Thank you. I was reading a book that is set in Russia and I wanted to know what they were talking about. You explained very well and being able to see it helped a lot. Well done.
very high quality of life.cooking sleeping and healing your vertebral column.thank you man.this is genius people who can make that.from dificult situation generate genius invention like pechka.
Thank you for this! I was wondering. How common is the pechka? In other words, would it be found in most common homes? Or, perhaps just in country homes and farm houses. This is SO interesting to learn how people live, in a country which we were taught to hate when I was young. Ignorance breads fear, and mistrust. Thank you for your enlightening posts.
Because of the large thermal mass of brick inside the home, once they heat up, they will stay warm for a long time. This makes good use of wood burning.
This is very interesting! There was a similar system here in Korea called "ondol" where the fireplace was on one side of the house and the chimney was on the other, so the heat would flow through channels under the floor before venting, and thus you heat the house while you cook. Modern houses still use ondol heating, but it's done by circulating hot water under the floor.
That's interesting. Explains remarks I have come across in 19th century Russian novels when people are referred to as 'Sleeping above the stove'! Interesting series.
Wow...Hetalia brought me here. XD I've really learned alot from this stupid anime

I wonder what the fire dangers are with it?
Wolfeye90 2 years ago
It mostly smoke (not fire) dangers. The wood should completely burn out before you close the air flow.

A huge heatsink, that stores heat instead of sending it all up the chimney....
