I remember I went to GL as a kid when they had first gotten the Mind Eraser. It was painted neon green. Huge lines for it. You could see it from Aurora Rd. when you were nearing the park.
As the years went on it got rougher and rougher and whenever it got to the opposite spike it'd make some loud, jarring noises. Glad to see it doesn't do that anymore now.
They renamed it Head Spin I believe when Cedar Fair bought the park. All the other coasters got generic names too.
@andrewbarrett42 I see this was posted 11 months ago so I wont mention Intimidator, but dude. How can you call this better then Afterburn aka Top Gun? The Cobra IMO is one of the worst coasters at the park. Top Gun however is rated one of the best inverted coasters in the world. It is also one of the top 30 coasters.
@egrigg11 You did,nt read my comment properly,I meant the cobra is lame but it is better than all the rollercoasters at Blackpool, not Carowinds,I know afterburn is one of the best inverters, dumbass.
@andrewbarrett42 Dude no name for name calling. I'm going to quote you on this " They may be junk, but they are better than any of the rollercoasters we have here." If Blackpool is your home park you should have specified. That whole comment made it look like you were talking about Carowinds not Blackpool. If you want to start name calling I can stoop down to your immature level but I choose not too.
The reason why so many parks have this replica is because this ride is cheap, and doesn't take up much space although they require a lot of maintenance for the winch/cable system, and chain on the second hill.
It looks fun as hell! Carowinds is finally starting to get some great coasters....Intimidator......Afterburn........Thunder Road (wish they'd paint it white again).....Vortex (good but too short)........Hurler (ok but rough).....Nighthawk (looks cool but never rode it)......Carolina Cyclone (the new colors look great, sort of a thrill ride for the 80s but still ok....Just the paint color makes me wanna ride it again).....Ricochet (never rode it but looks like something I might ride)
It is awkward to see the line Cobra has. It ticks me off because back in Geuaga Lake, there was no line. It was just get on, get off whenever. But hell you couldn't stand the roughness of the vekoma, it was a ride once and never again type. Glad to see it in a nice and caring park
Used to be called the Mind Eraser @ Geauga Lake

No you don't, Invertigo is inverted and is really rough.

These kind of roller coasters are lame. Why parks still building the junk?

i cant even imagine a line like that at GL for head spin. that was by far one of the bumpiest rides i have ever been on

Those boomerang type coasters can actually be quite fun, especially when going backwards.
