  • This is crap... People's sense for quality is decreasing...

  • he's better at piano than drums. Akira jimbo owns him any day.

  • I get the idea of creating a chaos scene but I wish he wouldn't over dramatize the drum solos he does.

  • I like his drum set~~transparent~~!!rare one!:3 yoshiki-san :3

  • are u tired?

  • Sounded like a roller coaster when I was high lol

  • sort of tired of butthurt people coming here to bash this epic drummer

  • He's not as good as John Bonham, he's not as good as Carl Palmer.

    But who cares?

    I fxxking love this guy.

    Yoshiki forever!

  • RESPECT

  • Anyone noticed that there's Rachmaninov in the background? Thats my favourite piano concerto!

  • i love yoshiki

  • ok now im arouse... is it just me?

  • Yes it isn't his best drumming but the atmosphere created from the chaotic drums and the calm strings; must of been great to watch.

  • I think he's not good at drum solo but he's the best drummer !!!!

forget about this video and listen to X Japan songs :)

  • 106 losers = shit

  • this is the most bullshit drum solo ever... not sure what he was up when it was during the violins.... lying on his drums... must of had a scorcher of a headache or some shit

  • noise......only.

  • かっこいい…

    もう最高!

  • where does he take that energy from?? Yoshiki is in my opinion a great musician, I fell in love with X Japan's music at first hearing (the first song I heard was "Say Anything") Then, every member of this band is special, even Taiji and Hide who passed away. I still love them like I did 6 years ago, when I started to listen to their music. Thank you, X JAPAN!

  • Best Drummer in the universe! Best Band in the universe!

    RIP Taji, RIP Hide

    We are X!

  • /watch?v=qyicIuhSkp4 someone knows the name of that classical piece? ;_;

  • People, We all now it says "drum solo" in the title, but if you have minded to investigate a little before reclaiming that he is shit and I don't know what other crap, you would have found that Yoshiki's Solo was not meant to be a rhythm one or a melodious one, what he wanted was to make a scene, a chaos one, based on drama and hate, all inside an atmosphere of chaotic classical music, it's mre like a "drum act" if you will, but seriously guys!, all drum solos aren't suppoused to be the same!!!

  • good drummer. but not a good soloist

  • noob

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of Stan Lee & McFarlane

  • Yoshiki is amazing *although this word hardly can describe him*, because he rises playing the drums to the next level and makes real Art out of it.

  • When was this concert?

  • there's rachmaninoff concerto no.1 in the background at around 3:09

  • mhhhhh ..its dramatic ^^

  • Haven't seen enough to rate him as the greatest by far but then again if I went super fast an everything blurred together, how could you tell the difference :)

  • closer to believing...

  • I come here because i watched a clip of no minwoo plays drum this night, they are so alike and i miss yoshiki so much.

  • ต้องเจอกับพี่ชัชหน่อย

  • สวดยอด

  • @NKL77 : we shoudn't compare drummers only by their technical skills.

As you can see and hear in this video, this solo is not only about technique, but art.

(The music behind is composed by Yoshiki himself). Musically I think nothing can be compare to X Japan.

  • Quien fuera bateria ;_; yoshiki marry me xDDDDDDD

  • ว๊าว. เยี่ยม

  • Compare to Other Drummers This is too plain

But the Power..... He is Demi-God

  • この時のドラムソロが一番凄い!!

    パワーと気迫がハンパない!!

  • i could feel the pain on his thighs.... just awesome watchin the last live even though this nt my first

  • excellent, i listen to his show on sirius radio sunday nites on "the boneyard".

  • How much have to love music to do a thing like that? How many and what kind of feelings are into him?...Those were the things I was thinking while I was watching and listening this video

  • the best drum solo !

  • Great solo but I wish the editing room would give us longer shots. Why is it the the cameramen make it about their quick edits? Let's see the footage and not all cut up. It's not a place to show off your editing skills, let's see the main act.

  • Yeah......I just had dinner with Yoshiki at ACEN in ROSEMONT ILLINOIS BE JEALOUS

  • @animaiden11 I TOUCHED HIM

  • @UhMysteryGuest I hugged him, took pictures and had a wonderful evening sipping wine and having a nice steak. He is so sweet.

  • Love the water blown from the low tom as he sweats XD \m/

  • Mark portnoy!!!

  • All who dare to doubt about his abilities, pffff you're so lame. Shut the fucking mouth, and read carefully, YOU WILL NEVER BE CAPABLE TO PLAY THE DRUMS IN THIS WAY :) So, die of envy and just watch c:

  • 真矢もまわるヨシキもまわる

  • 音樂,噪音一線之差`

    呢D就係噪音

  • @d19941107 你yoshiki的这种敲鼓方式,全亚洲都无人匹敌 不懂尊重,不会欣赏,就不要乱讲

  • @d19941107 yoshiki的这种敲鼓方式,全亚洲都无人匹敌 不懂尊重,不会欣赏,就不要乱讲

  • Hey,hey...Its not easy to playing drum while your neck in hurt.....

  • God, I love Yoshiki...

  • @Mavsebavse Ok you will NEVER master Yoshiki's drumming style! and if you think you so freaking good try covering and X JAPAN song and them tell me he sucks have more respect

  • This is what people voted as the best drummer??

Theatrically, he is probably at least among the top 5, but he's far from being the top drummer. Probably as overrated as the Rev when it comes to drumming.

Don't get me wrong, he is quite talented, but there is a difference between the quantity of talents and the quality of a specific talent.

  • @GuEtarVigilantEbuny I agree. I love the Rev, and he is definitely a role model for me, but I do agree that fans of bands tend to exaggerate how good the members are. I mean I do it too to an extent, but overall. Yea. He's got talent, but I dont really think hes "The Best" by any stretch of the means.

  • Man, are girls into metal in Japan? From this, it sounds like they are! Cus in the US, they sure ain't.

  • ^__ __ __^

  • Neil Pert sucks!! XD

  • so fucking crazy

  • how can I get the symphony background song???? .........so beautiful

  • @sacitarios I think you're talking about Say Anything. You can get the instrumental version of this song in yoshiki's classical album Eternal Melody.

  • I can settle all disputes right now:

    1. The music is great, if you don't like it, fuck off.

    2. Don't compare Yoshiki to Neil Peart, John Bonham, etc. They're all different styles of drumming.

    3. Go to a show and analyze this when you're in a crowded amphitheater. There's so much adrenaline, you won't know which way is up.

Calm down fanboys, and enjoy it for what it is.

  • Well, this is 9 minutes of my life that I will never get back. I'm sure the guy is good, but this was way boring and it was at best, very basic drumming. I mean, the rising and spinning drum riser was cool. This is the first video of Youshiki I have ever watched. I will watch some more of his stuff now. It can only get better. Right?

  • He once fell off the stage during a rehearsal (that's why he needs that collar). But the injury doesn't ruin his performance. Nothing can stop this guy from being superb. Yoshiki is so strong...mentally and physically.

  • @matchatiramisu actually i thought his neck brace was due to excessive head banging during his drum playing and he has other bodily injuries from his playing as well...

  • Im reading all these comments about skill and shit and how Neil Pert is awesome or its all double bass and theres too much symphonic interludesWHO GIVES A FLYING SHIT!! Bet you my left earlobe that when you go to a X Japan concert its not somethnig you analyze its an EXPERIENCE. You not gonna sit there in the middle of a mezmerized crowd and say 'boooooo Yoshiki hes only playing singles and his bass is off rhythm."

Oh and the obvious rule: If you dont like it DONT FUCKIN WATCH IT.

  • @fluxmuldar

I actually kind of have to agree.

This was a really boring "drum solo". He wasn't even drumming for half of it

  • @Thrashzzz +1

  • he look like a giggolodrummer

  • so, what's the point? wake me up when it's over....

  • I came here hoping to hear great drums - meg white could do better than this. I guess he's very popular and has a lot of ability, but his drumming is simplistic and easily reproduced by many drummers without effort. the music however is very nice.

  • Yoshiki is the only person that I'll listen to when it comes to drums. I like the drums, but to me it's nothing special by any means. X Japan puts on a DAMN GOOD show and Yoshiki knows how to put on a show, so before all of you drum fan boys start spewing all this drumming jargon...it's just the damn drums. It all depends on who can play it the longest while still making it sound good and that's definitely Yoshiki.

  • my favorite T_T such great concert, great band, he is great... all of them T_T

  • carl palmer

  • Great.. Epic.. Awesome.. uhh.,... EPIC

  • Great Stamina

but Yoshiki is one of most overrate drummers

  • 88 idiots who lost their time watching the video.

And some losers who have commented against Yoshiki

  • incredibly boring, the man knows nothing but semiquavers...

stick to piano from now on please, at least i can respect you on that instrument

  • let him have his moment....

  • I slept.

  • hes not doing any thing o there eh goes

if he plays by emotion he must be mad!

  • hes not doing any thing o there eh goes

  • i love how he drum coz it's not just a showing-off-my-skill drumming it's HIS drumming of what's he's feeling and really am impress by his stamina in all his concert,he really have great stamina, coz it's a total different on stage playing than at home playing, on stage u'll get so high u'll feel ur brain goes numb and sometimes u black out, i was the guitarist,i already gone brain dead when it near 2hr on last concert and he was on fucking 6hr with his condition! it fucking not easy as it seen!

  • to many 16th notes, lol :p

  • Live on X-Japan we will always love you.

(People need to learn what good. Shut up Haters!!!)

  • yoshiki is a virtuoz for drums....

  • Its funny to see how ppl criticize some one with great success. Yoshiki is one of the greatest drummers to me and his style of playing is great. Go look at his concerts from the early days of X japan its still the same.

  • @TriniBoyz I really, really really don't get it.

It seems like his drumming was really really random. It didn't follow with the music, and drums alone don't really sound good, though great instruments.

Could someone clue me into what is so great about this?

  • How did Yoshiki get through the venue door with that ego in tote?

  • He's not too terribly technical, but he plays with A LOT of emotion. And THAT is what makes him a great drummer. His sound comes from deep within.

  • is this the last concert of x-japan?

  • @jellyfishkann No this isn't the last live. and they just had a whole bunch of concerts in North America this month.

  • @jellyfishkann at the time it was the last concert they were breaking up at the time they also didnt know it was there last live with Hide but i think they reunited now with Sugizo from Luna Sea on guitar

  • he may not be the best but he play with passion from his heart. That I can bet on it.

  • Yeah, I don't think he's the best. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating, he is very good and all but it's clearly not the best solo I've seen. The best japanese drummer without a doubt for me Jun'ichi Satou from Galneryus.

This man is great but it takes him like 3 months to funally get himself to play a beat after tons of suffering and it's not even that incredible...

  • esti de chinois

  • @pearldrum650 il est japonais, espèce de sous-merde !

  • when you muster up several thousand die hard fans for a 6 hr long concert

where you run between the piano and the drums and master two more instruments

and your stamina becomes super human, dear hater

thats when you may start bashing

but until then youre a pathetic 16 yr old who only knows Neil Pert as the god of drums

yes neil pert is a sex beast when it comes to drumming but that doesnt make him jesus christ

go learn some stuff about yoshiki n the history of x-japan. u dont know what epic is

  • @ispeakasianese Couldn't have said it better.

  • @ispeakasianese im sixteen and i hate it when kids i go to schoool with think neil travis barker and john bonham are the greatest drummers because theyve heard there names do to an increased infatuation with guitar hero rockband etc. they become narrowminded to drummers like yoshiki.

  • @ispeakasianese i know what epic is..........All that Remains is epic

  • @ispeakasianese Neil perts a tool

  • @ispeakasianese Your right about Neil Pert. BUT! Tell me this. Did yoshiki hold a 12 minute drum solo after having 6 heart attacks in his life at 65? Nope Buddy Rich did. (:

  • @Kanobin1 lol Yoshiki is only 46 xD we'll see when he reaches 65 xD

  • @ispeakasianese peart* just saying ...

  • @ispeakasianese Neil doesn't have the skill to hold Yoshiki's nuts. Who the hell was in here ripping on Yoshiki the dude plays piano and if im not mistaken guitar as well....he's not a one dimensional performer!

  • @ispeakasianese Let us not hate on the gods of music, but only on those who would try to tarnish their greatness.

Put your hands up for one of the best drummers to have ever graced the Earth! \(0o0)/

  • Yoshiki is a great drummer. He is not however great in the same way that Neil Pert or Mike Portnoy are great. What he may lack in overall technical ability that other great drummers have he makes up for in unrivaled stamina. That is how he is able to play two and half, three hour shows where he plays straightforward, fast drumming without losing the beat and still has the energy to across the stage to play the piano multiple times.

  • Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings? Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.2? Yoshiki just got that much cooler for me.

  • Travis barker vs Yoshiki? hmmmm

  • @xLiiMEPiiEx YOSHIKI!!!!!

  • lmao! are you kidding me? this guy aint got shit on neil peart. let alone all the other great drummers out there. he does a steady bass beat the WHOLE time. definately NOT the best drummer of all time. and besides that, his stage presence is goofy as shit.

  • @strawberrycrush93

i would like to you play like that. and i tell you what he aint a drummer. he is aslo a composer he write all the music and lyrics for x japan. he is also a piano, guitar, bass, player. unlike other drummer, he doesnt play only one or two intrument.

  • @SR20DET2JZ honestly i probably could play this crap

  • when & where was this performance ?? I assume this is not recent live in Yokohama...

  • @kuanyuehshen It was all the way back in 1997 in Tokyo Dome.

  • He is one of my favourite drummers out there but best in the music business

  • i wish the camera wouldnt move so much so i could acctually see what hes doing

  • Nice drumriser and pyro...

  • Niiiiiice drum riser...

  • The fact that there are naysayers who went out of their way to comment on this video, that has nothing to do with declaring who is "best", says a lot about Yoshiki's amazing talent. I'm not saying he is or isn't the best, but think about it. He's so good that he makes fanboys of other drummers show up on this youtube video to hate because they feel threatened.

  • Drenched panties in 3...2...1

  • I'm not a drummer critic and won't get into who's the best. There are a lot of great musicians and it's not like a sport where there is a score being kept. With that said...I've been to over 1500 concerts and been into Rock and Metal for many years (from all over the world) and this is THIS IS THE BEST DRUM SOLO I HAVE EVER SEEN. Sound, visual, and emotionally.

  • Well, good that here's another video of this solo b'cuz the other one was deleted how it seems... *thumbs up*

  • hes good but not the best but still hes pretty sick

  • this is crap.

  • 戦闘力8億

  • ALL THTIS IDIOTS DONT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT DRUMMERS, JOEY IS GOOD BUT YOSHIKI DANCE IF WE MAKE A COMPARITION I WILL EXPLAIN ME 1.- Yoshiki have Inicial development of ARTRITIS nd 2.- For too many times he was having problem with his nake and with all than in his body He Plays like we can see here I just want to see to Yoshi Plays the Drums in 100% without any class of fisical problems the artritis can be blocked or paralise with a correct therapy and his neck problem can be repair in various ways.

  • he beats everything, but he has no sense of rythm...at least he is not showing something with soul, something that is reliable as a good drum solo...it is just showbiz. Sure he is good...but here he is showing exactly the opposite.

  • Joey from Slipknot, The Rev from A7X, Samus from Abigail Williams, all better than this bullshit. This is not impressive at all.

  • @XXXSpartan118XXX The rev is dead, not that great of a drummer. And don't give me that bullshit about "oh you're cruel blah blah blah", he chose drugs over music and he's a fucking idiot for it.

A7X is a shitty commercial rock band anyways.

Yoshiki may not play as well as drummers like Portnoy, but he has the same, if not more, passion in his playing. You can see every muscle in his body dedicated to every hit.

  • @XXXSpartan118XXX A7X is not metal, but neither is X Japan, its Visual Kai. And The Rev really wasn't that good, or ever influential. Yoshiki is right up there with Tomas Haake, Mike Portnoy, George Kolias, and Inferno. If you don't know those names, you shouldn't be posting things about drummers.

  • @tmarkeymark Actualy X Japan isnt a visual kei. THey were a Heavy Metal band that was one of the bands that started The Visual Kei style. They are still Heavy Metal Though and true heavy metal for that when you listen to albums LIke Jealousy. But I agree with you. In my oppinion Yoshiki is one of the greatest musicians in the world credited for the fact of his skills on the drums are unmatched in his own style and on the piano is even better. He is a god among musicians for the beauty he shows.

  • @XXXSpartan118XXX I can bet you that those that you just mentioned cannot even come close to the amazing compositions Yoshiki can do. Yoshiki is an amazing pianist as well and he plays with nothing but emotion. I think it is quite impressive. Sure there are better drummers out there in basic playing but not when it comes to emotion and playing as well as composition.

  • He is in the "Global Metal DVD"

  • Definately up there with Mike Portnoy. YOSHIKI IS A BEAAAAAST!!!!! ANYONE ThAT SAYS DIFFERENT COULD GO BACK TO THEYRE HANNAH MONTANA/ FRAIL ASS/ TRAVIS BARKER BULLSHIT!!!

  • is that sweat or water splashing all over the place

  • @kkuwa13 Sweat and semen.

Yeah, he sometimes sweats out his own seed because he's that badass.

  • hes pretty good but dave lombardo from slayer is better

  • @beaverfeaver12 thats a laugh i guess thats y hes so know right?

  • yeah Neil Peart is better

  • is better than lars ulrich form metallica

  • lol this man genius? at least in this video doesnt do anything special or hard,

just ordinary double bass drum. He is more like an alice cooper in drums

  • I think we've found The Drumming God.

  • crap

  • @TwoLeggedBeast09 faggot

  • My point still stands, as people see him as the best drummer.

  • There's no best drummer of all time so shut up fuckin fanboys

  • Quite famous? They practically own Japan.

  • @Kreits50 hell.. Thats why they all live in LA now. Since they are so well known in japan If they were seen in Japan they would be jumped By half the population in Japan because they are so god damn famous there.

  • @Kreits50 not quite famous. its been proven that his the best drummer in the world!!!!

  • As a matter of fact... he IS the best drummer in the world according to the Top 10. And I really don't get what's with people who can't keep their negative comments to themselves. =/

  • @akakeimei you might wanna check that list again... they put the drummer of 30 sec. to mars on top now... screw them, those people don't know art...

  • This solo is just too awesome for stupid people. Let them be.

  • HAHA this is funny (and very boring by the way)

  • his music is more creative and better than every other music out there, Rap uses fake beats, Metal just uses more notes bundeled up, at least you can uderstand and know every little thing that's going on in this music, plus during this time J-rock was the most famous in japan and still is, so id like to see you little young shits, try and be born with talent, yeah that's what i thought none of you have the talent like this guy, so suck it, go die...

  • Comment removed

  • @skullkid9830 I 100% LOATHE your opinion with a passion, since in my opinion, this drum solo doesn't sound original, it sounds too "expected", nothing surprising or new here, but I WILL give him credit for the most dramatic and emotional concert I have ever seen, just to show that i have no hard feelings.

  • @shadzzz441791 but after he played this solo, everyone was like oooo that's cool i want to learn it, so then pretty much every drummer can do this.

  • @skullkid9830 uh... your point?

  • @shadzzz441791 you do realize this was done over 25 year ago? If anything people copied this band.

  • Comment removed

  • @skullkid9830 ... "J-rock was the most famous in japan and still is..." I'm sorry, I don't listen to "mainstream" or "what's hot" music, I only listen to art.

  • no technique solo is unoriginal hell i have only been playing 2 years and could out drum this guy chinks no nothing of playing metal

  • fuck, whats up whith the changing of camera view every sec, making me dizzY

  • I can't imagine the stamina to play like him
