It's so nice to see this performance on here. I was in the audience and it was amazingly moving. It was only afterwards that I found out that the quilt panel was the twin brother of the skater.
You know you are the best, this performance was great, this is Jermaine from Orlando I was the GG Gold and Bronze Medalist, I had a great time at this event and will be going to cologne Germany also.
Thank you for posting this lovely and touching performance. Figure skating is always at its best when communicating something about life. The physical and emotional demands of this tribute were met artistically with wonderful style and heart. The Gay Games are the rare opportunity to express any gay identity or story and in those few fleeting moments, a skater can leave a mark forever. Edward Van Campen has done that beautifully. We should all be proud of him.
This is my best friend and roomate performing this, the quilt panel is real, for his twin brother Rene who died in 1989. He donated it, on the ice, the next night at exhibitions, so Rene wouldn't be "just another number, another statistic. He walked the earth, he was beautiful, and he was my brother." I'm SO proud of him.
Please send Ed my best. I dated him years ago in San Francisco. He's a very talented guy. I lost my brother the same year that Ed lost his. I wish him the best.
This is so beautiful and touching. I was crying. Edward is my skating teacher at the Ice House.

That's was beautiful... two jumps, two splits and quite a beautiful spiral - and nice choreography, too! Well done!
