  • I know this all too well unfortunately. I need to see my doctor every time to get my prescription in hand to give to the pharmacy because I just can't get the medication refilled like any other medication. This is a huge inconvenience and puts more stress on me. People who genuinely need these medications are the ones who are punished. Without the medication I can't work to provided for my family. I certainly do not enjoy life. My doctor told me that Percocet is less dangerous than Tylenol

  • (part 3) So tomorrow i have a appointment for a new doc and hopefully i can get oxy back. i know it has a bad stigma attached to it. But hey ive tryed just about every pain med on the market and it works the best for me, besides the fentanyl. So i guess my whole point here is, just cuz were young doesn't mean we should let doctors and parents push us into things that we the "pain suffers" don't want to do.

  • (part 2) Which got to the point were i was on 100 mcg fentanyl patch every other day and 3 30mg oxyIR's a day. Which was a lot but i actually needed it and took it the right way, and didnt get high. Right now i am on 16 mg suboxone for my pain and it works like shit. I some how got talked into going on it by my parents and some new doctor telling me that i needed to start detoxing from these drugs and it would help my pain at the same time. But it has been 4 months and it just doesnt cut it.

  • (part 1) I agree with you on this issue. My pain is related to a l4-l5 disc herniation and 5 months ago i also had a spinal fusion. I also at the beginning of my injury was treated like some kind of addict by doctors cuz i needed pain meds and i was young(18). But i was fortunate to find a doc who believed me and finally gave me my meds.

  • Wow!! I didnt know a pharmacy can refuse to give u your meds!!

  • I have lived in Chronic pain for 18 years and it is a horrible way to live. Thank-You for your posts!

  • To have pain is have certainty. To hear about pain is have doubt.

Other people, even those closest to you, don't get it and won't get it until they're in pain themselves.. TAKE THE PILL. As prescribed. You are NOT a bad person for using pain meds. The people who give you dirty looks aren't bad people, either. They just don't understand. And they live in fear of drugs. If I had a penny for every dirty look I received, I'd be a millionaire!

  • I've been in chronic pain for over 5 years. I joke with the Pharmacist about being my drug dealer. They have different reactions depending on who is there. Most of them have a good sense of humor about it.

  • ya Ive had stuff like that happen to me, been called a drug addict and i just say it's prescribed bitch.

  • what happens when your dr. changes your appointment and you don't have your regular meds and will be out of them for a week and have to work at a back-breaking job with major stress. Where does one turn? I am suffering immensely.

  • I have chronic pain, and I definitely relate to the feeling of being judged at the pharmacy. And I just want to say, "You have no idea the pain I'm in every day of my life, so don't effin' judge me!"

  • I let folks give me dirty looks and Im like "AND WHAT?!" cuz they dont know me. so they can choke on it!

You shouldnt be ashamed of your pain meds. . Do THEY have to hurt? No you do and so you should TAKE WHATEVER YOU NEED TO TAKE!!!" Im on a fentanyl patch and its clear and goes under my clothes. It lasts 3 days and I only have to take about 3 or 4 darvocets a day for breakthru pain. As opposed to 10 or so a day with only SLIGHT results.

  • I rarely have problems at my pharmacy, but I can definitely relate; I go to different clinics all the time since I don't have a GP, and about 70% of the doctors either won't refill my prescription or they treat me like I'm a junkie or drug dealer. It's stressful, frustrating, and degrading.

You're not alone and it's not your fault so don't feel bad, lovely Jackie :) Have a great day and thanks very much for posting. Stories like yours need to be told (and society needs to change!) *HUG*

  • i feel the same, i know about everything you say, someone always wants to ask what are u taking, and my mom says, how long have you been on those or they dont understand chronic pain at all, why they don't have to endure it.

  • Addiction occurs in .008-3% of real pain patients, depending on what scientific journal you believe. Pain patients are legally abused by their pharmacists and doctors! (because of the DEA)

Ironically , I can't afford care now, for chronic neuropathic pain. In the past, I treated people in chronic pain!

  • I have also had 3 lower back surgeries for herniations etc. Now, surgeons won't touch me anymore because the chronic pain I've had now for 8 years is because of scar tissue stemming from surgeries. So now, the pain is controlled through 200mg morphine plus 20mg oxycodone, plus elavil at night to sleep. And, OH the lactulose everyday so I can safely relieve my self lol. I can relate to everyone's frustration believe me. Take care.

  • I completely relate to your frustration. Why are those in choosing to control their pain, guilty of addiction. First were victimized by our bodies, but then again, by the society we live in. If you are taking pain medication, and are in pain, do not feel bad for that. I would not be living any sort of productive life without the option to control my pain. And you should absolutely not feel guilty about it either.

  • I agree with you flyjack01.

I just put up a video on the topic :)

    Rock on!
