Nixon opened up China, and got us out of the war. Carter gave away the Panama Canal, and lost Iran as an ally. Reagan contributed to the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the breaking up of our nuclear enemy, drastically reducing the nuclear arms count worldwide.
I'm a Democrat, but lets give credit where credit is due.
It's true Nixon was never impeached, but Nixon also bombed Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam back to the stone age. He also arguably committed the worst political crimes in American history until the current (P)resident assumed office. And Reagan, well some of what you say is true, though he also broke the law helping kill thousands if not millions in various cold war conflicts.
Oh, I'm not a fan of Nixon at all. I agree with you fully. He was a crooked lowlife SOB in my book. And Reagan? South America was his Iraq. He had operatives in 6 different countries down there at the same time messing with their governments. I was just pointing at the obvious that there was "some" good and "some" bad in all of them. However... I'm having a hard time finding anything to come out good for Bush's legacy. Not one good thing. That's really sad.
Oh yeah. Reagan was the only U.S. president ever to get our country officially condemned by the United Nations. It was over mining that harbor down around Peru somewhere. I forget the name of the harbor.
The main defining features of each president:
Nixon opened up China, and got us out of the war. Carter gave away the Panama Canal, and lost Iran as an ally. Reagan contributed to the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the breaking up of our nuclear enemy, drastically reducing the nuclear arms count worldwide.

The good thing is that it will END!! That's the only item I can think of. (Beside all the laws that will change so this crap doesn't happen again.)
