@econoroller they have a better taper then Ernie Ball price about 65.00 to 100.00 for a pot pedal Photo are more but will alter the tone on your guitar what or make Steel do you have> mines BMI 3X5 e9th Nashville tuning you can some Hawwaii sounds by lowering your d knee lever would be on your left at least thats where mine is what level are semi pro or Pro level I am at amte
@reverbie65 Mines a regular pot (non-photo) I use it to go between two amps with different effects banks and amp settings on each side. It's really good for taming my Mu-TronIII and seamless shifts between effects/amps. I don't play pedal, (yet!) but I play an old '51 Sherwood Deluxe lap steel, and I absolutely LOVE IT! I was friends with Red Rhodes...that's the closest I got to playing Pedal steel, though!
Very good, only I was taught the volume pedal is never for covering mistakes. That should only be done by the right hand through blocking. Im not knocking you though. Maybe it's a matter of opinion.
@JugglingUnicycler your are right if volume pedal is not used corectly it will tell on you and all the technique wont mean a thing untill you master it reverbie65
@JugglingUnicycler a very good tecnique with right hand the pedal doesnt creat sustain it job is to creat mood left hand for bar control is what gives you the life in your playing also you put the bar over the fret but it might be in tune it might not so by going back and for with bar you give it a nice tone the frets lie thats why you use it
if you play by yourslf it might be ok but try playing without the effect pretty boring
@Emceetem You might want to look into a lap steel for that. Mainly the only difference is there's no pedals and only six strings, but they have a better tone for heavy distortion. Amazon will sell those for around $100.00
@amateurbassplayer give it a try but if you get one dont play heavy metal the instrument is polytonal in nature and it has limitless possibilities it can play any type of music not held back in any category Reverbie65

Ernie ball volume pedal.....the best.
They also make a volume/pan pedal so you can seamlessly shift from one amplifier to the other (or from one stompbox to another)
