  • Trying to work out all the words, help me out here:

    Time (lots of minutes)

It's time for you to pay (you're just not with it)

You've broken every rule (you are the limit???)

They're gonna take your time away!

    Time (???)

As sure as not to stay (you won't get through it???)

You'll take your time to learn (I guess you always knew it)

They're gonna take your time away!

I'm not certain with some of those backing vocals, especially the ones with the question marks, but I think the rest is all right.

  • @matthewbeetle3 See : Parallel 9 opnening titles 'Long Version' 1992 series one and closing credits mid season video on Youtube for the sentancing.

  • I kinda remember this, but wasn't there a jazzier version of the opening credits too?

  • Even after all these years he does sound like he said : 'oooooh bugger!' lol

  • I'm the guy who sang this theme tune back in the early 90s. It was written by the chap who wrote Blockbusters theme. Bizzarre!

    Eddie Mooney

  • the theme reminded me of blockbusters, now i know why :p

  • It'd made for a neat way to open up a live show, rare song, have you ever played it outside of this intro?

  • I've loved this song ever since I was a kid watching this show. Great lyrics and singing :)

  • @thedakotasuk You kid! lol

  • @thedakotasuk cool! So, if you sang it, would you be able to clarify all the lyrics? I loved this theme when I was a kid (but I didn't like the replacement theme in series 2-3), and there were some bits that I could never fathom.

  • Whatever mate, like you could do better...not. Hahahaha.

  • Nah mate, your tastes are shite. They don't do high-concept weekend shows anymore, and they ought to.

  • I loved this show, the 2nd season was a pile of pants.........

  • This programme made me want to stay in bed on a saturday.

  • Programme was a cross between a 1950s sci-fi B-Movie and Blakes Seven, with guests. I seem to remember it even had mini-storylines in some episodes, too: and yes, it did have a good theme tune :)

  • The strangest concept for a Saturday kids show ever. Still better than the alternative which is nothing at all nowadays.

  • The strangest Saturday morning show ever.

  • Wow - what a trip down misery lane. I worked on that show and all I remember is getting up at four every Saturday, shlepping out to Pinewood Studio and trudging through mud to run camera cables!

  • Even if it was just for the theme tunes - you were appreciated :D

  • The production values for this show were amazing. Pretty it went all rubbish in the second series.

  • If i recall 'Out of this world Parallel 9 was part of the theme at some point?'

  • yes there was a more upbeat theme used in later series

  • No unfortunately not

  • Thanks for this!

  • Oh thank fuck! I thought this was some LSD induced psychosis but its a relief to know this programme did actually exist

  • i know what you mean!

  • I just had the same reaction. Though its no more reassuring that the BBC thought it was OK to screen a show set around an alien prison camp!!
