half the video was a tad unnecessary, theres no need to get all specific on the handle because probably nobody would make the same two, and i would've just used the preset gradient for the handle, and the lines on it i would've just made black, but i had never messed around with the filters so i still learned something,, good job ~_^

You could also layer a realistic saber effect over this using After Effects.......but you probably already knew that, and I'm stating the obvious.

Have you heard of Anime Studio 6?

I've tried it and I got stuck on it. Would this program be easier for a beginner to make an animated series with action scenes in it? Or is this more difficult than the other?

idk anything about Anime Studio 6, but flash is used for more than just cartoons, its used for making interactive websites etc. and is a lot more expensive, and is probably harder, i've been using it for about a year to make animations and im still learning a lot all the time.

ive got this problem in flash,(like always lol)!!!i done these equilizers going up and down with speakers pumping up and down,when i test movie it plays in exellent quality,but when i export it,the quality is crap and nothig moves,no equilizers nothing,!

A video can only be 1GB in size and 10 minutes in length.

There are two possible explanations for why he can bypass those limits.

1. He is a partner, and that is one of his benefits (though I am not sure that partnership allows that)

2. He created this account before 2005 and therefore has been able to bypass the limits forever.

Search "The Longest Video On YouTube" for a video that is 40 hours long (I think it is 40 hours, though I may be mistaken)

the blade was a bit naff cuz it looked too solid what you should do is just create a thin white line and then a motion blur (if flash has that) '~' in the colour you want

Yeah I never particularly studied the design of lightsabers prior to this, it was just a fun idea for a tutorial to help people learn a little easier.

Thanks alot! Honestly i don't want to do a light saber but i wanted to know where the filter buttons are! every time i wanted to make something glow or blur i had to convert it into a motion tween and go from there thank you ALOT!

i agree, please do use flash 8 for us users who cant afford to use cs3 - 4, im a big fan of you sir and learned a lot from your examples, though i have limitations for i only use Flash 8 T_T, ive learned and used your continues wave line effect, so please teach us how to do your works on Flash 8 PLEASE T___T

I appreciate that not everybody can afford the latest versions of Flash, but the majority of our tutorials work almost exactly the same in versions 8/CS3/CS4 with only cosmetic differences to the interface, except where version specific features are used.

just make a line.size 10.choose any color but it's better if it's the original lightsaber colors.highlight the whole line with the basic mouse tool.the black mouse pointer tool.then modify shape convert lines to fill.then modify shape.there's another option with the word fill.then change the numbered thingies to 10.there are 2,so both 10.that's only the line.you'll be the one to design the handle

What you'll probably want to do is use soften fill edges, which is in the Modify > Shape window. It doesn't look as good as the blur filter, but it's a way of getting blurs pre Flash 8.
