this is the South Africa i know - we sing together, we dance together, we celebrate together but we also cry together - one big family!! Would have like to hear a bit more of our languages though, even just a word or verse of each - we do have 11 of them and i understand that would make the song very long but it such a nice song you don't want it to end anyway!!
this is an amazing song - heard it many years ago on the radio and instantly fell in love with johnny clegg's music - this video is awesome - great stuff - brings great memories of that awesome country
I am also an American who had the pleasure of spending some formative years in SA back in 1990-1991. I keep up with the situation down there. God, Africa needs more of this. I posted this on FB as a response to that damn "Shoot the Boer" song that was just banned. I know the whole "Live Aide" thing is a little cliche at this point, but this is WELL DONE! More of this kind of unity please. And what a lovely gesture including Afrikaans singers singing a verse in their own language.
wouls someone be so kind as to name the artists we see in the video??? For those of us for are not South African but love the music of your country...
This song always reminds me off Jock of the Bushveld ... I cried like a baby when I saw this movie. This song is awesome. It makes me proud to be South African.
I am proud to be Johnny's nephew, and I've been slowly uploading his entire discography to YouTube, including his rarest album, New World Survivor, which had a limited edition of 2000 autographed copies. Please support him by sharing my videos
@mklynnmiller This was supposed to be released on a CD accompanied by tracks from all the artists on the song and the proceeds going to the Starfish Foundation but somewhere along the line the project lost it's way. Sad really...
I'm searching for the SPIRIT OF THE GREAT HEART..... I see it every now & then. I find it in the most unusual places.... Like at Waffle House and at the Lake. Its rarely where U think it is... like at Church. I wonder why.... and actually know why. These are the last days, my friends.
@terminizer0 her name is Karen Zoid!!! I tought she sang awesome too...you can see names of many of those in the video in NGIYADELA's youtube account :-)
Heart felt video, but hate in South Africa is kept by POLITICians, mother's and father's.... small minded and ignorant. I love my naaste.... but my naaste don't know love... it seems. But in 40 years with hate, I will still love you Brother and Sister of Africa... till I lay my head down... Only GOD will know my hart and my hart is for my belove Janett, Thank You, You showed me that love is greater than hate.
Oh my word what a great video! If you like this you should listen to Shout ft South African artists against women abuse. Where is fresh and euphonik? Damn what happens if a creature opens its mouth before the starfish hits the water and eats it. Big ups to everyone in the video, Danny K, Loyiso, Pro Kid, Karen Zoid etc
see this music video shows all south Africans there is hope if we just put our differences one side and stand together.... so come on S.A lets stand together and show the world how it goes to live as one and be a powerful nation like we are...... viva mnzanzi viva
You have so much love that the ordinary people don't get a chace to see! all they see is the MEDIA !!!! I for one will try to reverse that impression :) We live to be ONE
@MegaSeamouse Sawubona, I'm grateful that there are people like you on youtube posting good comments regarding the unity of South Africa and its people. This song is a gift of hope and the message is clear and true. If I may, I would like to express my most profound wish for Africa: Africa, I wish you peace, harmony, love, understanding and enough healthy food to eat as well as good education for everybody.
who was the rap dude in there? i have never seen him before can some one give me his name? wanna search him up on youtube see some of his songs :D ty in advance...
Afric has such potential. To see people like Mugabe destroy the spirit of Africa makes my heart weep. Songs like this show the potential goodwill in Southern Africa
@1vincentone The spirit of Africa started to be destroyed by the aparteid regime imposed by white Africaans and the mistreatment of Boers inflicted on native Africans, and at that time we didn't witness any propaganda about it, as leaders did everything to hide the atrocities. Now with Mugabe, we have a big propaganda, clever isn't it? Stop putting everything on Mugabe's account, white Africans have also their part of responsability, Mugabe is just one of their followers. Stop being hypocrits!
@LaSulamite1 Yes, but we defeated apartheid, now we need to defeat Mugabe. Apartheid was evil; Mugabe is evil. Don't excuse Mugabe because he's only evil like apartheid. White Africans DO have responsibility, you are correct, but so do Black Africans! Let's use the awesome energy in this song to uplift everyone Black AND White AND Brown AND Yellow AND... every other colour too.
@robthemoose I don't excuse Mugabe in my comment, don't make assumption. Even if Apartheid is no more, it has left very bad consequences and many are still suffering from it, don't try to ignore it by distracting the attention on Mugabe. If there had not been this interference, that part of Africa would have develop differently. Identify people by their colour comes from the western world and creates race issues. Africans have always identify themselves with their africans ethicities and tribes
@1vincentone So what did you think was going to happen in Zim? Weep all you want, the same thing WILL happen in SA eventually and there is nothing you can do about it now. The ignorance of liberals never sieze to amaze me.
@boerqwhaas you are not very smart. Africa is no longer a British colony filled with British subjects who are loyal to Britain at the expense of Africans. Our people have been poor so long with those boers farming there and sending cheap goods to Britain (which is the only reason Britain was even involved in the first place). Africa needs a real revolution where our people own the means of production without any interference from the west. Until you understand that our people are people too...
Hey i just want to say that im here alone, kinda depressed, and im here watching this video, and i never felt better. This song brings so much joy to oneself, it is amazing to see so may people come together and sing for the greater good.
