@kingDonnie71 Just because A man is unfaithful doesn't mean he can't be a good man. Everybody makes mistakes, Judging by the work he left behind be it charity, entertainment, or mentoring kids, I'd say he is one hell of a man.

sure everyone has sin in their lives, one should not judge another ,but come on does anybody have morals/ values anymore.Steve Mc Nair was a great athlete ,but his personal life he was cheating on his wife .He was MARRIED (still).Get a divorce then do as you please ,what kind of role model is this for his 4 kids/look what he taught them, this will be a pivatol point in thier young lifes ,thanks to their father ,Steve ...God rest your soul...where ever your at ,you left this earth in an awful way.
backsliders don't go to hell...once you have been grafted (as Paul, in his writings describes it) into the family of God, through Christ, you cannot be removed. But, you must be "grafted in", for sure. Jesus said that he that the Father places in His hands, no one can pluck that soul out....not even that soul! This is just one of the mysteries of the Sovereignty of God.
I need a scripture. Even Paul did not want to be a castway. If a backslidder can go and do anything and still get to heaven I need to read that scripture.
The letter of Paul, I John was addressed to Christians, not the unsaved. In Chapter 1, verse 8 he states, "If we (any Christian) say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us..." In verse 10, he says "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word in not in us."
That being the case, what category of sin have you, as a Christian, committed which is less egregious than McNair's to God and which God cannot cleanse, as he promises in verse 9.
When you say "the scriptures do not line up", are you are suggesting a standard of reference outside of the scriptures? according to I John, we as Christians commit "sins" all our lives. Paul says, "not I, but sin that dwells in me". Before Christ, we were dead....so dead, in fact, that we didn't even have a living desire for God's Righteousness. The inference in Rom. 7:17 is that the "Life" of the believer is only possible by the Spirit of God. That "Will" is the part of us that is NEW.
Let me put it another way, a person accepts Jesus as their Lord and Saviour according to Romans 10:9. This person then murders, robs, rapes, commits adultery. This person never asks forgiveness or repents. Do you think this person will go to heaven. If yes base it on scripture where it is concise. thanks
Paul says in Rom. 6:12 "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body." Because you certainly can, as a Christian, given our struggle with the old nature. READ ROMANS, my man...and get out of this tragic trap of tradition. If the Holy Spirit is alive in you, you cannot sin without conviction. The HS is the "Proof of Purchase" of God. We belong to Him. If we disobey our Father, he chastises us. Some of us are chastised to physical death! But, saved! All biblical!
That's a very good thing to do considering how serious this doctrine is and what scripture really teaches about it. You should be very careful, however...to ascribe to hell or the devil what is actually the work of the HS is blasphemy.
Further, Romans 8 addresses the question of the "Eternality" of the Salvation God give's us through Christ. To paraphrase verse 32, "...If God would give us His own son to secure, with infinite power, our redemption...would He not give what was also necessary to KEEP US unto the day of glorification??
And after giving God's most profound and comprehensive doctrine of our security, he asks the rhetorical question, "What shall separate us from the love of God"? He finally answers with "NOTHING"! I suggest you really study Romans 8 thoroughly and prayerfully.

If he was born again adultery would have made him a backslider.

I appreciate you comments however, will a backslidder go to heaven or hell? Well I will study on my own.
Once saved always saved sounds like a doctrine from the pits of hell.
God bless!

Eddie, that is good advice that you should pay attention to. One save always saved is not written in the Bible.
