  • I was told you shouldn't go pass parallel because that can put too much strain on your knees. Is this true, should I be going pass parallel?

  • @richymorganrp Going past parallel infact relieves stress from the knees. The greatest stress is placed on them in or near the parallel position.

    Just start light and sit down as deep like when you tie your shoelaces. Don't let the knees cave in, keep your chest and head up. Your squat stance depends on your build. There are 2 major styles of backsquat: High and Low bar, look them up. I squat mostly high bar (olympic style). Look for BROZKNOWS, they have the most badass form.

  • @thetightpinkie thanks for the response. I'm still waiting to get a squat rack, so at the moment i'm only doing zercher squats using my bench. Are these okay and would I go past parallel for them?

  • @richymorganrp Depends on how long have you been lifting and your overall ability, especially your core and upper back. Zerchers are a tough exercise and I wouldn't recommend these for a beginner because it's very tough to keep form and getting sufficent muscle stimulation.

    You really need to strenthen your abs,obliques and the posterior chain in order to do these safely. I'd start with powercleans and light squats higher reps and work on form.

  • @thetightpinkie Also don't be afraid to deadlift. Light weight ,again work on form. Film yourself exercising and correct your form by comparing these videos to the "perfect form"(which differs from lifter to lifter so find somebody with your bodytype to compare. Oly lifters for the high bar squats, front squats and power cleans( from which you can advance to squat cleans). most people have flexibility issues when it comes to squatting or deadlifting so you'll need to stretch alot

  • @thetightpinkie This is the last one( PM me if you want). I mentioned PCs before deadlifts because people get hurt more doing DLs than PCs because PC is an explosive movement and you need to get it high enough fast! Whereas deadlift is a slower less explosive exercise which allows you to cheat on form to lift more weight. Even though DL and the initial part of a PC(first pull) look the same there are some fundamental differences in positioning which you need to learn.

  • @imthetank3 well thats just proves that this guys have good genes.I mean they say they have average genes at best but I think its obvious for beginners to barely even lift light weight if they are just starting out.I mean sets with135 for with beginer who hasnt been working out is already quite a weight.Right now I am doing sets with 185 but it took me a lot of time and hard work just to get to the point I am now.When I was starting I was shaking everywhere when I grabbed even a light weight.

  • @comperko I agree, I used to be 105lbs when I first started. Im 140lb not really going for the bulk look, But people in my gym have been telling me i have good genes, but really its the hard work I put on every workout. Also its hard for me to gain weight, Ive been on 4 different weight gainers, ive only gained muscle size, no weight, but im not complaining.

  • @imthetank3 its cool your an ectomorph just like me.I gained weight after years of training but only lean muscle.I am hard gainer too but the advantages are that even though its hard to put on muscle you will always be low bodyfat and when you gain some size you will already be shredded without having to cut.I eat like horse dont do any cardio at all and still have about 8% bodyfat while having lean muscles.Im 5´9 used to weight 125 now after years of training 165 and still lean not bulky.

  • I workout at home, and ive never been on a bench for bench press, i have a machine that does it. I dont know if its the same but it certainly works, and i dont have a spotter anyway. machine is much simpler IMO.

  • Problem with deep squats is that some of the taller fellows out there do not have the sufficient flexibility to keep your back straight instead of it rounding. That doesn't mean 3 inch squats. Parallel squats is the least.

  • BIGGEST MISTAKE: locking your arms when you doing bicep curls and bench press. I did that when I was sixteen and I was over ambitious with the amount I was lifting, I now have fucked up tendonitis in my left elbow.

But you see so many people doing it anyway bcos they dont know better. another thing that causes injury is using the lats machine behind your neck, apparently it causes back problems

  • @supermaNEF The main reason they say more reps is for the simple fact that more than likely you are using them everday lol. You walk on them all day so they would be harder to build up as they are large and used to this kind of stress. But, all-in-all you can do like 8 reps, that's what I do, use heavy weight and your body will not get used to lol you'll "feel" it!

Also blasting isolation exercises and chest flies yet they're part of their chest routine.

    Also, machines < free weights in terms of practical strength.. training on machines is only going to make you better at using a machine, not stronger in real-life applications.

    eat lean. very lean. 6 small meals a day... but make sure you're getting the required protein intake... have skinless chicken, lean steak, skim milk, egg whites, salad, vegetables, fruit... but make sure your eating often and getting a good amount of carbs in the beginning of the day before you burn it off.. go to the gym and lift heavy weights and make sure your getting a sweat up... finish off with a power walk for 15min or something

    or else if that's gonna take too much time and be too hard for you just get on the mass gainer and eat shit loads of good food and bulk up hard... your stomach will get more solid and less flabby once you've been working out for a while and you'll look much better for it
