You know the more I watch drumming videos on youtube the more I respect cobus. I am (roughly) the same age as cobus and started drumming when I was 8, I have been growing up listening to these videos and its heartwarming to see a kit like mine used to be playing along to the same songs that every drummer should learn :') Hopefully when im 40 cobus will still post videos, but by then we're all expecting you to be in a stadium dude!!!

1) New set/heads

2) Recently tuned/retuned

3) Good quality cymbals

4) Good recording

As for recording, I don't think he ever uses triggers, too natural a sound

There are a lot of us as good as him, but we cant all afford pro recording gear, nor have the time to edit and mix the video with the song.

apart from what @radialovertone said, if you tune your drums, they'll sound better. you do have to process drums to make them sound as good as they do here, but if your kit isn't tuned, it won't sound good no matter what.

4 drums is definately not wrong. It makes the set less crowded. you don't need a huge set to be good, but there's nothing wrong with a huge set. personal preference.
