@MichaeLightify Nice stuff. I've read 85 books so far this year, next year I will make it my goal to read 20, and among those I will include the Koran, the bhagavad gita and the Essene gospel of Truth. I won't worry about the Bible, I've read that 7 times from various versions. Even if one doesn't believe, one should not remain in ignorance eh. Cheers mate.
Hey Uranium man, c the religious zealots commenting? They're kind of like u, they only c the wld in black&white. They believe ur fucked unless U change mate. But you understand zealots don't yah? You called me a animal murderer for being a vegetarian, implying I am not as righteous as you. I bow down to your veganism oh great one. People like u end up in fucked up cults, or they start on on their own. Ppl like u turn others off the notion of caring 4 creatures that don't have a voice of their own.
@devilen73 No, I'm not saying that God didn't require sacrifices or allow animals to die in the flood. I'm saying, as the scriptures said, that he didn't take pleasure in it. There was no "blood lust." I'd be happy to explain this to you somewhere that didn't limit my responses to 400 characters, but considering you declare my faith "BS" I don't suppose you're open to discussion on the matter? There's really no justification for rudeness, or doesn't your "kindness" extend to the human animal?
@ksminnis I'm open to debate.Send ur responses 2 my in-box. I know ur going 2 quote psalms 51;16, Isiah 1:11, & then ur going 2 tell me all about the wonderful world of the Kingdom age, when the lion, lamb, & wolf will lie together & eat grass, and U all will B vegan. Doesn't mean that ur god isn't a prick 4 having innocent animals killed in the 1rst place. I'm not going to excuse the prick for that, @ get the fuck over the "rudeness", and yourself, it won't kill u 2 read swear words!
@devilen73 - Don't you think it's a little ironic that after studying for 2 years, you are telling a Witness of 20 years "trust me, you aren't open minded"? If I'm not open minded - if people of my faith aren't open minded - why am I vegan? Why have several of my Witness friends recently gone vegan? I'm sorry you've had a bad experience, and especially sorry if you've been led to believe that God has "blood lust" or takes pleasure in the death of any creature. That's just not true.
@ksminnis No, I don't think it ironic, I know ppl who have played chess for 1 year who can beat people who've played for 30! Being a vegan doesn't make you open minded, it makes you kind to animals, and that I am thankful for. But your God is BS, I've read the NWT and u r telling me god DOESN'T demand blood sacrifices? LOL! And where does it say that your god DID NOT kill and untold number of innocent animals in a flood? u were deflecting, nice try, but stick to the questions I asked
@MichaeLightify Are you pushing the whole Jesus was an Essene BS? I'm not sure if you are, but has been successfully debunked, and it has not been proven emphatically that the Essene were entirely vegan, but I stand to be corrected on that point. But the Jesus of the bible was no Essene, and Jesus shouldn't be used as an argument for or against veganism, because his historicity is in question?
@Devilen73 Apparently I can't post in a link to show you the spuriousness of the Essene Gospel of Peace. I suggest you research the origins of the material at best like every other discerning "normal" thinking person.
@MichaeLightify Yeah Yeah, there is a plethora of sources on the net, and real research has been done about your silly beliefs. I've seen enough convincing evidence to understand that you are just like the Mormons and Scientology folk. U obviously have an agenda; you want to mishmash another version of yet another Jesus to suit your dietary beliefs. How fucking childish is that? Why don't you follow Gandhi? At least his historicity isn't in question mate. Oh ye of little mind. @ least ur vegan
@Devilen73 Veganism religion has many pitfalls... problem with vegans is their self-righteousness and claims of moral superiority...
I learn Vegans are no better than anyone else, they can be as good or evil as any other person... but they often have their own brand of smug condescension and hypocrisy yuck! lol
@MichaeLightify Yeah, if he doesn't apologize, I guess you're right, he's a wanker...don't like the phrase/words "douche bag," it's one of those Americanisms that sexists use. Have a good holiday. I'm glad we agree about "uranium boy"
@MichaeLightify You "spiritual" folk always crack me up, u hold on, and on, and on, like a little fox terrier with a rag doll. And you dare preach about forgiveness when you can't even practise it. Racha! Oh, am I "clueless?" lol...I don't follow the scribblings from certain gospels that have NEVER been proven to exist, nor do I follow any man, especially one whose historicity has been in question for hundreds of years. Find your own path sheep, like a real man/woman.
@Devilen73 merry Christmas lets all forgive each other and recognize that whether you are a vegan a vegetarian a meat-eater or a breatharian, if you are a WANKER then u will be a WANKER no matter what u eat until u stop being a WANKER !! :) hehe
@MichaeLightify Happy HOLIDAYS to you to mate, and thanks for acknowlidgine your wankership It take a big man to own up to that. Is it your new years resolution to make amends? "Breatharians," god, I remember those fools, telling ppl they lived only on air whilst chewing food in the back of their mouths :-) But ur a gullible bugger, perhaps you believe in that shite?
@MichaeLightify I "obviously have an agenda," yah think? Not really, I would like an apology from Uranium man for calling me a murderer of animals because I am vegetarian and not a Vegan. I'm actually closer to veganism than vegetarianism. Many Veggies transition to Veganism in their own time, and I'm working on that. In the mean time, a lot less animals are dying and suffering each year from my choice not to eat meat or consume milk.
I'm a vegan Jehovah's Witness, and I applaud anyone who is ready to civilly discuss their beliefs. I think you'll find us more open-minded than people tend to expect.
@ksminnis I had one encounter with an elderly JW man once before. He was far less interested in talking about animal rights/veganism with me, than these two ladies. However, I was on his "turf", so to speak. He approached me as I was waiting for my friend (his neighbor) to get home. lol We still had a decent and civil exchange of ideas, despite his opening line being a verbal attack on the theory of evolution. lol Thanks for the applause! :o)
@UraniumMan - True, we don't believe in the theory of evolution. But knowing that can actually be an aid to you in helping Witnesses to consider veganism! We're not entrenched in that "survival of the fittest" belief. We believe that man and animals alike were created, and that the first humans were given the responsibility to care for the animals - not kill and eat them!
@ksminnis I sure caught heck over going vegitarian, but then my family did it a couple times a week. hope you do well with it. add eggs, it is in chemistry they have all you need with those fruits and vegs too.....otherwise vegans need B=12 shots. be well, and drink your water and eat your salad......and flax seed oil.
@thepixieful I've been vegan for quite awhile now (no eggs, no animal products whatsoever) and doing just fine with my B12 by taking a daily supplement. It's super important for all vegans to be aware of their B12, but it can easily be managed. :-)
@ksminnis JWs aren't open minded.I studied your beliefs for 2 years, and then studied with JWs personally. I attended Kingdom Hall meetings for about 2 years; so, trust me, you are far from open minded. You worship a god that had no problems whatsoever in sanctioning the blood slaughter of innocent animals to appease his blood lust, not to mention, having an untold number of INNOCENT animals murdered in a world wide flood, and for what? The sin of the daughter's of men & the Nephilim?
I enjoyed this. I have been speaking to the Witnesses in my neighborhood and getting their input about eating lately. It's an on-going conversation. The only suggestion I would have is to show them the website printed on the back of the brochure. When they asked where to find it...it's printed right there for them to reference if they choose to. Thanks!
I think of all the organized religious groups, Jehovah's would be the most receptive to this message. If I ever answered my door, I would do this too, lol! Great job. Like the lady said, the Creator does not condone cruelty to animals in any way & Jesus was crucified within a week after kicking all the people out of the Temple for selling animals for sacrifice. He said "no innocent blood will be shed in My House" Only the Essenes follow a vegetarian, anti-speciesist message.(see below)
The Essenes Gospel of Peace (part of Dead Sea Scrolls) outlines vegetarian raw plant foods diet the Essenes & Jesus followed -- deliberately left out of the "corrupted" version of the Bible (along with 18 years of Jesus's life) Also, in the Gospel of the Holy 12, there are many stories of Jesus saving animals, telling hunters that in the life to come, they will know what it's like to be hunted; that animals are our brothers & sisters, making it clear that Thou Shalt not Kill means animals too.
