@gunwebsite u got balls firing and Ak out of hand with a potential bad head spacing. people gunsmiths go to learn this stuff for a reason, its very dangerous. My first build I made sure my smith held my hand, I didn't want to be one of those dummies that use modified bolt cutters to set the rivits, you just can't beat a press with the right fixtures.
unlike most countries our founding father enabled us to have rights to bare arms and form militia to protect us from a government gone bad not only protection.
@Pawnbroker00 Trust us, we know. We see it all around the world and how people over here want them gone. Luckliy, most people here have half a working brain and can form an educated opinion on firearms. Plus, our government represents the people on that issue.
Get rid of that US pistol grip and replace it with a REAL Yugo one...much better because US grips feel cheap. Just change a floor plate and you're good to go with 922r.
I have a question. I went today in my local gun shop, and they have a "M&M llc" based on a romanian kit, quadrail, tapco trigger/muzzle brake, side folding stock .... I have never heard of M&M before today (other than M&Ms...) Any good/bad I should know?
@formatC2 Google them, if nothing comes up then it's a boilerroom operation or being hacked together in mommies basement...
Everything I've read tells me that Romanian kits are all used parts picked from bins, Good luck getting a rifle with anything close to decent headspace.
If you buy one, spend the money on a rifle with matching numbers on the bolt, carrier, Trunion.
Lastly make certain that the sights and gasblock are in a Perfectly straight line. 99% I've looked at are crooked.
dude keep reading. I've personally inspected many dozens of Romy G kits and they all were matching numbers and go together very well if you know what you are doing.
Many of the first yugo receivers from Vulcan/Hesse had the bolt rails too low and the bolt would sometimes hang up on the trunnion. Some people wondered if they hardened the ejector appropriately, but I haven't seen that personally. Nodak Spud is a much better receiver. I would have someone rebuild this kit on a better receiver with better rivets, also a CLUE!
good points.. there is no way to know when this one was made (perhaps pre-nodak) but this receiver does seem pretty nice compared to what I expected from hearing all the bad things about them
Soooo.... How much do you want for it? The one rivet on the bottom of the front trunnion isn't ground off, it is a through rivet (yugos, unlike most standard aks have a through rivet on the front trunnion) and too short. The ak-builder rivet kit have much better rivets and turn out much nicer.
@GunWebsites yep. There are the ak-builder rivet sets and then there are the bad ones. There aren't specific rivets for each model of ak per se, some places sell sets that contain the right amount of each rivet for a particular build (under folder rivet set, sidefolder rivet set, ect.)
@madmailman77 also if whoever demilled this parts kit drilled too big a hole to remove the old rivet the new rivet won't set right because it won't have enough material to fill the hole in the trunnion. This can be fixed.
@madmailman77 This would be a great gun, rebuilt with some skiill on a decent reciever. I bought some yugo fixed stock kits when they were first imported for $87 a piece. Then I coud see putting a scrapyard build like this together, but now that they are selling Yugo underfolders for $700 (YIKES!) this gun warrants the investment of a decent build by someone with experiance.
i found your video interesting and helpful, maybe in the future i will be able to share this knowledge for the benefit of myself or a friend.poor sap buying a cheap rushed gun..Thanks again! :)
Thanks for the video. I have a Yugo M70AB2 as well, but is built almost completely different than the one you showed. I got mine through CIA and must say that its of IMO very high build quality.
So is the stock supposed to go underneath, I'm not going to argue much, but it looks as though the end piece goes around the handguard(or something similar)
Well, definitely not going to buy a Yugo, looks like a piece of shit, just like the car. Thanks for the video though, now I definitely know I'm going to just buy an Arsenal AK.
@GunWebsites hahaha i love my Bulgarian AK-74 i got from Atlantic firearms it was made by Interarms chrome lined every thing except the bolt and bolt carrier assembly even the muzzle brake every thing nice new parkerized finish mine was mid priced 549.00 plus tax and shipping. was that a century build or TNG?
I am in the process of building my first AK (still prepping the kit and gathering up tools) this is a great video for me when I build mine. Thank you.
Are AK build parties popular in AZ? They are in CA which is nice. You'll have good people watching over. That said, I'm lazy and am buying an Interarms or Waffen Werks :)
Thanks for the interesting video! I'll definitely keep some of these things in mind if I decide to build an AK (though I don't have a shop press, so I imagine that would make things a lot harder). Cool vid
Ive heard that there are some issues with the yugos as a result of them having been used in, well, pick your war through the 90's. and some issues with non chome lined barrells
maybe they "eyeballed it" like on that episode of sons of guns what they did to that "1k yard ak"... that runs about 3 thousand bucks or up... yep I wanna spend that kinda coin on something where the builder says "eyeball it" when it comes to head spacing.

I do too, and the best part is that is honest wear and tear. These parts kits often come from rifles used in combat, or carried for years by troops

dumb question why are all these ak's imported and converted? why not just build them in the states?

to make decent parts, takes an investment in tools, space and money to build and of course skilled people to do the work..
I assume no one thinks the market is there to start up such an operation
