It will be sufficient for playing in pop bands and unambitious rock bands but apart from that, that's not good drumming at all

You lose all sense of air and space around the drums

when you use close-mic'ing, and instead of hearing

the drum set as a coherent whole, you are hearing each

Nobody listens that way. Sounds unnatural.
