Brilliant tune(one of my fave's) i didnt know lois la roche's version existed-so with everyone talking about it i took a listen (its shit) - la roche shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence as anything to do with the original french touch scene ( he tries to emulate the sound but fails)
I think its crazy that Daft Punk etc can be so big & yet people into that sound havent scoured the artists respective labels, ie Roule, Scratche, Crydamore & checked out the stuff they had to offer. I think it was Van Helden playing when I heard this 1st around 98/99... everybody was hammering Roule releases at the time!
I agree that the sampling in this tune is a lot more creative, I just think that the kick in this one i just too big and kind of distracts from the rest of it, which I think is what makes me prefer Louis' version.
I much prefer this track to Roche's "remake". The loop is far more unconventional, and that gives a lot of character. But then again, I'm not a fan of Brett or his ego, or his overbearing fanbase, to be honest.
BUT, this video is NOT about Louis la Roche. DJ Falcon is the Godfather of French house, no doubt.
@DJevilstereo Personally, I'd say it's Thomas Bangalter. While I must say DJ Falcon released ONE EP, and it's one of the best to hit the scene, I can't say he's the "Godfather". He's one helluva DJ though.
No hate, but my opinion on Lois La Roche is that his sampling is very uncreative/unpersonal, when they most of the time basically sticks to the original groove. Sure, that's the same with guys like Paul Johnson, but he still manages to make you realize that "oh, I'd never have heard that niche in the original track".
LLR has huge ego, he is so uncreative. He's like Junior Jack, just rips samples off. (no hate for JJ, his stuff is great though). cant wait to hear what he ripped off in Super Soaker.
Bob Sinclar dislikes this video.

Etienne de Crécy is the godfather of French house. Motorbass was housing it way back in '93!

You mean the one where he uses a big four bar loop? ;P

The main beat is the sample being chopped up.
