This is a joke! He gives no mention whatsoever to Randy Newman! He basically assumes all writing credit based on having done a poor cover version on his record? Lame. This guy is a pompous prick. Who listens to this nonsense, bad singing accent stuff anyway?
@spage4 I listen to this moron. It's funny how your probably the first one to say don't judge and yet you judge poorly. This man is one the best and most humble artists' around. Go back to your hole and suck on your mommas teet jerkoff
@spage4 I know Martin quite well. Been to many of his gigs and done a masterclass with him. If you even possessed one Iota of the skill this man has you'd be out doing a lot better than trolling his videos. Honestly, worlds biggest prick award goes to you.
i saw him about a fortnight ago in a really small venue that he said he really wanted to play, and he did for half the money he normally charges, and he was incredible, i did think he talked abit too much inbetween songs, but there again you do need abit of backstory.
and i shook his hand and had a 2 min chat with him about music, and the oil spill in the gulf of mexico.
Don't you love how he tunes that guitar with a story? The tuning rifflage is just as compelling as the song he sings after. Deeper than the flood, yo. Lasts longer, too. Did you go back to see your house? Hey Martin, the US is returning to the good people again. Come visit often. We're deeply snakebit, but I think we caught it in time. We're gonna be okay, all of us. -edwinson
@Cminor7sus4 Hah, he commented on that tonight. Said BBC Radio 4 (over here) recorded him, and they included his tuning, and his daughter's a big fan and she listened to the recording, so all of a sudden on the sofa he got a "bloo-blu-bla-blu-bla" taking the mic out of how he tunes :P
Saw him in Berkeley 2 weeks ago or so at the Freight. He's been my guitar hero #1. Expecations were high, but he just blew me away... better than I could have imagined. His taste and tone is impecable as always... so interesting and lyrical... no cliches in his playing. Purely Simpson... a man who knows who he is and what he wants to express. A singular icon.

@spage4 You're rather thick. It's not about WHO sings it, what matters is the overall message the song has the audience get from it.

@pianoguitar1 Really? Who could you find to argue with that idea? Randy Newman IS one of the best songwriters ever. Arguably THE BEST.
