Did people not notice the orange stickers on them...my guess is those stickers mark them as defective and are probably due to be taken apart and have all the parts recycled or something soon.

You never stopped to think about the environment that these drives were being set up as dominoes? It looked like a computer repair shop.

It is within the realm of possibility that all of these drives may have been collected as BROKEN when these drives were replaced by new drives to fix customer's computers.

And Maxtor does make some of the worst drives.

Broken drives are worth nothing, hence this amusing video.

If the numbers are right, that's an average size of half a terabyte per drive. They are all old drives.

Maxtor makes terrible drives that you'd not even want to store porn on, much less important data.

People are asking "give me those drives" or saying "hook those drives in an array and you've got all the storage you need" without thinking about WHY this was done.

I don't want a drive that I know for certain that I can't rely on, nor would I ever use Maxtor in any kind of RAID because of their spotty reliability, especially if it's non-redundant data striping.

Look for a video called Maxtor Hard Drive Dominoes. It is the only other video out there so we decided to break their record for capacity. I think that they were 22 Terabytes and we beat them by a few Terabytes. Maxtor Drives only of course.
