I Downloaded this on Ubunto Linux, and was wondering, how do i evan get the game started? when i click it iget the server and client thing.. I thout before i even host a server, i have to create a map to be run on the client, and how do i get a map to even show up ?

@ali12345610 I have two comparable computers, on one it runs like 1 frame/minute on the other it runs very nice and smooth. The difference is that the first one uses the default windows video driver, where the second has all the video drivers properly installed. This might be your problem as well.

@sackbot3000 if game design is the career you want then your probably best starting elsewhere : Coding (id suggest c#), true designing (i would suggest cry engine 3 for top of the line graphics), and the rest depends on what your plans are for the game.

sandbox is more of a design for fun thing. doesn't teach you much.

1. SDK (software development kit)

2. For the static_meshes and other inanimate/animate objects you would need 3DsMax (i recommend)

3. For the texturing maya or zbursh

@lilbubka its just for computer because consoles require a different type of code like xbox 360 uses XNA for example (most of the time it is just c++ compiled into a different form for the console to run)

@lilbubka you have to hybrid it. Most programs that are used have you using c++ for the under the scenes stuff but the stuff that the console needs to run have to be in a different format. For example a computer would use a .exe to start a game but an xbox would need a .xex (xbox executable file)
