Honestly, as a castlevania fan, Curse of darkness loses it's luster pretty quickly. same with lament of innocence, IMO. Castlevania was just not meant for the 3rd dimension
Oh, yesss. I remember this one, though I've never played it. But I do have an awesome memory of it. My brother-in-law was playing this with his GBA adapter for the Gamecube, and I remember him walking into a large room where a huge bat appeared... only to be crushed inside a giant human hand! Next thing I knew, he was having it out with this bigass one eyed dude in the background. We affectionately nicknamed this giant "Bubba Dracula".
Even people who aren't particularly interested in Castlevania still state how phenomenal this masterpiece is. If you don't like Aria of Sorrow then there's something wrong with you.
Funny thing, I was at Gamestop about a week ago, and I saw a copy of Aria of Sorrow for $18. I didn't pick it up, however, because I noticed something rather queer about the cartridge: It was merely the 'Lament of Innocence' on a GBA catridge, with an almost invisible "Aria of Sorrow" subtitle. I'm up visiting my cousin now, and I bought a copy of Aria of Sorrow, with the real cartridge art for $15. I'm looking forward to telling the cashiers at the Gamestop near me that they've been scammed.
At least not the ones working that day. I asked them if they had Harmony of Dissonance, and they just said, "Here, we'll unlock the GBA cases so you can look through them." Then they went back to the counter. Funny thing, the guy at the Gamestop near my cousin's said that they frequently get bootlegs. That being, there actually have been cases where I've gotten suburb service at Gamestop, most notably when I bought 'Lament of Innocence".
hehe, more comments!!! if you still don't have a CoD (curse of darkness) i can donate one of my copies to you. the CD has some scratches because i let people borrow it, but otherwise it works great. its the PS2 version
I was wondering about your metroidvania playthroughs - are you just going to play enough to get through the games? Or are you going to try to go for high map-percentage?
He sure fucking is. Wish that NECA company included him in that Castlevania action figure line.
I think in some of my old AVGN-ish vids, you can see the Alucard figure in the background, as well as the NP poster for this game. Yes, I'm that much of a geek. :P
I could type in random questions if that would make you feel better. It would be totally off topic but it wouldn't be considered spam since i didnt copy and paste it
AoS and DoS are probably my least-favorite GBA/DS games. The soul system just never really grabbed my interest. And AoS is WAY too easy (even easier than HoD, in my opinion).
It's nice to hear that you have such a high opinion of PoR. PoR is a very underrated game, and I'll never understand why. As for OoE, its difficulty is just right by default, although the enemy drops are rather lacking. I would've liked to have seen a greater variety of attack types from the glyphs, though.

if they ever make a 100 dollar coin it should look just like a penny so that only people who actually look at change and stuff can get it

not sure what you mean by suburb service....

omg!!! i seriously miss this game!
i love this game since i was 11!
still loving it till now
but too but my gameboy spoiled
and its really hard to find a game boy now
hope they have the exact one for psp!
corbraz 2 years ago
get a DS and play it on that, no one in their right mind owns a PSP.
as a matter of fact if you put this game in the GBA slot of the DS and play the sequel, Dawn of Sorrow you'll start with an extra item.

souio 3 years ago
i'm going to try do as much as i can reasonably. for example, i'll probably fill in the map in AoS but won't try and get every single soul
NecroVMX 3 years ago
The only bad thing about AoS is replaying it. You're determined to get AL the souls next time around ant it takes FOREVER. :P
This one's easily in my Top 5 Castlevanias. Helps that Soma Cruz is one of the few characters in the series I give a shit about.

Soma's the man, he's my favorite non-belmont character

Don't get me wrong, I love the first two GBA Castlevania's, but the quality of this one almost makes it look like they were made by mistake.
Probably the best story in a Castlevania game too at least in my opinion.
