@XDMETALLICARULES The problem was the glossy poly finish on the original guitar. It doesn't allow the paint to stick to it. Otherwise, I agree with you.
Dude I loved all the different color scemes that you did with the guitar. I loved the Blue, with white and black stripes and the Purple with white and black stripes.
nice except if u want the EVH sound u got the wrond idea see he uses and always has used an unfinished maple neck so your own oils could soak into the neck and u need a SD JB and EVH does not use a clear coat it takes away from tone big time
Nice job. Now all you have to do is play it overdriven through 500 watts of Greenbacks until your audience slowly defacates into their undies, then pour some Ronsonol over it and strike a match. THEN it becomes a work of art!
you probably got hit with that WMG copyright crap. but you can add a van halen jam trac (kareoke) or add your own van halen song that you play and they can't remove it.
You, might have to use a router. But it may already have a large enough space under the pick gaurd, especially where the bridge pickup is located. Good Luck!!
hi i was watchin ur video and read some of the comments i thought the guitar came out lookin spot on the only thing that got to me a bit was when u were changin the colour of the frankenstratto like green blue but hay ho but anyway good job iam goin to attempt that on my johnny brook strat so we'll see how it turn out thanx ... steve smith
Thanks! It was a fun project. I'll be starting another one soon. The reason for the multicolors was, it was my first time using Movie Maker. I put in too many effects. Good luck with yours!!!
Good job!...By the way, was it reeeaaallllyyyy necessary to strip the body at first. Couldnt you have just put masking tape over the body straight away and save you a load of time?
Thanks....I wondered the same thing about the stripping at first, but I think it is pretty important because of the nitrocellulose paint. Everything that I read about said that type of paint doesn't react well with most finishes, especially poly. There are other projects online that show using basic Krylon paint from the hardware store and they look really good. But I went with the instrument grade materials and I'm happy. Good Luck!!!
did you use ReRanch paint all the way? If so what color did you use for red? I thought of using ReRanch with Dakota red but it looks too dark. (BTW;Great job!)
Fiesta red.....At first I thought it was too light, but after multiple coats it will darken up. Also, as it dries it darkens. Yes, everthing was Reranch paint. Thanks for the comment and good luck with your project.
Nice !! Wicked tremolo by the way ! what make is that ?
Overall it's hard work doin' it, eh ? Would you do it again ?
Under my pickup I had to place a wood block to lift the pickup to the approx right height (6mm pickup to string) The pickup cavity was just too deep to mount direct to the body.
If you have tuning problems it may be because you painted inside the neck pocket, believe it or not that causes allsorts of problems with the neck settling down.I had to strip the paint out, now OK!
Again, thanks for the advice. I took it apart today and sanded the neck pocket. It really helped with the action. I had to raise the pickup as well. It sounds much better. By the way the decal is on its way. Enjoy!!!
How long did u wait to pull off the tape after you painted it?
ReekingHav0k 2 weeks ago
how come you have to sand the guitar even though its already black, couldnt you just put the tape over it then paint it white?

how do you get the 1971 quater to stick to the guitar ? super glue? and how do you get the hole in the quater
guitarmessiah95 2 years ago
No glue. I had the hole drilled by my father at his machine shop. He used a metal bit and a drill press.

great job dude, but im sorry, ive got to agree with minglemonkey about the red paint
ActCreation 3 years ago
completly wrong tone of red makes it look horrible
minglemonkey 3 years ago
I beg to differ. If you do any research. If you use instrument grade paint, fiesta red from The Guitar Reranch is the correct color.
mcgurk5150 3 years ago
it does look as tho the red is off by a bit, from the vid at least.
