at me on here. The fact of the matter is, is that in all of human history when a govt. claims to want to help out like this to do a service for the people it turns out to be the total opposite in the end. It becomes the ONLY provider of insurance or whatever the product maybe. The only guy here with a problem with that is you it seems. You're paranoia of anyone who sees it differently is amazing.
Really? You mean like how the government provides public schools yet I attended private schools for over 12 years hahah man you are a typical misinformed bent right wing nut.. take care
You numbnut, public schools are a joke! No one I know who ever attended public schools ever thought they were efficient. 2, I didn't vote for anybody on the right side or left side. Shows what you know about my voting history. I believe America is best off without a bigger & more invasive govt. & that's the bottom line. If you can't or don't agree with that then you're the lost one. I think American's need to fight for their rights & not let the govt. & more so those who were siding with liberal
Well, I have been teaching both high school and college freshman for several years now. Many of , if not most my students are graduates, some went to graduate school and a couple have gone to medical school and/or gotten PhDs. They cross all ethinic and socioeconomic lines as well. My daughter is a product of public school also. She will be graduating from Carnegie Mellon next May and staying one more year for her MS in public policy.
Glenn Beck et al and the misinformation machine is the problem. Glenn Beck, sean hannity, ruch limbaugh, all have some pretty strong and unfounded opinions yet do not back any of them them up with actual public service.
Misinformation, with the C-street gang at the heart of said misinformation and innuendo ..... it hurting America
The problem isn't Glenn Beck although he sometimes comes off a tad bit too much. The problem is people not speaking up, not getting active, being complacent & stagnant. Add to that the misinformation being thrown out from both sides of the parties. Then add people like you who come out & insult others because you enjoy it. It's way easier to let the mouth & tongue flow on here than it is in person.
Kind of like the Reaganomics. Reagan promised reduced govt. spending yet by time he left office spending was way up & the deficit had continued to grow. We haven't had a good president in over 40 years.
well, 40 years ago puts me in high school and the era of Richard Nixon .... and we all know about that guy. The 60s, no doubt, were a very troubling period in America, but we came through it.
The deregulation of banking and finance industry starting during Regan and subsequent to that time, was probably what ultimately led to the NUMEROUS fraud case starting with Lincoln S&L and culminating in the Madoff scandal. Sometimes government regulation is a good thing.
Add to that a crap load of CZAR's appointed by Obama & not approved or vetted by Congress & you get a host of new entities that aren't beneficial to America. I ignore the teachings of false prophets but I don't forget that they're here.
but the term "czar" is a politicized term, one give by some journalist whose name I can't remember ..... either way I thing the term czar is used pejoratively and excessively by the far right... sorry
you're more concerned with what you perceive as insults than you are the problems and issues. If you care about your country, pick up a newspaper of record, and turn off the reactionary idiots that are manipulating you. Like you, I went through a similar phase when I was younger. Time and events will change you, and you will find that your schema be a synthesis of the events you experienced in life.
Don't compare me to you when you were younger. Time & events have changed me only because I pay attention. 2.) I don't have cable t.v. I choose not to. It's far more interesting to read the paper, study books & not listen to a bunch of imbeciles rag on about what's not really important. I have essays & writings devoted nothing but to the issues of America. Unfortunately many don't share my enthusiasm. Why else would I come here to debate with people?
For example. We need to leave Iraq & Afghanistan. We've done our job over there. The only reason were there is to solidify our presence in that part of the world so no one forgets that were still the powerhouse. I'm sick & tired of the administration not pulling the men out of those war spots. We helped Iraq, we've been in Afghanistan too long. I don't believe in defeat however I don't think we can defeat the Taliban for good.
OK..... in your opinion .... .rhetorically, will these governments collapse after our departure leading to the establishment of the Taliban or radicalized islamist government that will be a breeding ground for terrorism?
I'm thinking of the lessons learned during and post cold war era where the threat was the "spread of communism."
We need to 1st leave. 2nd, we need to leave some sort of small force, maybe 5,000 Marines, to help reinforce that Iraq isn't a place to start a breeding ground for new terror. 3rd, we need to promote public diplomacy to help alleviate fears & try to build relationships with other nations while at the same time not putting ourselves in a defeated position. Sharing ideas & aspirations will help cultivate healthy relationships with those Middle East nations. However we need to retain a backbone.
I'm not as concerned about Iraq, it's time to leave and the President is committed to that end also. This Afghan situation has concerned me for a long time now ...... since the time we decreased troop size to commit to Iraq .... which I will always hold as a BAD idea in the first place that led to the polarization of our political parties and probably the reason you and I are ardent political opposites
Well our president has done nothing to keep his promises from his "convincing days" while he was running for president. In fact were adding to Afghanistan which I don't like. I don't doubt the General's need for more men but I don't know if it's in our best interest anymore.
We have already. Do I think Mr. Osama is alive? Well, I think he is but he is probably not going to give up his holy war against us. We had the opportunity to get him in the 90's but we didn't do it. That's too bad. We may never get him now.
@IROCwarriorAMC88 we should fine an acceptable thrid partyy of moderate muslims to help implement effective gonverment and true stablity there. We Americans will never be accepted as a trustworhty source of any influence there its just against the Muslims pride and i cant blame them
I don't think there is anything left we can do except try to help train & prepare the Afghan army for the future problems it'll have. We can't crush the rebellion like we could in a conventional warfare. This type of warfare is far beyond that. We can reach out to the people there but then you have the Taliban & their belief system is firmly rooted & has been for centuries. I think terrorism will inevitably grow over there.
I think those UAV's are very important parts of military operations. It is an intricate tool in cutting off supply routes but we also need to keep men on the ground too. A machine can't do everything a group of men can do. Question is, can we cut off the Taliban's supply routes without encroaching on another country's sovereignty, namely Pakistan? Alot of the supplies & weapons are coming from there. We've been pissing them off for awhile now but for how long?
He is the General for a reason. He has vast experience & know how. I'm sure he is somewhere right on the money for needing more troops but then again I just can't support it like I used to. We can't beat the Taliban like this & especially not with 30k more troops. Options are limited for this kind of warfare & it reminds me of the Vietnam war era. I'd rather be in the desert though vs. being the jungles, that's for sure.
is "goodwill" perhaps a better weapon than the war machine? or will, that backfire on us also like it did when bin Laden turned on us post-USSR Afghanistan?
Goodwill is only good so far as I can throw a dime. I think diplomacy is okay if you have the support of many other nations too. I also think in terms of the U.S. that since we have to retain our military strength & demeanor around the world that it's almost impossible for us to always do goodwill & not warfare at the same time. I do think the 2 should be together but having the support of other nations helps.
goodwill worked post-WWII, why not now? Was WWII a just and moral war when contrasted with the wars of the last 40 or so years? what is the root cause of these wars? religion?, energy? political strain? a world population approaching 7 billion? all the above?
I think it comes down to simply greed, power hungry men. Add to that the vast differences of people from everywhere & the migration of millions of people into the U.S. & Europe and you're bound to have problems. The U.S.A. & Europe of today is NOT the same that it was 100, 200 or 500 years ago. Everyone wants something & our leaders are not always on our sides.
Goodwill hasn't really worked out as well as it did post WW2. Why? Apathy. People are used to the way things are & nothing has really happened that will shake us out of our complacent minds. If we hear about a group of Soldiers getting killed tomorrow lets say in Florida, no one really pays attention. If we hear about an attack on the Gulf Coast & simultaneous attacks around the world with biological weapons people get crazy & start running around like dogs.
I lost several high school friends and acquaintances over there. There are memorials all over my county honoring these young men. I will never forget how terrified I was coming from a military family..... this is why I'm committed to more progressive ideas ....... I hope that you understand
I don't mind progressive ideas but I don't think we can live in a world where the U.S.A. doesn't go out to fight a war or 2. Take away our forces & we get invaded. Simple as that. I do understand, I lost alot of friends, colleagues & buddies in Iraq. I watched some die. Some guys went AWOL for fear of fighting & dying but they were cowards. Their memories are not in vain, that I know for sure. They're all remembered!
Well, I don't think that anyone will argue against a strong defense. But in the future, I believe that we have to be much more discerning about where, how and why we pick the battles. Iraq is a bloody trillion dollar blunder that could have been controlled via international political will in my opinion.
In my personal opinion from being there in person, I think we have done alot of good for the people of Iraq. To see the looks on the faces of children & women who come out of fear & not worrying about whether or not a goon of a tyrant will rape them or kill them is relieving for them. Count the number of schools & facilities we have built for them from the sweat & blood of American men I think we've done alot of good. It's nice to see those kids happier than they were before.
I know, and I see the examples of this in the documentaries here in the states ..... BUT, I don't think that it was worth a drop of American blood AND I believe that we had Saddam in a corner where he was rendered pretty harmless, and by now he may have fallen on his own sword. The good will and nation building could have come later, perhaps after his inevitable death.
Iraq was another story and was one of the few areas where I supported Bush '43
We probably didn't have to invade again but since we did it we've done alot of good & we've also rang up a heft price tag. Lot's of wasted taxpayer dollars too. However all for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing. Saddam was for sure a bad guy who killed thousands of his own people. That I detest.
and the governemnt has EVERY right to get invovled in the mangement of buisness what school did yu flunk out of? What do you think the breaking up of Standard Oil or Ma Bell was? How about the EPA or the Food and Drug Admin. It goverment doenst regulate business it ends up running amok and we have seen that and been victums to the over and over as the current banking/insurance fiascal clearly shows. Wake up pal
Bottom line: The govt. is only competent to an extent. It isn't completely useless as you pointed out about management of businesses. However, when it comes to our freedoms, choices & rights, the govt. isn't really the one to tell us how to do so. Our healthcare system is the best in the world. People from all over come here, not to the U.K. or India. Some might but the U.S. has the best set up right now. Take over of healthcare here is nothing but a blanket for what will really happen to us all
I think American's are starting to realize that Obama was a mistake. I think by 2012 the Republican's will retake the White House with a whole new fresh approach that is more experienced & more interesting than what were doing now.
um yeah... ya think? Hellooooo. Not only in 12 but 10. OMG the dems are done please see my previous comments. We couldnt as for a better gift from these baffoons and the sheep that support them. Its only a question of how many more americans will die due to the Omans indecision and weak international reputation. No one fears him they know he can be easily intimidated and manipulated. He is a lost little boy playing with men. This country will suffer a large attack due to his weakness.
You see, obama has not done anything. Really, nothing. All the things he has done were pretty insignificant in the long run.
Obama has not done anything. Nothing, zilch, nada. Admit this. Admit you are a brainwashed moron and then bother to look things up. I would also suggest you stop seeing things in black and white, and most importantly turn off the damn TV and think for yourself.
Wait im a moron and yet I have valid points that are indisputable. You just call people names cause you cant support your kieth olberman fuled views? Make a point dude like answer me this. Why is obama making up false job creation numbers? Stimulus=failure and he lies to keep it going. Why is he lying about it. Support your position! Convince me. Sticks and stones... but maybe you can show me the error of my ways. go for it! Im waiting.....
The republicans will only retake anything is they become more moderate and less stupid. Something they seem to be doing the opposite of.
Americans in general do not like extremes. The republican party is becoming a party centered around extremes. The moment they let Limbaugh and beck become there unofficial spokesman's is the moment that party died.
The best part of all this is that the libs have no place to hide. The policies they put in place are failing completely. This is a huge victory for us conservatives. Obama is weak, indecisive and in way over his puny little head. He is the best thing we could have hoped for. Wait until he completely abandons Israel and gets walked on by Russia and China. He is being laughed at by world leaders as a weakling. I love it. Obama is single handedly handing us cons our rightful power back.
Libs are stupid sheep who have no God and kill babies. We conservatives should thank them for their arrogance and idiocy being displayed daily. The state run media and its baffoons like everyone on PMSNBC are only making it better for us. Orielly and fox have huge ratings and the libs will be mortified in 10 and 12 but again they are just to STUPID to see it! I am so happy Obama is there making our path to righteousness and victory so much easier.
You are why the terrorists hate us. In fact, reading that comment made me want to strap a bomb to myself and blow it up in a shopping mall screaming "ALLAHU AKBAR". And I am not even a muslim. Your comment was that stupid, it was so stupid it made an agnostic pacifist want to join al quida. Think about that.
If you represent America, America does not deserve life. I hope to god you learn to think for yourself.
So you acknowledge then that you are misinformed and misguided. If you can tell me what Obama has done or is planning on doing that will help our country in any way I will rescind my comments. ( rescind = take back ) Also, do you really care why the terrorists hate us? I dont. We are the worlds police force and we save lives by executing our god given power. Silly of you to think they can be placated in any way. ( placated = pacified ) BTW We inherited this problem from the pervert clinton.
Wait what? I did not acknowledge anything, I just said I don't care about stupid bullshit. And I don't
I like how republicans are so easy to blame democrats even though every president since Nixon(and even some before) has had a part to play in this bullshit. I see you don't understand sarcasm as well. Seriously, partisanship is stupid, take you pointless little party squabbles and shove them up your ass. They both suck and you are an idiot for buying into it.
You dont know me so you cant characterize me as an idiot unless you make generalizations like drinking water. God will destroy Iran and any other country who persecutes the Jews. It is written as such. My question for you is what the fuck has Obama done to help this country? he is destroying it. At least made a decision. You probably watch MSNBC for all your information.
Obama has not done anything, like I said. He has not done anything positive or really all that negative. He has been in office about a year, and in hat time all he has done is throw money at our problems. Which by the way is the same strategy george bush had. I don't watch MSNBC. Usually, CNN or BBC.
Why would an all knowing all powerful being care about something as petty as humanity's arguments? God left the holy land a very long time ago. God doesn't give a fuck about borders.
GOD??? who's deity exactly?? You do realize that as they proselytize, in a similar way as christian extremists, they also say that THEIR deity will destroy American ........ religion IS the problem, and by extension, YOU are the problem. If you want to live in a theocracy I suggest that you relocate to Iran ........
I got the exact response from i thought I would. You base your arguments from emotion instead of facts. Facts are this...Obama is a weak leader incapable of making a decision and his policies will further erode our economy. However, Bush had a large part in this as well. I do agree with you that partisanship is killing us especially as of late. The bible clearly states that those who stand by Israel visa vi the Jews will be blessed. Those that dont will perish.
The bible also says that idolatry, materialism, pride, greed, ect. are all mortal sins. Now lets look at America...if god stands by a country that has an entire culture based off of those things, then god is one massive hypocrite.
I am telling the truth, I do not love obama, but really he has not done anything. He has spent a lot of money, but that is hardly unique. People demonize the man, even though really he has done virtually nothing.
Good point but! The dems and libs have removed god from our culture systematically. We conservatives want god in our culture. You are right our culture is turning into another sodom. That is because liberals dont want god. Listen, you spout off about the bible as if you have read it yet you say fuck israel? That is confusing. Please expound on that for me.
Really? Go look up prosperity theology or the beliefs of people like Jerry falwell. The dems have not done anything, those people have. They took god and turned him into a political talking point. Not only that, they use him to make money. Go look at televangelists or even better, the jesus themed amusement park(forget where it is, google)
I am not a christian, I think organized religion is a load of bull. But seriously, if this was the old testament America would be Sodom.
The Constitution CLEARLY states "One Nation Under God". That's what our founding fathers wanted. And now the libs want to take it all away...No wonder we have such a bad economy
the under god is not in the constition ya damn fool tha's in the pledge of allegiance and the under god part was added in the 50's. What the founders wnated was COMPLETE SEPERATION OF CHRUCH AND STATE> if you dont like that then getthe hell out of my country
the fachist right wing are phoney christians who want to shove their "religion" down everyones throats fuck them what about jews and muslims and agnostis and atheists they have just as much right to their belifs you right winger need to get out of America seriously
you conservitives are the most goddleess group of jackasses Ive ever know and Im 57 you make Christ and any normal adult sick to ur stomachs with your phoney asses morality Bush was a plain ass murderer period
At first i was so very upset that Obama was elected but now I am thrilled. He is so bad that we are almost assured at least 8 years of conservatism starting in 12 and even better a republican dominant/heavy house and senate. Obama is gift wrapping a victory for us every day. He only now needs to put a bow on it which he is well on his way to doing. Once we are back in power we will be able to undo some/most of the garbage he is trying to do.
Not necessarily the Gop, but conservatism. You can't pull the country as far left as this administration has, without the pendulum swinging back the other way just as hard. Carter gave us Reagan, remember? Then the country will balance out again, center right, as always before it starts swinging wildly once more.
Dan Balz and the Washington Post are not credible. Why would I express my thoughts and feelings to advocates who pose as objective observers? As H.W. would say ala Dna Carvey, "Wouldn't be prudent. Not gonna do it."
The GOP is dying...simple as that. Bring her back for another election cycle, please, so that the americans realize how worthless the party is and close it for good.
Can you imagine what educated world leaders would think of America if she were successful?? At least Michelle Bachmann has a law degree from a law school that lost its accreditation .... at least there is something on paper that says she took a few courses at a graduate level ...... Palin went to 5 colleges for a BA?? Doesn't education mean anything anymore in America?
apparently education still doesn't relate to intelligence in any way. Just look at your friends. Socialism is backwards in every way imaginable, so any person who is a proponent of it is ignorant of history a fool or brainwashed. Being intelligent counts having a social pass doesn't.
and I assume that since you are an outspoken critic of social programs that you confuse with socialism that you will be rejecting social security, law enforcement services, municipal water and sewage treatment, etc, etc, etc ....... stupid reactionary clone
I want someone in office that will protect the constitution. I've had this quote from Jefferson ringing in my head for weeks now. "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty." I WANT LIBERTY.
Republicans have two choices at this point in time, they either become more moderate and less..you know "OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST MUSLIM! ONLY THE SOUTH AND MIDWEST ARE REAL AMERICA! EVERYBODY WHO DISAGREES WITH US IS A COMMUNIST!!!!"
If they don't make that change then there party has no future. If they keep going the way they are now, then that party has no future. Political trends prove it, in 20 years the republican's will either not exist or act more centrist.
Republicans are a broken brand. They claim they want small government, they claim they want lower taxes, they claim they want more "freedom" and then they try and gain a monopoly on being a "true American."
Want a comeback? well to be honest you don't deserve it. After 8 years of saying one thing and doing another you deserve nothing less than 8 years of sitting on the sidelines crying about socialism.
I would rather have a muslim nazi socialist than another Bush-like republican in office.
unless they are strict constitutionalists, no, but if they learn that to stop spending money means everywhere, especially overseas, and they know about FIAT money, like ron paul does, then sure, but most of the people in there now need to go, on either side of the isle. we need a "vote out the incumbents" campaign...
Moderate Republicans will gain some seats in 2010, if history is correct . However, I believe the Democrats will hold on to a slim majority in both the house and senate . Even though the Republican base has been more vocal, the silent majority will be the loudest in 2010 . I don't feel Americans are ready to put the GOP back into power when the wounds are still fresh from 8 years of Bush .Just saying "no" works when your out of power .However, not so well when your in power .
You guys have your left and right mixed up. Extreme left is socialism, communism, etc. Extreme right is anarchy, and the Consitution is in the middle. Democrats are slightly to the left of the consitution and republicans are centered with it. Todays republicans AND democrats are left extremists. Why vote when both sides want a New World Government. To the left we have power to the government, and to the right is power to the people. What side are you on?
Half of Republicans actually believe Sarah Palin reads a newspaper. She doesn't.
Few Republicans grasp that a government is a social concept and that regulated capitalism and controlled anarchy is better then Right Wing Corporate socialism better known as Fascism.
Republicans have turned their back on the western liberal values our nation were founded on for the Right Wing myth of prefect pure Capitalism with mix of religious dogma.
And here's an idea. Why not report on actual news rather than vague and meaningless speculation? Go hold an industry-sponsored, off the record "salon" and leave the real journalism to the NY Times.
Wow, is this a new topic for the post? I have never read ANYTHING in your paper about "the future of the republican party." Oh wait, you write the same articles every day. The Post is basically a tabloid of politics, with all hearsay and he-said she-said reporting, there is little if any real investigative journalism left.
In terms of the future of the republican party, I am confident that they will weather this storm and get back to the hard work of destroying our country.
Republicans have been exposed as bad people. There are only two types of humans. Good ones and bad ones. There are no other types. You are either good or you are bad.
100% of racists belong to what party?
You have your answer.
Be patient as good always prevails over evil.
Republicans have chosen the wrong path of greed, death to the poor, racisim, and a whole host of evil traits.
Stay away from these unchristian corporate whores.
It's amazes me how the REPUBLICANS NAZI PARTY... is giving advice to OBAMA on how to UNSCREW the United States that THEY SCREWED OVER! Who cares what they think now they ruined this country and no one cares about their sick ideas on how to bring jobs back. Where was their ideas for the past 8 years?? Shove up your pir holes you are Anti- American and Anti- god fearing people. You are sick and need to all be voted out of office. KKK members without the sheets! VOTE'EM ALL OUT!!
The Republican Party is pretty much finished as it has been exposed by the Tea Baggers as the new Racist Party. The only thing these nuts were missing was their white sheets.
The Party is dead and exposed. They have no color and little real power left. They no longer represent the majority or any diversity. they're cooked.
They only have 1% of the 2% rich, rednecks, hillbillies, racists, and hicks, left in the party. A look at their gatherings with zero color or minorities you see the end of it!
Ok how about this. 1st we will the GOP to stop the NWO. Then tell the GOP to stop the depopulation program. Then tell the GOP to get our dollar back on track. Then well before the dollar tell the GOP to rat out Obama and what his plans are for America. THANK YOU! Only the sheeple dont know. Thank god for youtube because the media is a bunch of fucking dick bags and they should be hung just like the rest of the banking elite! Hows that? Is that good? Im helping a guy run for governor in PA,
When mainstream conservatives and Republicans stop asking "What would Reagan/Limbaugh do?" and begin to learn how to THINK ON THEIR OWN, they may someday have some semblance of credibility.
As liberal as I may be, I think it's extremely unfair to lump Reagan and Limbaugh together. Despite my disagreement with his economic theories, he was a smart man who aimed to better this country. Limbaugh is a pill-popping freak who only cares to stir up as much political controversy as he can when Democrats are in office so he is able to make enough money to pay for his drug habits when Republicans are in office and no one cares what he has to say again. (Half joking here)
Keep in mind, it's not personal (with the Gip anyway). Heck, I voted for him (once) in 80. It's more about setting the bar higher. I really think mainstream conservatives are stuck - as a result of their self-imposed mantra - "What would Reagan do?." They go there by default. Ask yourself why. The answer: Where else can they go? W? Bush41? Nixon? Hoover? (lol) And heaven forbid they look to (progressive) Teddy Roosevelt or (liberal) Lincoln.
I didn't mean to suggest it was or was not personal, just wanted to throw it out there that someone who defines themselves as a liberal could also show respect for conservatives.
It's a shame, the place that the GOP is in right now. They have quite a few people that show great promise. It's a damned shame that they get shut down by single-issue voters and politicians like Palin and Rep. Poe.
I tire of politics. Any conceivable evil can be made acceptable under its name. Greed(lobbying),Murder(unjustified wars),Lies(spin), the list is endless. And you fools eat it up. Republican comeback? What a joke, they never left. The Democrats aka "the velvet glove," they appear soft but are every bit as corrupt as the Republicans. Both parties bow at the altar of money. And to the cowards who call themselves journalists, you are also complicit in the crimes committed.
The only thing I've seen our two worthless parties agree on in the last several years is to give the Department of Treasury a no strings attached accessibility to the printing presses for the benefit of some of the least deserving institutions and individuals of all time. Maybe we build a road, desalination plant, permanent nuclear waste facility or even buy every last disco record for permanent destruction. There's a lot of better things we could be doing.
we already made a come back. just look at the last two governor elections we won IN BLUE STATES! the tree of liberty is being watered with the blood of marxists and it's only a matter of time before every american wakes up to the fact that the democrat socialist party wants to turn this country upside down.
If you really think that matters you have a lot to learn. New York is one of the most liberal places on earth, and yet it has had a republican mayor for the last 10 or so years(although bloomberg now says he is an independent)
The republicans dont represent freedom, they represent themselves and there own greedy ambitions. If you think otherwise you have no idea how our government works. The democrats are the same. The fuck over people like you for kicks, and they will do it again for cash.
The liberal medias reporting from all sides a "made up war" in the Republican Party that don't exist. That happened on 1 election, the NY23rd, and it was left at the NY23rd when Hoffman may have won, conservatives won in New Jersey & Virginia. So, the media is fabricating a war to try and really break up the party. The media will tell you they are scared of conservatives, Palin, and the Tea Partiers, and that is what they are doing by attacking all 3 every single day.
They are attacking Palin from all sides because they know that Americans are sick of slick politicians doing the same thing over and over. The new boss looks just like the old boss, and Americans are looking for a boss thats more like us, rather than more like them, and that is Palin. She isn't the most informed in the world, but she has proved her sincerety and honesty. Liberals are attacking her, that is just making women take her side, so keep doing it because the smartest guy aint doin jack!
Fuck, man...I've met kids with severe mental handicaps that are honest and sincere. That doesn't mean it's unfair to say they aren't qualified to run a country. Honesty and sincerity are definitely good to have in a politician, but they shouldn't be the ONLY prerequisites.
And no, liberals aren't attacking her. Some liberals are critiquing her, she responds to critiques by saying, "You're attacking me," and the simple minded go, "Yeah!! Stop attacking Palin!!!"
Yes, it is attack if they aren't doing the same or have not did the same to Obama and he is an incompetent and he is lazy, and she has as much experience as he does. Whether you support Obama or not, you have to agree that he is a lazy, incompetent welfare recipient.
In no way can I agree with that. The assertion is absurd, unfounded, and completely devoid of fact. Frankly, I find it hard to believe that someone could say it in seriousness, even if such a person was in complete disagreement with all of his policy suggestions.
Keep in mind who Palin is: A failed former politician who is striving to profit from the controversy she creates. Comparing how she is treated to how the POTUS is treated is just silly.
While we would again suffer ridicule and embarrassment from the rest of the world as they AGAIN observe how dumb the average American is, I would love to see her nominated by the GOP and watch the vetting process by the mainstream press. It would be the final nail in the coffin for the wacko extremists who hijacked the GOP. Hell, it's a couple of years away, and both she and her baby machine daughters could pop out a few more Trigs, kind of like Pez dispensers ....
Listen, here are the facts!!! The only way that the Republican Party can lose in 2010 & 2012 is if they listen to the media. The media & liberals are making up this battle in the Republican Party that dont exist!!! And, they are doing this under the mask that they "are just trying to help the Republicans" Yea Right!!! When has the liberal media ever tryed to help Republicans? They are also attacking Palin from all sides when she hasn't even said she is running yet! Why? because they fear her.
The Republican party has completely alienated the young, the college-educated, the non-rural, the non-white, the non-Christian, and the non-Southern. Decades of pandering to racists and religious nuts have finally caught up with the GOP, and it seems that the inmates have taken over the asylum. Purging moderates like Charlie Crist will only make matters worse for the GOP.
Barring some kind of a total catastrophe, Republicans will never win back power.
There were no jobs created and will not be created from the stimulus package and Obama now wants to try something new, The deficit has quadrupled, the CBO says the budget is unsustainable. The unemployment rate is over 10% actual 16%.
No new jobs being added and more jobs lost every month. Foreclosures at all time highs. The democrat approach failed. Next up the Rebublicans.
I blame the Democrats and Obama for the current problems.
The problems started after the 2006 elections where we had a congress that opposed everything Bush did purely for political reasons regardless of the consequences to the country.
I read my post over again and I do not see where I am solely blaming Obama. However, the items I mentioned happened this year under the Obama/Dem administration. Including Cash for clunkers.
Please get out and vote D.
ratsnacage1 1 year ago

If they want to come back, they should re-establish a track record of responsible governance on the state level because the next Republican president is going to be a former governor.
aussie56 2 years ago
2009s gains were clearly an illusion. republicans gained 2 gubernatorial offices that have no influence whatsoever on national affairs, while losing a congressional seat that they held for centuries amid internal conflict between rational conservatives and fringe radicals. the republican party has no cohesive principles save corporatism and opposition via malinformation and obstructionism. many of us conservatives are yearning for a sanity that republicans have forsaken by siding with extremists

exacly correct my friend the right wing is so far from being truely conservitive that its a joke.

ideas & liberal dangerous laws & policies that limit American's rights & choices.

TheGoldenSun0986 2 years ago

Danimalization 2 years ago
Medicare & Medicaid are both heading for depleted funds in the next few years. Mismanagement is just one of the many reasons why. Our govt. is incompetent. You really want to trust them so far as to having control over your health choices for yourself & your family? I have private insurance & my insurance is pretty good. I have no complaints about mine. If this bill were to become law taxes are going to get even higher & insurance WILL become alot more expensive. That's a fact you can't distort.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
the claim that they are out of funds has been lied about since the inception of both those funds. As far as you having your insurance good for you till you get kicked off for some reason. This govenment insurance is necessary to coverthose who areexcluded for preexisting conditions and to insure that every is covered so hospitals dont have to shut down from coveringa all the uninsured
Danimalization 2 years ago
anothething. Insurance companies claim they need about 12% to cover their overhead to run thier compnaies medicare covers their overhead with around 6% so whose more competent.?!. You need to read more my friend and try to find the turth not just things and people that confirm your beliefs
Danimalization 2 years ago
the complete lack of locgic in stating that your insurance will cost more is pure bull shit the insurance companies are afriad of the competiton thats all if anything your rates could very likely go down and you will be able to stream line your coverage better more competiton especially from something as large as a government insurance compettor will only help reduce rates my friend use your head and quite spouting hysterical right wing incompetent bull shit
Danimalization 2 years ago
You my friend opened up a can of worms & gave me the right of way to call you names since you're calling me some right wing nut. Let me ask you something, do you work in the medical/healthcare field? Are you working for the govt at a level that is dealing with this subject of healthcare reform? It really doesn't matter if you do or don't but what I can tell you is that you're wrong. Prices will go up higher, wait times will be longer & people like you will regret ever supporting left wing nuts.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
Your delusion that prices will go up is completly unfounded my friend and yes I have a brother who is a surgeon and a father who ran a hospital so yeah i kinda do know that you right wing losers are only playing to the song sung by the insurance and pharmicutical companaies who are deathly afriad of any cometition
Danimalization 2 years ago
@IROCwarriorAMC88
right-wing nut is perhaps a bit too strong, however, reactionary is a term that is more descriptive and fitting. And a reactionary will be the one most resistant to any kind of change, they always have been, and always will.
perfectbark 2 years ago
What kind of change? The hope & change offered by a fool like Obama & his people??? It's funny how a bunch of former Clinton era people work for him & he spoke of change. How is THAT change? I'm confused. I'm not confused though about the kind of change that's happening right now as we speak. This change, this hope is more like a deceptive way of controlling American's lives & forcing us into the wrong kind of change. I like change, even some adversity but not on the route were heading.

you are a narrow minded bigot who feels safer with dumb reactionary religious wackos running the country ...... get an education
perfectbark 2 years ago
Show some respect buddy. I've shown you respect. I'm a Iraq war veteran & I think you need to get some education you fool. You're calling me names on what basis? You fool, don't act arrogant on here because it makes you look silly. What is your problem anyway? Answer me.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago

I have an education, an ongoing one & it pleases me to take on idiots like yourself. I remember one like you who ended up without a tongue. You idiota.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
A chip maybe on your shoulder. The only harm I'm doing is telling you that you're acting as an imbecile. Don't preach to me about respect when you were calling me names. I haven't said things like you're a bigot to you. Who said anything about being owed anything? You're not as smart as you think you are & trying to play psychological b.s. with me isn't working. You just don't like that I don't agree with you. That's your problem bub. If you don't like what I say then don't reply to it. Simple.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago

and you're a poorly educated or uneducated individual who probably comes from an isolated background, who , like Sarah Palin, hasn't traveled much. (with the exception of the military.) And I don't care if you disagree with me. I do care about the misinformation machine and the cloning of propaganda from reactionary sources who thus far have failed in both foreign and domestic policy now for many years.
Change comes with pain, always has, always will.

We need to stop voting for imbeciles who think that the voters don't matter. I wouldn't mind having a good debate with you or anyone else but I don't like know it all's. There's always something to learn.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
The govt. doesn't have any right to get in the middle of private sectors business. A govt. run healthcare will take away our freedoms even more as far as our choices of care go, how much we pay, fines (tax is what it really is for those who don't want any insurance), longer wait times & budget deficits will be higher for years! Other consequences such as our govt. will get more balls to tell us we can't eat certain foods, drive certain cars & so forth. It's all true whether you like it or not.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
Really? Like Bush tellin ALL the school kids they HAVE to pass a certain exam put out by the government? hahah m,y friend the government has every right to secure basic human needs in a society
Danimalization 2 years ago

Danimalization 2 years ago
No one is asking for an ALL government run health care system FOOL just a way for EVERYONE to have SOMe insurance WHAT PART OF THAT CONCEPT GOES OVER YOU LIITT pin heads?
Danimalization 2 years ago
Laughing: No, you're the fool for one, trusting anything our govt wants to do & 2 for yelling at me on here. The fact of the matter is, is that in all of human history when a govt. claims to want to help out like this to do a service for the people it turns out to be the total opposite in the end. It becomes the ONLY provider of insurance or whatever the product maybe. The only guy here with a problem with that is you it seems. You're paranoia of anyone who sees it differently is amazing.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
Really? You mean like how the government provides public schools yet I attended private schools for over 12 years hahah man you are a typical misinformed bent right wing nut.. take care
Danimalization 2 years ago
You numbnut, public schools are a joke! No one I know who ever attended public schools ever thought they were efficient. 2, I didn't vote for anybody on the right side or left side. Shows what you know about my voting history. I believe America is best off without a bigger & more invasive govt. & that's the bottom line. If you can't or don't agree with that then you're the lost one. I think American's need to fight for their rights & not let the govt. & more so those who were siding with liberal
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago

Misinformation, with the C-street gang at the heart of said misinformation and innuendo ..... it hurting America
perfectbark 2 years ago
The problem isn't Glenn Beck although he sometimes comes off a tad bit too much. The problem is people not speaking up, not getting active, being complacent & stagnant. Add to that the misinformation being thrown out from both sides of the parties. Then add people like you who come out & insult others because you enjoy it. It's way easier to let the mouth & tongue flow on here than it is in person.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
Glenn Beck, like the idiots that hijacked the GOP some years ago, IS THE PROBLEM. sniff, sniff ..... I just love my country.
perfectbark 2 years ago
Kind of like the Reaganomics. Reagan promised reduced govt. spending yet by time he left office spending was way up & the deficit had continued to grow. We haven't had a good president in over 40 years.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
well, 40 years ago puts me in high school and the era of Richard Nixon .... and we all know about that guy.
Sometimes government regulation is a good thing.
perfectbark 2 years ago
and the deregulation of the FTC and FCC is why we have what? 6 corporations controlling public information and how it is delivered to the masses now?
perfectbark 2 years ago
Add to that a crap load of CZAR's appointed by Obama & not approved or vetted by Congress & you get a host of new entities that aren't beneficial to America. I ignore the teachings of false prophets but I don't forget that they're here.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
but the term "czar" is a politicized term, one give by some journalist whose name I can't remember ..... either way I thing the term czar is used pejoratively and excessively by the far right... sorry
perfectbark 2 years ago
Funny enough Reagan left office & to this day has one of the highest markings of approval ratings in terms of presidents job performance.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
you're more concerned with what you perceive as insults than you are the problems and issues. If you care about your country, pick up a newspaper of record, and turn off the reactionary idiots that are manipulating you. Like you, I went through a similar phase when I was younger. Time and events will change you, and you will find that your schema be a synthesis of the events you experienced in life.
perfectbark 2 years ago
Don't compare me to you when you were younger. Time & events have changed me only because I pay attention. 2.) I don't have cable t.v. I choose not to. It's far more interesting to read the paper, study books & not listen to a bunch of imbeciles rag on about what's not really important. I have essays & writings devoted nothing but to the issues of America. Unfortunately many don't share my enthusiasm. Why else would I come here to debate with people?
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
For example. We need to leave Iraq & Afghanistan. We've done our job over there. The only reason were there is to solidify our presence in that part of the world so no one forgets that were still the powerhouse. I'm sick & tired of the administration not pulling the men out of those war spots. We helped Iraq, we've been in Afghanistan too long. I don't believe in defeat however I don't think we can defeat the Taliban for good.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
OK..... in your opinion .... .rhetorically, will these governments collapse after our departure leading to the establishment of the Taliban or radicalized islamist government that will be a breeding ground for terrorism?
I'm thinking of the lessons learned during and post cold war era where the threat was the "spread of communism."
perfectbark 2 years ago
I certainly agree with the Iraq theatre, is there a lesson in cold war diplomacy that can be used in middle eastern politics?? again, rhetorical
perfectbark 2 years ago
We need to 1st leave. 2nd, we need to leave some sort of small force, maybe 5,000 Marines, to help reinforce that Iraq isn't a place to start a breeding ground for new terror. 3rd, we need to promote public diplomacy to help alleviate fears & try to build relationships with other nations while at the same time not putting ourselves in a defeated position. Sharing ideas & aspirations will help cultivate healthy relationships with those Middle East nations. However we need to retain a backbone.

I'm not as concerned about Iraq, it's time to leave and the President is committed to that end also. This Afghan situation has concerned me for a long time now ...... since the time we decreased troop size to commit to Iraq .... which I will always hold as a BAD idea in the first place that led to the polarization of our political parties and probably the reason you and I are ardent political opposites
perfectbark 2 years ago
Well our president has done nothing to keep his promises from his "convincing days" while he was running for president. In fact were adding to Afghanistan which I don't like. I don't doubt the General's need for more men but I don't know if it's in our best interest anymore.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
yeah ..... can we detect and deploy UAVs to areas of concern there like terrorist training camps? Do you think that Osama bin Asshole is still alive?
perfectbark 2 years ago
We have already. Do I think Mr. Osama is alive? Well, I think he is but he is probably not going to give up his holy war against us. We had the opportunity to get him in the 90's but we didn't do it. That's too bad. We may never get him now.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
@IROCwarriorAMC88 we should fine an acceptable thrid partyy of moderate muslims to help implement effective gonverment and true stablity there. We Americans will never be accepted as a trustworhty source of any influence there its just against the Muslims pride and i cant blame them
Danimalization 1 year ago
I don't think there is anything left we can do except try to help train & prepare the Afghan army for the future problems it'll have. We can't crush the rebellion like we could in a conventional warfare. This type of warfare is far beyond that. We can reach out to the people there but then you have the Taliban & their belief system is firmly rooted & has been for centuries. I think terrorism will inevitably grow over there.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
how effective are UAV's?? and if we can cut off the supply of arms to the Taliban somehow, will that be effective?
perfectbark 2 years ago
I think those UAV's are very important parts of military operations. It is an intricate tool in cutting off supply routes but we also need to keep men on the ground too. A machine can't do everything a group of men can do. Question is, can we cut off the Taliban's supply routes without encroaching on another country's sovereignty, namely Pakistan? Alot of the supplies & weapons are coming from there. We've been pissing them off for awhile now but for how long?
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
we agree here, although it's a political minefield.
perfectbark 2 years ago
and what's you're opinion of Gen. McCrystal? It looks like the President is going to give him 30K or so troops ......
perfectbark 2 years ago
He is the General for a reason. He has vast experience & know how. I'm sure he is somewhere right on the money for needing more troops but then again I just can't support it like I used to. We can't beat the Taliban like this & especially not with 30k more troops. Options are limited for this kind of warfare & it reminds me of the Vietnam war era. I'd rather be in the desert though vs. being the jungles, that's for sure.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
is "goodwill" perhaps a better weapon than the war machine? or will, that backfire on us also like it did when bin Laden turned on us post-USSR Afghanistan?
perfectbark 2 years ago
Goodwill is only good so far as I can throw a dime. I think diplomacy is okay if you have the support of many other nations too. I also think in terms of the U.S. that since we have to retain our military strength & demeanor around the world that it's almost impossible for us to always do goodwill & not warfare at the same time. I do think the 2 should be together but having the support of other nations helps.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
goodwill worked post-WWII, why not now? Was WWII a just and moral war when contrasted with the wars of the last 40 or so years? what is the root cause of these wars? religion?, energy? political strain? a world population approaching 7 billion? all the above?
perfectbark 2 years ago
I think it comes down to simply greed, power hungry men. Add to that the vast differences of people from everywhere & the migration of millions of people into the U.S. & Europe and you're bound to have problems. The U.S.A. & Europe of today is NOT the same that it was 100, 200 or 500 years ago. Everyone wants something & our leaders are not always on our sides.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
Goodwill hasn't really worked out as well as it did post WW2. Why? Apathy. People are used to the way things are & nothing has really happened that will shake us out of our complacent minds. If we hear about a group of Soldiers getting killed tomorrow lets say in Florida, no one really pays attention. If we hear about an attack on the Gulf Coast & simultaneous attacks around the world with biological weapons people get crazy & start running around like dogs.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
I lost several high school friends and acquaintances over there. There are memorials all over my county honoring these young men. I will never forget how terrified I was coming from a military family..... this is why I'm committed to more progressive ideas ....... I hope that you understand
perfectbark 2 years ago
I don't mind progressive ideas but I don't think we can live in a world where the U.S.A. doesn't go out to fight a war or 2. Take away our forces & we get invaded. Simple as that. I do understand, I lost alot of friends, colleagues & buddies in Iraq. I watched some die. Some guys went AWOL for fear of fighting & dying but they were cowards. Their memories are not in vain, that I know for sure. They're all remembered!
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
Well, I don't think that anyone will argue against a strong defense. But in the future, I believe that we have to be much more discerning about where, how and why we pick the battles. Iraq is a bloody trillion dollar blunder that could have been controlled via international political will in my opinion.
perfectbark 2 years ago
In my personal opinion from being there in person, I think we have done alot of good for the people of Iraq. To see the looks on the faces of children & women who come out of fear & not worrying about whether or not a goon of a tyrant will rape them or kill them is relieving for them. Count the number of schools & facilities we have built for them from the sweat & blood of American men I think we've done alot of good. It's nice to see those kids happier than they were before.
IROCwarriorAMC88 2 years ago
I know, and I see the examples of this in the documentaries here in the states ..... BUT, I don't think that it was worth a drop of American blood AND I believe that we had Saddam in a corner where he was rendered pretty harmless, and by now he may have fallen on his own sword. The good will and nation building could have come later, perhaps after his inevitable death.
Iraq was another story and was one of the few areas where I supported Bush '43

However all for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing. Saddam was for sure a bad guy who killed thousands of his own people. That I detest.

Bottom line: The govt. is only competent to an extent. It isn't completely useless as you pointed out about management of businesses. People from all over come here, not to the U.K. or India. Some might but the U.S. has the best set up right now. Take over of healthcare here is nothing but a blanket for what will really happen to us all

So you acknowledge then that you are misinformed and misguided. If you can tell me what Obama has done or is planning on doing that will help our country in any way I will rescind my comments.

You are an idiot.
ogloosh 2 years ago
You dont know me so you cant characterize me as an idiot unless you make generalizations like drinking water. God will destroy Iran and any other country who persecutes the Jews. It is written as such. My question for you is what the fuck has Obama done to help this country? he is destroying it. At least made a decision. You probably watch MSNBC for all your information.
andronimo 2 years ago
Obama has not done anything, like I said. He has not done anything positive or really all that negative. He has been in office about a year, and in hat time all he has done is throw money at our problems. Which by the way is the same strategy george bush had. I don't watch MSNBC. Usually, CNN or BBC.
Why would an all knowing all powerful being care about something as petty as humanity's arguments? God left the holy land a very long time ago. God doesn't give a fuck about borders.

God didnt give us any power, god probably hates this country. I mean, read the bible and then look at our culture. You will see what I mean.
We saved lives by starting a civil war?
ogloosh 2 years ago
I got the exact response from i thought I would. You base your arguments from emotion instead of facts. Facts are this...Obama is a weak leader incapable of making a decision and his policies will further erode our economy. However, Bush had a large part in this as well. I do agree with you that partisanship is killing us especially as of late. The bible clearly states that those who stand by Israel visa vi the Jews will be blessed. Those that dont will perish.
andronimo 2 years ago
Fuck isreal. Seriously.
People demonize the man, even though really he has done virtually nothing.
ogloosh 2 years ago
Good point but! The dems and libs have removed god from our culture systematically. We conservatives want god in our culture. You are right our culture is turning into another sodom. That is because liberals dont want god. Listen, you spout off about the bible as if you have read it yet you say fuck israel? That is confusing. Please expound on that for me.
andronimo 2 years ago

Not necessarily the Gop, but conservatism. You can't pull the country as far left as this administration has, without the pendulum swinging back the other way just as hard.

When mainstream conservatives and Republicans stop asking "What would Reagan/Limbaugh do?" and begin to learn how to THINK ON THEIR OWN, they may someday have some semblance of credibility.
I'm NOT holding my breath.

(Half joking here)
ichalz 2 years ago
Keep in mind, it's not personal (with the Gip anyway). Heck, I voted for him (once) in 80. It's more about setting the bar higher. I really think mainstream conservatives are stuck - as a result of their self-imposed mantra - "What would Reagan do?." They go there by default. Ask yourself why. The answer: Where else can they go? W? Bush41? Nixon? Hoover? (lol) And heaven forbid they look to (progressive) Teddy Roosevelt or (liberal) Lincoln.
RonPaulGeorgeRingo 2 years ago
I didn't mean to suggest it was or was not personal, just wanted to throw it out there that someone who defines themselves as a liberal could also show respect for conservatives.

Will the GOP ever make a comeback?
No.

"Barring some kind of a total catastrophe."
Have you seen our economic indicators?
There were no jobs created and will not be created from the stimulus package and Obama now wants to try something new, The deficit has quadrupled, the CBO says the budget is unsustainable. The unemployment rate is over 10% actual 16%.
No new jobs being added and more jobs lost every month. Foreclosures at all time highs. The democrat approach failed. Next up the Rebublicans.

Obama is acting the same as bush. Really, all of the controversy about obama is purely partisan. It has nothing to do with actual results or ideals.
Obama has been in office a year, our economic problems go back way before that. Blaming solely obama is just stupid.
